col@stickula the main thing to watch is that a lot of the global warming stuff is perfect for taxation, specifically of stuff (petrol, and petrol products) whose availability is directly linked with not just personal mobility, but economic mobility.

so if somebody wants to build a bunch of nuclear, solar, wind etc power plants, invest in tech to clean stuff up etc, thats all reasonable, but if their main action is to tax the shit out of fuel, they probably have alterior motives (sometimes more idealogical, but often just tax revenue)

if the narrative isn't "here is a new way to go to work, as good or better then before", and is more "you need to go to work, sorry but GLOBAL WARMING WILL KILL US so enjoy your 150% increase in fuel prices etc" then watch out

so, i've seen multiple people on twitter talking about, and posting the pictures of the covington kids in blackface, and now this https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6616793/Kentucky-Catholic-high-school-Lincoln-Memorial-clash-allowed-blackface-pep-rallies.html?ITO=applenews

but they didn't look into what "blackout" means. Since I didn't know either, I looked it up. Turns out it's a trend of sports fans or team memebers that wear all black or use black body paint.

they also try to say something about how there was no one painting themselves blue at the 'blue out' event. but there are pictures online of people doing "white out" where they paint themselves in all white.

The trend isn't even that old. I have an article from 2008 talking about it being new.

People are using this as "evidence" of their racism. But there are other articles online talking about how the trend was "raising specters" of blackface or racism, and the people who were doing this said they didn't honestly think about it until it was mentioned.

"Crap, there's evidence that we were wrong. Quick! Find something else about these kids to complain about and maybe people will forget that we screwed up big time!"
