How serious is that EU army thing?

2018-09-21 22:32:21 UTC

Like is there any actual policy for it, or is it just a vague idea that comes up every now and then?

2018-09-21 22:34:42 UTC

Gotta petition trump to remove troops from some of the EU and pull out of NATO before they get serious about that army and let Putin have fun poking around

2018-09-21 22:35:11 UTC

EU ministers have announced that 25 out of 28 bloc members will participate and jointly implement military projects in the future, and will pool resources and knowledge.

The EU hopes the defence union will be complete by 2025

2018-09-21 22:37:02 UTC

Merkel’s French counterpart Emmanuel Macron has been pushing for the creation of a combined EU military force that could be deployed to trouble spots around the world.

β€œI am in favor of President Macron’s proposal for an intervention initiative,” Merkel said

2018-09-21 22:37:14 UTC

so the 2 EU rulers are already on one page on the army

2018-09-21 22:41:08 UTC

AFD=alternative fΓΌr deutschland, single issue political part that is anti immigration. SPD=sozialdemokratische Partie Deutschland, the labour/ social democrats party. Not the democratic socialists, that would be the party, Die Linke ( The left)

2018-09-21 22:44:26 UTC

Out of curiosity, do any of the parties support freedom of speech?

2018-09-21 22:44:58 UTC

Oh im sure they all claim to

2018-09-21 22:45:14 UTC

Question is what their definition of free speech is

2018-09-21 22:45:58 UTC

Right, I guess do any of them actually support Freedom of speech like in the american sense

2018-09-21 22:46:15 UTC

Im not german, i just know a bit of the language.

2018-09-21 22:47:25 UTC

I don't think any nation has free speech like america

2018-09-21 22:48:02 UTC

They are all in favor of free speech, they just cant agree on the definition.

2018-09-21 22:48:10 UTC

True @Tornzy

2018-09-21 22:48:41 UTC

I know they don't but are parties trying to achieve that?

2018-09-21 22:48:47 UTC

In britain Ukip is

2018-09-21 22:49:10 UTC

If you say "Heil Hitler" in Germany or Austria, you get jail time.

2018-09-21 22:49:19 UTC

None of them do in the american sense

2018-09-21 22:49:27 UTC

At least not currently

2018-09-21 22:49:39 UTC

In german it is illegal to be a nazi, use the swastika or the roman salute. E.g nazi symbols must be removed from computer games before they can be released in germany.

2018-09-21 22:49:41 UTC

UKIP is the exception, though i dont think they have the power to do it

2018-09-21 22:50:10 UTC

They just passed legislation saying its ok to use nazi symbols in art and for educational purposes

2018-09-21 22:50:20 UTC
2018-09-21 22:50:27 UTC

The german government

2018-09-21 22:50:46 UTC

Gotcha

2018-09-21 22:52:07 UTC

If you want a simulation of the UK in the future just play We Happy Few

In somewhat related news, I saw a preview for a new piece from VICE on the Swedish elections and actually wanted to check it out (but its on HBO). I expect the full report to still be biased, but I think the reporter in it is one of the less bad reporters. https://youtu.be/xIrPSOdsM6U

2018-09-21 22:57:08 UTC

The reporter Michael Moynihan was the one who covered Evergreen and feminist college comedy and did a decent job. I also listened to a podcast he is on where he gave some other stuff from his Sweden visit. I found it interesting because he talks about how the Christians from the middle east are upset about letting Muslims come in because that is what they fled. [episode 114] http://wethefifth.com/

2018-09-21 22:57:39 UTC

Warning, all the people on the podcast are for more immigration, and in the second half they bend over to the feminist perspective on metoo and Kavanaugh. By the way, I call these kinds of people Cosmotarians = Cosmopolitan + Libertarian = World Citizen + humanity is a single moral community + left leaning libertarian. They also often follow many PC narratives so they can still hang out with their urban hipster friends. I don't remember where I originally saw the label Cosmotarian, but found it pretty accurate.

I did find it funny the woman doesn't even know her neighbor enough to know he was running for city council with the Swedish democrats. Like maybe if you made a bigger effort to integrate into the society and get to know your neighbors there would be less problems in the first place.

2018-09-22 01:24:34 UTC

Who all caught the Cruz/Beto debate?

2018-09-22 01:35:50 UTC

I didn’t. Was it good?

2018-09-22 02:23:34 UTC

Watching now. Pretty good so far. πŸ‘Œ

2018-09-22 04:57:09 UTC

```AFD=alternative fΓΌr deutschland, single issue political part that is anti immigration.```
That's how they started but they aren't anymore. They have a whole programm that nobody talks about and they are reduced to immigration. You can call them...
And they are not Anti-Immigration at all, just anti Mass-Immigration...
2018-09-22 04:59:43 UTC
```SPD=sozialdemokratische Partie Deutschland```
And they have the name Traitor Party as they betray everything they stand for, when they feel like it. For example in the election last year, the said they won't do a coalition with the CDU but in the end they did because if they didn't there would have been a new election as there was no gouvernment...
Because the greens had some demands that couldn't be further from the reality and the FDP gave them a reality check...

2018-09-22 05:00:48 UTC

```In german it is illegal to be a nazi, use the swastika or the roman salute. E.g nazi symbols must be removed from computer games before they can be released in germany.```
Didn't that change recently???
And it is allowed for art. Games aren't (yet) considered art.
2018-09-22 05:02:49 UTC
```They just passed legislation saying its ok to use nazi symbols in art and for educational purposes```
That's allowed for years at least for Movies and other things, just Games weren't considered Art, that might be the difference...

2018-09-22 05:28:01 UTC

Yes, earlier this year some indie game that no one cares about was given allowance in germany to include a swastica under the basis that games are art. But it's possible that big name publishers might still be scared to include them since they'll be the first AAA game to do so which would mean it'd get more attention, and everything you do these days is likely to cause a controversy.

Thanks for the clarification @Stefan Payne
I am not fully up to speed on current legislation in germany. So that could have changed.
