nah thats a reverse fact,

due to progressive taxes, low income people pay less tax money,

If they gamble all their money away, the big gambling emporiums with their larger taxes, would be paying way more

2018-04-19 12:24:00 UTC

@I AM ERROR gambling legality is closely related to prostitution's legality. Its manly just for "moral" reasons.

2018-04-19 12:28:58 UTC

also upper class people with a "not in my back yard" mentality

2018-04-19 12:40:22 UTC

Normally I'm against giving the government more powr to control or regulate anything, but given the addictive nature of lootboxes and crates, I'm fine with this one concession.

2018-04-19 12:40:56 UTC

Then again, I'm also against drugs being illegal, so I hate this 'middle ground' stuff we have going on where some substances are legal, but others are not.

2018-04-19 12:41:04 UTC

It's like, either ban all drugs, or make them all legal.

2018-04-19 12:41:14 UTC

Either ban gambling or don't.

2018-04-19 12:45:05 UTC

keep in mind i am not in favor of more rules

2018-04-19 12:45:16 UTC

im in favor of recognizing lootboxes as they are

2018-04-19 12:45:19 UTC

gambling

2018-04-19 12:45:29 UTC

and applying the rules of gambling to lootboxes too

2018-04-19 12:45:55 UTC

aka no minors

2018-04-19 12:46:15 UTC

Yeah, I get that argument, but then with that same logic you have to do the same thing to card packs, like in Magic the Gathering.

2018-04-19 12:47:30 UTC

The argument *for* lootboxes up until this point has been "but you always get *something* for what you pay for, so it's not *really* gambling guys.
Even though it feeds off of the same risk-taking part of the brain *as* gambling... but it's totally **NOT** the same thing, guys!

2018-04-19 12:48:09 UTC

hmmm

2018-04-19 12:48:20 UTC

maybe kids should not be allowed to buy random card packs too

2018-04-19 12:48:40 UTC

though i have to admit, it seems ok for card packs

2018-04-19 12:48:53 UTC

i bought plenty of pokemon card packs myself

2018-04-19 12:48:57 UTC

well not plenty, but enough

2018-04-19 12:49:21 UTC

In an online game like Hearthstone, I would argue not, because of how easy and convenient they've made it to buy them. It's much easier to get 'hooked' onto opening card packs in an online game than in a brick-and-mortar store.

2018-04-19 12:49:40 UTC

im just wondering if i can justify the difference between card packs and lootboxes..

2018-04-19 12:49:57 UTC

even if they are digital card packs...

2018-04-19 12:50:39 UTC

if i recall correctly the overall value of a card pack from pokemon is always the same, if you count cathegories

2018-04-19 12:50:40 UTC

like

2018-04-19 12:50:52 UTC

1 shiny, couple of energies and a couple of basic pokemon

2018-04-19 12:51:36 UTC

oh and tech cards

2018-04-19 12:51:38 UTC

Still really similar to lootboxes, only lootboxes typically have a variety of items, not just cards, but then that's really hair-splitting at that point.

2018-04-19 12:52:32 UTC

its also possible im just biased in favour of collectable cards cause i didnt feel like it effected me so much

2018-04-19 12:52:45 UTC

never had any experience with lootboxes as a kid

2018-04-19 12:53:09 UTC

Before I knew what I was doing, I let myself spend $500 on Hearthstone...

2018-04-19 12:53:13 UTC

Years ago.

2018-04-19 12:53:25 UTC

And I don't even play that game anymore today.

2018-04-19 12:53:41 UTC

500 is like my gaming budget for over a year lel

2018-04-19 12:53:54 UTC

including components fyi

2018-04-19 12:54:22 UTC

I don't have a particular budget, but yeah I definitely don't spent that much on a single game unless I've been playing it for years.

2018-04-19 12:55:09 UTC

Like last year I spent quite a bit on gaming, but only because the Nintendo Switch came out.

2018-04-19 12:55:14 UTC

too give you an idea, i consider a game worth it, if it provided an hour of enjoyable gameplay for every euro spent

2018-04-19 12:55:25 UTC

most games dont make that treshold tho

2018-04-19 12:55:28 UTC

so i wait for sales

2018-04-19 12:55:34 UTC

i never play shit on release anymore

2018-04-19 12:55:55 UTC

I rarely buy games on release or preorder anymore, with Nintendo being the exception.
