Yes
Punt guns are responsible for at least two extinctions of species of water bird
It is illegal to use them today
in USA*
See? They work. If I'm going to get a gun, I want one that works.
Aren't those just giant bored shotguns?
Sure are
I want one of these
Is there like a legal limit on the size of shotgun bore?
I can say what the legal limit should be
20mm and above is usually considered cannon, however since 12ga > 50cal shotguns already have a DD exemption, so I dunno
with the size of that thing it looks like it could function as a makeshift anti-aircraft gun
The strongest one can hold without shattering their forearms
Disregard the hinge thing (the inventor just wanted to show that it can be made into a top-break as well as side-swing revolver, so he implemented both in a prototype)
What if I made a shotgun pepperbox/volley gun?
Same basic effect but legal?
How long before the US Space Force gets bolters
You can get any size you want, legally
DDs can still be registered
If I recall, the DD designation comes from how fast you can fire right?
Nope
a bolter would rip your arm straight off, so extreme genetic engineering would be first
bolter rounds are roughly the size of a water bottle
Comes from bore size OR explosive charge
Is there a specific number for that?
IE, rifle above .50cal is a DD
Or does it vary by state?
National
But a .30cal could be a DD if it's explosive tipped above a certain amount
Don't know the amount, sorry
AFAIK US inherited the british gun sizing, then evolved it a bit, and then adopted metric alongside the old designations...
It is a bit of a mess
But bore cutoff is >12.7mm
I mean, trying to name the different calibers are like naming pokemon at this point
Barring C&R exemptions and shotguns
Actually, get in voice
can you hear me?
I can
