@EmeseGab if you are still in school, idk start with that if your school has any kind of news or media club or organization. Or at least seems willing to make one. So then you can start doing school and local news. Then start branching out from there.

Also, if you local level of government has meetings which are open to the public, go to them and just start taking notes, see if you hear anything interesting.

I also love the thought of doing something like Tim, slowly building up a career and then going independant but what skills do i need for it? Because journalism is expanding and its no longer just writing articles, its so much more

It's always been much more, it's just the articles gave you a window. But like I said, start locally. Perhaps look at schooling for it but if you don't want to do that then just do your own thing and pitch the stories to local news outlets. Do that for a year or two, keeping in mind you will probably get rejected a lot of the time but those stories that due, idk, trying putting them up on a blog, or run them past online message boards and friends and family with an interest in ensuring your integrity.

If you have a blog where you post stories for free of ideas that seem to get rejected, you are basically starting to build a portfolio if you want to get a job, but also create a change to build your own fan base. Then you can move towards things like patreon and YouTube.

Just remember to report only what you see, and only what you can find the reputable. An article from a blog or news agency can only tell you what and how that blog or news agency is reporting on, not likely the facts about what they are actually reporting on. Those you need to dig through their soruces and read those.

Don't try and speculate without making it clear that what you are speculating is your.opinion only, not the facts.
