Magazine safety is less annoying if you have a backup gun

Yeah, the 1911 is a classic, and it probably will work fine for whatever you need it for, but it's still over a 100 year old design. Improvements have been made in that time whether you think they were needed or not.

As an example, a Glock 17 weighs 10% less than a BHP but holds 2 more rounds. 1911 weighs 10% more than the BHP.

Not that I'm advocating Glocks, but it's a ubiquitous modern pistol.

In the grand scheme of things, handguns don't matter. The only reason people carry them is because it's impractical to conceal an AR-15.

Find one you can use effectively and stick with it
