a defintion that uses similes is a poor definition. similes and metaphors are ment to be used as reinforcements to definitions that can stand on their own to someone who understands them within their context. if you take the simile you used in that defintion of race away your left with "race is just human breeds" which means that breeds are also just a synonym for race as is "subspecies"
