On the whole Reddit "*Want People Banned For Speech? Ok How about You First?*" I strongly suspect that that they are not done with capping big "unwholesome" subs, they either kill a sub for being too bad for PR &/or because they can't strong arm a sub to conform to their standards, & exist more as setting an example for getting on their bad side, they also don't always have too kill a sub, they can also oust the mods with new ones like /r/anarchism losing mods because they let their sub be an anarchy (http://archive.is/EuIdU). Banning this specific user seems to be more of a case of sending message about what happens if you leak DMs of the admins to rouse people up against them.

My video today about the male feminist was killed by youtube algorithm

Honestly I cannot for the life of me understand why people expect a social media site that hides unpopular views by default to be a bastion of free speech and a path into the marketplace of ideas

2018-07-11 00:48:30 UTC

Controversial ideas have been aired on Reddit in spite of its construction and, from what I can tell, the attitudes of the larger community

2018-07-11 00:49:33 UTC

they want to be accepted

2018-07-11 00:49:36 UTC

jesus

2018-07-11 00:49:57 UTC

@Timcast reddit , youtube ... once bastions of free speech .... when a company gets bigger they always start policiing speech

2018-07-11 00:50:06 UTC

That's not quite something new

2018-07-11 00:50:14 UTC

tru ^

2018-07-11 00:50:19 UTC

Look at Harry Hay for example

2018-07-11 00:50:19 UTC

it def is not new

2018-07-11 00:50:24 UTC

And re: YT Algorithms and Policy, it just feels entirely random and arbitrary. I remember when HyperBitHero got basically demonetized across the board, and all he did was make videos about video games you might like and the villains in them

2018-07-11 00:51:02 UTC

You'll find his support for NAMBLA hidden very deep in one sentence in his wikipedia page buried under all his accomplishments for the LGBT

2018-07-11 00:51:32 UTC

i never knew what nambla was until southpark

2018-07-11 00:51:49 UTC

I thought it was a joke until a long time later

2018-07-11 00:52:06 UTC

That needed a THIS IS NOT A JOKE disclaimer like the scientology episode

2018-07-11 00:52:12 UTC

lol

2018-07-11 00:52:23 UTC

The Mormon episode got one too iirc

2018-07-11 00:52:43 UTC

i learned a lot from southpark

2018-07-11 00:53:47 UTC

I remember from last year something about BAMN being tied to NAMBLA

2018-07-11 00:55:26 UTC

Oh yeah. One of the founding members has close connections iirc

2018-07-11 00:55:58 UTC

Two birds with one stone :^)

2018-07-11 00:56:48 UTC

The revolutionary worker's league which is their parent company has ties

2018-07-11 00:56:48 UTC

I have

2018-07-11 00:56:52 UTC

i saw it when he posted it back in amy

2018-07-11 00:57:23 UTC

cool, I only just saw it

2018-07-11 01:03:33 UTC

He talked about it in one of his videos.

2018-07-11 01:03:43 UTC

He's right about it not being that viral.

2018-07-11 01:03:54 UTC

Half a million views really isn't that many.

2018-07-11 01:05:06 UTC

At the same time though it is likely that there are a lot of moderates who could easily bow out given the right circumstances

2018-07-11 01:05:29 UTC

The "mainstream" left are getting pretty fringe

2018-07-11 01:07:59 UTC

they are done

2018-07-11 01:08:07 UTC

they lost their structure

2018-07-11 01:08:16 UTC

the left became the right
