so idk what you mean

2018-01-20 16:32:01 UTC

Websites are begining to censor

2018-01-20 16:32:09 UTC

not really

2018-01-20 16:32:09 UTC

deciding what can and can not be said or seen

2018-01-20 16:32:55 UTC

if you are referring to the daily stormer, they actually violated the ToS of their DNS provider

2018-01-20 16:33:08 UTC

lol no im not im just noticing the trends

2018-01-20 16:33:29 UTC

ok but

2018-01-20 16:33:37 UTC

a VPN doesn't stop websites from censoring

2018-01-20 16:33:49 UTC

I never said it would

2018-01-20 16:33:57 UTC

but then how is that a step forward

2018-01-20 16:34:14 UTC

Having options made aware means people can consider things in a broader sense

2018-01-20 16:34:42 UTC

Im not talking about fixing issues here im just saying that alot of tools are out there and people dont know about them

2018-01-20 16:34:59 UTC

Any awareness of any tool is a step forward for people

2018-01-20 16:35:12 UTC

and if it helps aleviate the concerns of others hurray

2018-01-20 16:37:42 UTC

but in most cases VPNs don't actually help you, especially for websites with ads since they use many forms of browser identification

2018-01-20 16:38:33 UTC

Well I wouldnt know about all that

2018-01-20 16:41:31 UTC

good paper

2018-01-20 16:42:11 UTC

ill give it a read ^^

2018-01-20 20:40:10 UTC

this is smart

2018-01-20 20:40:18 UTC

"A pair of California lawmakers want to claw back some of steep tax cuts that corporations will receive under the federal tax overhaul signed last month by President Donald Trump."

2018-01-20 20:53:19 UTC

That could also be read as "A pair of California lawmakers get greedy and make a move that might drive businesses out of California"

2018-01-20 20:53:28 UTC

it sure could

2018-01-20 20:53:34 UTC

and they're dumb

2018-01-20 20:57:28 UTC

For some reason, this reminds me of Seattle raising it's minimum to $15, causing many of the businesses to shut down, leave, or automate.

2018-01-20 20:58:42 UTC

what makes these types of lawmakers think that businesses who run on razer-thin margins in many industries are able to survive without passing the costs on to their customers

2018-01-20 20:59:39 UTC

^ this is the result of that type of thinking

2018-01-20 21:00:45 UTC

Bigger businesses don't get too hurt, since again, they can just leave or automate. Smaller business and smaller/local shops, though, just can't function or keep up.

2018-01-20 21:01:50 UTC

the problem is those small businesses employ the most people

2018-01-20 21:02:00 UTC

That's one of the big arguments behind the Fair Tax proposal. Make everything a retail-level sales tax because big companies just pass their tax costs on to their customers anyways.

2018-01-20 21:02:19 UTC

I sort of agree

2018-01-20 21:02:26 UTC

but sales tax hurts the poor more than the rich

2018-01-20 21:02:27 UTC

I don't know if the Fair Tax proposal would actually work, but that's the premise they push

2018-01-20 21:03:00 UTC

I think property tax would be a better way to go

2018-01-20 21:03:13 UTC

because housing value typically is lockstep with income and/or wealth

2018-01-20 21:03:21 UTC

Usually, but not always

2018-01-20 21:03:32 UTC

Sometimes really wealthy peopele choose not to have a lot of property

2018-01-20 21:03:53 UTC

oh I agree, some very rich people live meager lives

2018-01-20 21:04:13 UTC

I'm actually ok with a straight up flat tax on income
