common sense gun laws are just an appeal to emotion,

2018-04-01 08:53:55 UTC

Yeah... the emotion of „think of the children“ (which usually gets a „why? What are you hiding?“ from me)

2018-04-01 08:53:59 UTC

its common sense in the middle east to rape girls if they don't dress "modestly" enough,
So if you go with "Just use common sense" then cultures will clash

2018-04-01 08:54:02 UTC

Well, it is funny people speak of "common sense" gun laws as if they are a self-explanatory thing, yet when asked they can't name a single provision.

2018-04-01 08:54:56 UTC

its because there isn't any such provisions, "Common sense" is subjective,

Right-wingers think its common sense to work for your share
Left-wingers think its common sense that as long as you work (at anything) you deserve as much as anyone that works an equal amount of time

2018-04-01 08:55:29 UTC

Christians think its common sense to pray to god
Atheists think its common sense to be a nice guy that finishes last

2018-04-01 08:55:38 UTC

You'd be surprised how many people don't know that automatic weapons are already banned in the US, for the most part.

2018-04-01 08:56:50 UTC

thats because many don't know what "semi-automatic" means, they just go with that meme of a feminist reading somethign that has the word "man" in teh sentence and get triggered

2018-04-01 08:56:55 UTC

Common sense? Weapons are made for killing, killing is illegal so weapons should be illegal. So repeal the second, and ignore the fact that criminals will not give up any guns and will be further armed by a thriving black market.

2018-04-01 08:57:32 UTC

i agree! back to swords and maces!

2018-04-01 08:57:35 UTC

😛

2018-04-01 08:57:57 UTC

but yes you're absolutely right

2018-04-01 08:58:24 UTC

And again, with the "well just call the police" argument, I would normally ask what if they don't show up on time. With the Parkland shooting I now get to ask, "what if the police don't do anything?"

2018-04-01 08:58:48 UTC

but thats my take on pretty much every single "leftist" argument nowadays, its literally like they took a valid Issue, and cut out the last 50% of it

2018-04-01 08:58:48 UTC

Emotion says „guns bad“, logic says „no guns worse because bo guns not happening“

2018-04-01 09:01:08 UTC

People being offended is bad, but it breeds strength and you can't "never offend" anyone

Gun violence can quickly escalate, but if you make guns illegal, criminals can still use them so you'd disarm citizens

Censorship can help against stupid ideas, but censorship can also prevent good ideas from being spread

Child labor is a bad thing, but the alternative is that they have to find other more terrible means to survive in those countries (prostitution etc)

2018-04-01 09:01:17 UTC

You always have to think of the consequences and side effects more than of what you are actually trying to achieve... and thats not really intuitive when you are guided by emotion.

2018-04-01 09:02:26 UTC

You can‘t not offend.

2018-04-01 09:02:50 UTC

Slavery is the worst thing ever, but maybe you shouldn't be buying that Apple phone, and starbucks latte used with african beans

2018-04-01 09:02:52 UTC

😛

2018-04-01 09:02:55 UTC

Even just doing/saying nothing can be offensive.

2018-04-01 09:04:29 UTC

Just be sure to stay out of the UK when you say something on the internet... they jail people for wrongthink.

2018-04-01 09:04:41 UTC

well, they cant get me if i'm anonymous! 😛

2018-04-01 09:05:17 UTC

You really think you are anonymous on the internet?

2018-04-01 09:05:38 UTC

to be fair, i used to think NO i'm not

2018-04-01 09:06:12 UTC

but secret services thinking that everything is russia now despite no evidence etc, has led me to believe i can get away with it

2018-04-01 09:06:23 UTC

simply because modern "civil protection" is getting incompetent

2018-04-01 09:06:31 UTC

like uhm

2018-04-01 09:06:34 UTC

in holland here

2018-04-01 09:06:55 UTC

last month, the ING bank website got DDossed for a day

2018-04-01 09:06:59 UTC

I don't think the actually believe that it's Russia. I think they're just using that as a scapegoat.

2018-04-01 09:07:02 UTC

and secret services said it was russia

2018-04-01 09:07:12 UTC

turns out it was a local 18 year old boy that did it for "the lulz"

2018-04-01 09:07:28 UTC

Well... the media mafia on the other hand is really good at abusing laws to find people.

2018-04-01 09:08:32 UTC

well i've never openly stated my identity on any open forums etc, that was connected to my nicknames Jayred or Dr.Wol

2018-04-01 09:08:54 UTC

so if they find out, they'll have gotten that info from some company that has said they'd protect my privacy, which means i can sue

2018-04-01 09:09:13 UTC

There is a difference between the public statements of secret services and their secret information 😁

2018-04-01 09:09:14 UTC

Not if they invoke anti-terrorism laws.

2018-04-01 09:09:30 UTC

Which, as indicated now by the UK, is possible.

2018-04-01 09:09:31 UTC

i'm not gonna sue the state, i'm gonna sue said company for violating my privacy

2018-04-01 09:10:32 UTC

Good luck with that 😁
