If poor and stupid they will do nothing

2018-11-11 16:31:00 UTC

If rich and intelligent they can rule the world

2018-11-11 16:31:41 UTC

Is that a bad thing though?

2018-11-11 16:32:13 UTC

Is it wrong that the choices if your ancestors come to fruition in you

2018-11-11 16:33:47 UTC

America is one of if the only countries in the world that a poor person with a good idea can be more

2018-11-11 16:47:46 UTC

Only if that poor person as a child gets adequate nutrition and basic schooling

2018-11-11 16:48:21 UTC

Poor nutrition starves the brain. Kills potential before it can blossom..

2018-11-11 16:52:01 UTC

I dont know if thats how potential works

2018-11-11 16:52:30 UTC

From what ive heard you cant go up

2018-11-11 16:53:13 UTC

Except through learning a new language and playing an instrument

2018-11-11 17:10:55 UTC

The brain is part of the body. If children don't have proper nutrition, thier brains will be stunted. It's really sad. That's why we have SNAP and school lunches.

2018-11-11 17:12:59 UTC

We stopped physical evolution

2018-11-11 17:13:15 UTC

Do we want to stop mental evolution by keeping stupid people alive

2018-11-11 17:13:29 UTC

Do we really want to handicap our species like that?

2018-11-11 17:15:16 UTC

But you could have a genius who never manifests because you don't feed him well as a child

2018-11-11 17:15:56 UTC

Or if he gets sick and dies before he can do wonders

2018-11-11 17:16:21 UTC

My point is we need to invest in all kids so that they can match thier potential

2018-11-11 17:16:47 UTC

If we don't, other countries will and we will be poorer for it

2018-11-11 17:17:17 UTC

I will invest in my kids others can do the same if they want

2018-11-11 17:17:30 UTC

I wont invest in something that isnt mine

2018-11-11 17:18:19 UTC

And thus we become poorer as a nation and the pie gets smaller. :-(

2018-11-11 17:18:30 UTC

Doubtful

2018-11-11 17:18:46 UTC

Welfare programs have many ill effects

2018-11-11 17:19:02 UTC

I have yet to see any evidence showing they make society better

2018-11-11 17:19:36 UTC

If you want to say they placate the stupid and keep them from learning id say thats possible

2018-11-11 17:19:42 UTC

Ensuring kids grow up healthy and strong seems to be a winner. Healthy kids are less likely to grow to be dependent adults.

2018-11-11 17:21:22 UTC

I see no evidence to support that claim

2018-11-11 17:22:20 UTC

The welfare state as we have it has not only halted minority advancement it also took away the advancements in society many black people had made

2018-11-11 17:23:37 UTC

But at least they eat and vote

2018-11-11 17:23:48 UTC

#bluewave

2018-11-11 17:26:58 UTC

Thomas sowell is an economist who has spent a very long time looking at social programs I would bet if he was asked directly he would say evil people made these programs to hurt his people

2018-11-11 17:27:29 UTC

@Timcast seems to ignore things like this

2018-11-11 17:27:53 UTC

Everyone is ok spending everyone else’s money

2018-11-11 17:27:59 UTC

Without asking

2018-11-11 17:34:12 UTC

As long as programs dont become corrupt and statistically work, I'm ok with helping out... I have a problem with welfare abuse and corruption... I'm a firm believer in resiliency/self reliance as well.

2018-11-11 17:35:59 UTC

As we know government and private are all susceptible to abuse and corruption... we humans are clever things lol

2018-11-11 17:36:57 UTC

I also dont like the idea that I'm forced to help by government either...

2018-11-11 17:43:16 UTC

Unless we are willing to cull kids that have inadequate support, speaking entirely biologically it is better for us to ensure those kids grow up with the health and education to be productive members of society.

2018-11-11 17:44:28 UTC

Otherwise we almost ensure they will grow to be wards of the state, either due to welfare or the justice system.

2018-11-11 17:46:55 UTC

There's a lot of truth in that, and that's the struggle, where is the happy medium 😏

2018-11-11 18:09:21 UTC

Id rather the justice system take care of them than waste money on social programs just to have the justice system have to kick in afterwards
