Fair enough.

2018-05-01 01:17:19 UTC

Frankly, the last convo probably belonged in shitposting

2018-05-01 01:17:42 UTC

shitposting is for everything else really.
plus you can actually preview media there

2018-05-01 01:17:56 UTC

Oh shit

2018-05-01 01:17:57 UTC

Noice

2018-05-01 01:29:26 UTC

@Timcast doesn't seem to respond to emails with story tips

2018-05-01 01:29:33 UTC

any better way of reaching him?

2018-05-01 01:29:52 UTC

that won't result in a restraining order?

2018-05-01 01:29:58 UTC

lol yes

2018-05-01 01:30:07 UTC

Maybe he's doing something like sleeping or working on something else?

2018-05-01 01:30:36 UTC

i mean, it's perfectly possible that I'm just interested in something retarded taht nobody else will care about

2018-05-01 01:30:48 UTC

or that he can't understand spergy emails with a shitload of links

2018-05-01 01:30:58 UTC

I generally give at least a few hours for a response to an email.

2018-05-01 01:31:06 UTC

it's been 2 days

2018-05-01 01:31:33 UTC

Ah, well then I don't know.

2018-05-01 01:32:25 UTC

long story short, the San Fran Public library has an art exhibit featuring the "degenderettes"

2018-05-01 01:32:32 UTC

including tons of weapons

2018-05-01 01:32:57 UTC

"bloodstained" shirts with stuff like "I punch TERFS"

2018-05-01 01:33:21 UTC

TERFs and other feminists are pissed, mostly because it glorifies violence by men against women

2018-05-01 01:33:34 UTC

Ha nitpicky point, most violence against lesbians is committed by lesbians, contra article.

2018-05-01 01:33:54 UTC

and are reviewbombing the library on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sfpl.org/reviews/?ref=page_internal

2018-05-01 01:34:00 UTC

But interesting story I'm peeking at anyway.

2018-05-01 01:34:34 UTC

nonstop arguing for several days in those facebook comments, many complaints of 1A violation censorship (since public libraries are gov.)

2018-05-01 01:35:18 UTC

the library has double posted this in response: https://twitter.com/SFPublicLibrary/status/989219339306811392 but have not otherwise made comment

2018-05-01 01:35:48 UTC

people are contacting the mayor and other gov officials, but there is no other public response

2018-05-01 01:36:52 UTC

Also, many of the degenderettes were involved in antifa and the "Battle of Berkeley", lots of screenshots of the same shields, weapons, people, and props.

2018-05-01 01:37:13 UTC

The shirt has been taken down in response to the complaints, but the weapons have stayed.

2018-05-01 01:37:22 UTC

Seems like it's still playing out too.

2018-05-01 01:38:05 UTC

the most notable development since my original email to Tim and Emily was that THE GUARDIAN mentioned it in an incel article https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/apr/29/violent-misogyny-not-confined-to-internet-incels

2018-05-01 01:40:30 UTC

It's relevant for multiple reasons as I see.

2018-05-01 01:41:17 UTC

I thought so. Almost no mainstream reporting too, so far

2018-05-01 01:43:55 UTC

Does anyone know how the "exhibition" was funded? Or if, I guess. There's a case that given limited public space in a library for exhibitions that allowing it is in fact a form of promotion or endorsement, I suppose, if they were given the space without paying.

2018-05-01 01:44:18 UTC

If they rented it or such, then that argument is irrelevant, though

2018-05-01 01:47:48 UTC

Oh, funded by "Friends of the SFPL"

2018-05-01 01:47:56 UTC

seems like questions for a reporter to find out

2018-05-01 01:47:58 UTC

or that

2018-05-01 01:47:59 UTC

lol

2018-05-01 01:49:16 UTC

So, they're an external private funding source, that paid for the exhibition. Taking it down (partly) is probably a 1A issue.

2018-05-01 01:50:32 UTC

Maybe some wiggliness about calling for direct violence to neutralize the 1A issues?

2018-05-01 01:53:19 UTC

my suspicion is that mass flagging triggers facebook to take out the comments. it's not the admins of the library doing it
