That's not a bad sentiment @Arch-Fiend, we are ultimately the arbiters of what is or isn't true for ourselves.
ultimately even then were flawed, so really i dont worry to much about what the truth is, 99% of us are just going to assume the truth is what we think anyway
im going to assume the truth, and when i have more evidence ill assume again and perhaps contradict my former self
@Arch-Fiend Mate what is your gripe. Why do y'all have to get so argumentative all I said is that I don't like smug armchair commentators and that Tim isn't one since he isn't being snarky, isn't being condescending and cuts right to the point. Tries to be objective, etc. You have to see the distinction I am making. How much more clear do I have to make it before you understand? He is more like Phillip De Franco in this way than, say, Paul Joseph Watson, Sargon, etc.
@Chlodovech You're acting like a smug armchair commenter while decrying smug armchair commenters.
Well that's just, like, yer opinion, mate.
...
I didn't do shit lol I don't know what I did even wrong.
I said something, you got argumentative over nothing.
I said something and you got defensive over nothing.
I don't think anyone is angry with you.
Because you misconstrued what I said.
And then seem to condemn me for some perceived mistake I made.
You presented your point badly then.
Alright.
I guess that's settled than. Can we move on?
I presented my point badly. But now all is good. No more need to drag this out lol
So we agree then?
That you misunderstood me because I didn't elaborate well enough.
Sure.
I don't.
See? This is what I said about you not understanding me.
This was never about opinions
I don't care about opinions
I wanted journalism, I wanted reporting, I wanted basic observations
Unskewed, untempered, I want news.
Fuck opinions lol
youve said they arnt great thinkers, their not informed scholars, and they are so pretentious. that they are random blebs with opinions just like the rest of us. my argument, and my only arguement is simply, no one isint a random pleb with opinions even if they are the most respected scholar in their field. an appeal to authority is meaningless in matters of truth due to the inherent bias of the perceiver of any "truth". someone you walk past on the street may say the truth to you and the president of your country may lie, the only way you know is by guessing which one is actually the truth. infact even science doesent really or shouldent really care how long youve been working, the key to truth is science is actualy just if you can repeat results you claim to occure at the end of a reaction before the scrutiny of other people who will try to find better explanations for what youve claimed and show them.
Tim injects his point of view and his experiences into what he says, and it's not just the facts.
you made character claims btw that was mostly why i felt the need to be argumentitive. if thats not obvious
Also why I said you were being dismissive @Chlodovech
Dismissive to things that isn't news. It's all a matter of preference
This was never about an objective judgement I am just some guy with opinions and I prefer one thing over the other.
Why am I condemned for being dismissive of opinions?
I'm not condemning you for being dismissive I've asked you what makes for a valid opinion verses and invalid one, and you response is "journalism".
i think your fine to dismiss opinions, i dont think your fine to make accusations of character against other people especially if i can point out how that adhom doesent matter
I don't have an answer to your question becuase you're talking about a different subject than the one I am speaking of. @Dennafen
I was specifically talking about that video.
truth is established with observation and rationalization. journalists cover observation (unfortunately most slipping in rationalization that doesent matter and often twists the observation when they dont just doctor the observation in the first place) where as armchair commentators cover rationalization by presenting a broader perspective onto the observation
What can I say? An opinion is probably more valid if it's actually true or well reasoned.
