My Dad's Grandfather
```Staff Sergeant William H. Savier of the 53rd Armored Infantry Battalion, U.S. Army.
Enlisted on 03/17/43 and served until 10/26/45 and despite years of insisting he spent his military career on K.P. Duty, he also participated in battle campaigns in Northern France, Rhineland and Ardennes.
A POW he was awarded, amongst other commendations, multiple Purple Hearts, the Distinguished Unit Citation, the Good Conduct Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Service Ribbon, the Combat Infantry Badge and the Bronze Star. ```
We've kept those medals, and his ceremonial sword is something I keep close track of and sometime soon I'll try and get professionally cleaned up, it's a little worn
You know I was looking at a baby and for a long time I used to think that babies have near infinite potential but now I dont think that people are just products of their iq and environment.
If someone is born poor and high iq they can move up
If they are born rich and low iq they will most likely drop in social stature
If poor and stupid they will do nothing
If rich and intelligent they can rule the world
Is that a bad thing though?
Is it wrong that the choices if your ancestors come to fruition in you
America is one of if the only countries in the world that a poor person with a good idea can be more
Only if that poor person as a child gets adequate nutrition and basic schooling
Poor nutrition starves the brain. Kills potential before it can blossom..
I dont know if thats how potential works
From what ive heard you cant go up
Except through learning a new language and playing an instrument
The brain is part of the body. If children don't have proper nutrition, thier brains will be stunted. It's really sad. That's why we have SNAP and school lunches.
We stopped physical evolution
Do we want to stop mental evolution by keeping stupid people alive
Do we really want to handicap our species like that?
Or if he gets sick and dies before he can do wonders
My point is we need to invest in all kids so that they can match thier potential
If we don't, other countries will and we will be poorer for it
I will invest in my kids others can do the same if they want
I wont invest in something that isnt mine
And thus we become poorer as a nation and the pie gets smaller. :-(
Doubtful
Welfare programs have many ill effects
I have yet to see any evidence showing they make society better
If you want to say they placate the stupid and keep them from learning id say thats possible
Ensuring kids grow up healthy and strong seems to be a winner. Healthy kids are less likely to grow to be dependent adults.
I see no evidence to support that claim
The welfare state as we have it has not only halted minority advancement it also took away the advancements in society many black people had made
But at least they eat and vote
#bluewave
Thomas sowell is an economist who has spent a very long time looking at social programs I would bet if he was asked directly he would say evil people made these programs to hurt his people
Everyone is ok spending everyone else’s money
Without asking
As long as programs dont become corrupt and statistically work, I'm ok with helping out... I have a problem with welfare abuse and corruption... I'm a firm believer in resiliency/self reliance as well.
