Logically it makes sense

2019-01-25 14:12:34 UTC

Morally i bet some.people would say its wrong to.do.that

2019-01-25 14:18:15 UTC

I’m very uncomfortable with forced sterilization regardless of the circumstances

2019-01-25 14:19:21 UTC

If somebody is so detestable or mentally ill where they shouldn’t be having babies they should either be in jail or in a mental institution

2019-01-25 14:19:32 UTC

Let me say it that way: in 20 years you'll say that the Japanese were right on this issue.

2019-01-25 14:19:40 UTC

because they thought logically, not emotionally.

2019-01-25 14:19:57 UTC

see <#509549100061163520>

2019-01-25 14:20:33 UTC

There are so few trans people in Japan and probably even fewer that want to have babies I doubt it will make a difference either way

2019-01-25 14:20:48 UTC

No, but here we have a ton of those.

2019-01-25 14:20:51 UTC

and they might have children.

2019-01-25 14:20:58 UTC

and of those children you will hear in 20 years.

2019-01-25 14:21:24 UTC

never expected japan of all places to be anti-futanari

2019-01-25 14:21:33 UTC

I fear that like 50% of them might be abused, maybe even more. And I mean that also in a sexual way.

2019-01-25 14:23:03 UTC

this ruling isint likely to stand very long to be honest

2019-01-25 14:23:16 UTC

that’s just speculation without any actual proof, they said the same thing about the infamous “crack babies” of the 80s and 90s

2019-01-25 14:24:21 UTC

I don’t really see a reason why gay or transgender parents are any more or less likely to molest their kids than straight parents

2019-01-25 14:28:53 UTC

In both cases of kids being molested by the parents the incidence rate is incredibly low, “punishment” of trans parents through forced sterilization is essentially punishment of a large population of innocent parents

2019-01-25 14:35:04 UTC

i think this is an interesting case because what we are calling forced is more of a matter of qualification. the japanese government does not force anything on anyone in this case but will not lable you the gender you want to have in their official language unless you meet criteria which with modern technology requires you to give up your reproductive capabilitys perminantly because they are basing your gender purely on your apparent sexual characteristics not even your technical sexual characteristics.

2019-01-25 14:37:16 UTC

this means if your comfertible with the law making a distinction between your gender and what you appear as then theres no problem (except maybe socially as the law often effects social perception) while on the other hand if you want to have a different gender you have to meet the nations standards for what a gender is, and that standard doesent have to be based on chromisomes but does require the most alteration to your sexual characteristics as you physically can

2019-01-25 14:40:37 UTC

the article specificly frames this in a way that favores their ideology where an interpritation on the other side is completely viable to say that japan has simply decided what it means to be transgender

2019-01-25 14:41:28 UTC

japan now has a rule, a set definition for what transgender is and it actually aligns with what most people want it to be i would say, even early trans people before it became a trend would be happy with this definition

Gooood thing I don't use any of them!

******erberg...

2019-01-25 16:03:28 UTC

I reluctantly use WhatsApp but that’s it. May delete it but it is sort of vital.

2019-01-25 16:14:16 UTC

I have like 3 people I want to keep in contact with that refuse to use anything but the most normie communication platforms. Gonna push for a migration

2019-01-25 16:21:46 UTC

Wasn't there something a while back showing that WhatsApp was a haven for CP?

2019-01-25 16:23:55 UTC

Any genuinely encrypted app will be used for illegal activity

2019-01-25 16:25:36 UTC

Any service that guarantees privacy, especially anonymity will eventually attract people interested in black market goods/services, or people interested in organizing/planning criminal behaviour

2019-01-25 16:26:30 UTC

I know Zuckerburg was also talking about starting a crypto currency for WhatsApp, that came out shortly after the report about CP. The timing on that seemed a little weird.

2019-01-25 16:29:56 UTC

Generally these things are planned in advance. I would actually honestly expect WhatsApp to go the other way and drop proper encryption in favour of some surveil-able bullshit

2019-01-25 16:30:16 UTC

Assuming it hasn't already

2019-01-25 16:31:38 UTC

So I know that if you download the TOR browser that can actually put you on a government watch list, do you think they'll start doing that with WhatsApp either in the US or in other countries? If they don't already I mean.

2019-01-25 16:40:22 UTC

Possibly.

Ok, wth is with the Roger Stone thing? All I saw was that he's indicted for trying to buy something from wikileaks (and that doesn't make sense)
