βI watched the Silver Swan, which had a living grace about his movement and a living intelligence in his eyes, watched him swimming about as comfortably and unconcernedly as if he had been born in a morass instead of a jewellerβs shop.β
It's the most interesting mechanical marvel I've heard of
just think, in 4 years after that was made the world changed forever
FREEDOM
yeah its older than the US
which we also invented ;P
you might have invented it
Automatons are really impressive. I like the one of the writing boy which can be programmed to write whatever you want it to
but we perfected it
fair enough π
π
Also the one of the Japanese archer because it actually shoots a miniature arrow which is hilarious to me
It's a completely wooden robot, that plays chess
It beat people like Churchill and Napoleon Bonaparte
there was another robot... that most footage was lost and I think it burnt in a fire or something
cant remember its name... like ernie or something
eric that was it
Yeah, that's the turk
this might sound weird
but old videos of automatons scare the shit out of me
It's still working
like clowns
or some shit
but im not scared of clowns
And it beat agrandmaster
nah this was a robot that stood up
its like a soulless being
oh I see I thought you were talking to me π
A magic shop guy rebuilt the turk, and it beat a grandmaster
There was a story where a guy tried to cheat, and the robot knocked off all the pieces from the board
It's really interesting
watching JRE with JBP
talking about the gulags and killing the farmers, then people died because no one was left to farm
same thing happening in South Africa
first robot built in 1928, stood up, looked left and right, sparks came from its teeth while it gave a four minute address
you think these people would realize history
people must have crapped their pants... or laughed.. whatever π https://www.telegraph.co.uk/content/dam/science/2016/05/10/eric2_trans_NvBQzQNjv4Bq9rg-P7f8wNnSS1PPckrMR-dXsnpCz3tP6_Ws0MCzAGg.png?imwidth=1240
would be nice to see someone do something as beautiful as the silver swan automaton again with todays tech... not with electricity, but just the materials, machining, 3d printing etc we could use
