Here's a question that I genuinely don't know, but think it would be a reasonable thing to look into.

If I make a false accusation against someone that they stole something valuable from me. I mean high enough value that it's clearly into major felony territory (similar to Rape), what punishments would I get if it was proven that I knew it was false and did it just for trying to obtain money/fame and to damage that person?

Dunno, but i feel reparations are in order. But then again thats taxpayer money.

I'm thinking like... I walk up to ... pick a big name celebrity... Will Smith. Flashing my pure gold, diamond covered watch that I just claimed to have bought for 5 mil, all over his big party for his latest movie release. Then the next day, I openly accuse him of taking my watch when he's seen with a similar one.

A week later, it's found that I never lost my watch, that watch isn't the same as mine, and the whole thing was a con by me to ruin his name and try to score some cash.

What laws would I have broken, and what would be the punishment if I was fully prosecuted?

because these rape charges are worse than what I just described, but they're happening fucking constantly... 4 out of 4 rape accusations against a supreme court justice were found to have been lies.

the problem becomes it IS a libel/slander case

and as such, it is as hard to prove as a libel/slander case

now i agree, there should be a criminal aspect to using libel/slander to get someone jailed

maybe we DO need to embrace Sharia law on this one. No one should ever believe a rape accusation without 3 men to support the accuser.
