The spoiler effect makes that pretty much impossible thanks to the game theory that arises from first past the post voting

I think that's alternative vote
Where they tally up all the votes based on people's number 1 and then whichever number 1 has the least votes is removed, and whoever voted for him has their 2nd choice added to the count instead
yea that one. that one sounds really nice
But of course with FPTP voting two parties end up with a ton of power. And who is it that we would depend on to change that system?

at this point we'd have to go back in time and pitch the idea to the founding fathers
Seems like it'd be REALLY hard to reform without some sort of revolution, and really I don't think that's a good option
maybe the current shakeup of the political climate will weaken the parties and give us an opening
if a party is collapsing a new party could force their way in using that as their platform
and it looks like a party collapse is pretty likely

yeah i definitely wouldn't trust it if voting reform was like 4th on their list
because politicians get away with totally ignoring stuff they said they'd do all the time
unless they emphasize it as their big thing, at which point they either deliver or they lose their entire voterbase

As a callback to a previous conversation about flag code, THAT is a defaced flag.
Isn't it technically illegal to disobey the flag code, but that the first amendment takes priority over it, so they can't actually penalize you for it?

so they can't be penalized.... however, things get a bit sticky in terms of the state level stuff. and if they school gets state funding, it may very well be legal for them to lose that funding
