Im not too sure if relligious values were the main drive for that.
Peoples morals and values vary wildly. I dont really have any comment on the first part, but alot of the sacredness of the 'family unit' or 'nuclear family' is related to religious/christian values (Which can be held even by people who arent religious at least in part) Also related to modesty surrounding sex, and whether it feels taboo to talk about it.
But I guess relligious values have declined lately as well. Where it counts.
Huh didnt realize that, its also the difference between that and well, people who jump around between multiple partners and never marrying.
Well, somebody can be a christian, go to church once in a while, pray, but in daily life give it next to no regard.
