They had pocahontas and oprah on it

2018-07-12 18:54:07 UTC

incidentally, as far as I can tell, the _only_ thing that has meaningfully changed since trump was elected was the tax cut. Everything else is either "pretty much the same as before but nobody complained when obama did it", "marginal change that doesn't really matter", or "a lot of hype over something that isn't really happening"

2018-07-12 18:54:18 UTC

I’m to young lel

2018-07-12 18:54:22 UTC

Peace with nk was nice

2018-07-12 18:54:42 UTC

Yea everyone freaking about that seemed so weird to me

2018-07-12 18:54:43 UTC

^^ I'm cautiously optimistic but not yet convinced that anything really changed. They could be sneaky

2018-07-12 18:54:44 UTC

Arguably luck

2018-07-12 18:54:56 UTC

I’m like come on this is the chance of a lifetime

2018-07-12 18:55:12 UTC

Mind you any deals made should have been on paper

2018-07-12 18:55:12 UTC

but, straight up, if the NK stuff works out the way trump seems to say it will, that alone makes him one of the greatest presidents of all time

2018-07-12 18:55:13 UTC

Then again kim lost his nuke sites, and trumps sure as heck gonna keep an eye to see if he rebuilds them.

2018-07-12 18:55:31 UTC

Well if nk and sk become k

2018-07-12 18:55:35 UTC

Trusting a handshake is reckless

2018-07-12 18:55:37 UTC

That would be amazing.

2018-07-12 18:56:15 UTC

We’ve already hacked them before anyway

2018-07-12 18:56:20 UTC

Well to be honsest I gave some thought if I were american and voted.

2018-07-12 18:56:57 UTC

Id also vote trump. But only cause I didnt like the lefties I see online in nz.

2018-07-12 18:57:12 UTC

part of the thing is tha tI don't think the president has significant meaningful power in the US

2018-07-12 18:57:48 UTC

formally most of teh things presidents are credited with/blamed for are not under their control at all. And of teh things that are under their control (military/foreign policy, eg) I assume that they aren't _really_ in charge

2018-07-12 18:58:00 UTC

like if trump said "land war in china" the generals would just say "no" and it wouldnt' happen

2018-07-12 18:58:15 UTC

The Presidents power has been increasing since FDR

2018-07-12 18:58:20 UTC

Like significantly

2018-07-12 18:58:25 UTC

deep state actually runs things

2018-07-12 18:58:54 UTC

Like remember we have not declared any actual wars and yet we are in them

2018-07-12 18:59:02 UTC

That’s because of executive action

2018-07-12 18:59:12 UTC

And then making excuses to stay

2018-07-12 18:59:23 UTC

actually, to make a more moderated comment: I don't think that the institutions that exist n this country to carry out executive will, would do so, if doing so would be deeply destabilizing or directly counter to what they want

2018-07-12 18:59:36 UTC

and most of what they want is a boring normal day where they cash in their paycheque and go home at 5

2018-07-12 18:59:39 UTC

Mind you the nature of war is different now as it’s not State V State much anymore

2018-07-12 18:59:50 UTC

so I'm not worried about trump destroying the country the way the media screams

2018-07-12 19:00:21 UTC

Im in the opposite camp, im worried that the left will give the president too much power

2018-07-12 19:00:32 UTC

Gun controll is a big one.

2018-07-12 19:00:42 UTC

So you're saying war has changed?

2018-07-12 19:00:50 UTC

Tbh regardless of who would have won the other side would freak the fuck out on their respective media platforms

2018-07-12 19:01:09 UTC

It's no longer about nations or ideologies, but an endless series of proxy battles?

2018-07-12 19:01:11 UTC

Though the right didnt freak out as much on obama.

2018-07-12 19:01:21 UTC

And it sure didnt last two years

2018-07-12 19:01:25 UTC

Though the right didnt freak out as much on obama.

2018-07-12 19:01:26 UTC

I think we should restrict the Pres. Rights to executive actions or at least reverse a number of them

2018-07-12 19:01:39 UTC

I think we should restrict the Pres. Rights to executive actions or at least reverse a number of them

2018-07-12 19:01:44 UTC

Well they did
