Wasnt cause they democrat, socialist or republican.
Just that they wanted change.
I was one of those but always saw myself as republican.
I'm left-ish, as in, the wealthy in today's day and age are the nobles of yesteryear, and that means that as well as their privilege, they have duties. *Noblesse obliege* is the French term.
I'm progressive as in, the current status quo isn't the best, and change is needed.
I'm liberal as in, keep government the fuck out of my private life, it has nothing to do there.
Ill say, I just want smaller government, and more personal freedom, well as long as does not infringe on anothers.
I'm also borderline absolutist on gun rights.
Against immigration from the third world
You sure you left leaning?
More like centrist
I'm left-leaning economically.
Yeah you don’t sound left leaning.
I think the rich should be taxed, I also think there should be tax-funded healthcare...
Well that does makes sense, but I was always under the assumption that left/right was more than just economy
STEM should be tax-funded, outside of that you gotta pay your own college
Keep it to stem as well. So many non essential degrees.
But who gets to declare one non essential actually
They will be calling gender studies essential.
Gender studies isn't STEM, because it doesn't involve hard facts.
Ehh I guess I agree with Somi on that point, but no trust in the govt to know which ones to put tax dollars into
Basically that
I also believe in the tax funding of things like culture, but by that I mean, actual culture and not modern art.
Still that is subjective unfortunately.
Also things like at least government-majority-share, if not straight up nationalized public transport systems
And well, its not just the tax dollars, is the attention given to post modernist art by journalists and art critics.
I'm this weird as fuck combination of left and right ideals
People are different, what a shocker /s
People like Sargon have been going 'what should our name be as a movement'
I like the term 'pragmatic liberalism'
Joking aside, just goes on to say that the left/nazi thing is just bs
Or just classical liberalism
No, no.
Classical liberalism is generally considered to be solidly on the right.
At least, in places outside the US
Huh, didnt realize that
Left/Right shouldn’t really be the main focus. It should be libertarianism/authoritarianism.
I like the term pragmatic, because it indicates people in the movement are willing to hold left wing viewpoints and right wing viewpoints on different issues at the same time.
I.E. no ideology automatically holds the right answers.
And well, does not sound pretentious
And liberals, because, well
Left/right changes far too often to be accurate I think.
Liberal
