i think it comes down to people misunderstanding what IQ is, and having a lot of feelings about how a single metric can effect so much

for those that want to know, IQ is a mesurement of 'g'

like meter or mile is a measurement of distance

g is general cognitive ability

GENERAL meaning it is used across almost every task

when you take a association or picture solving IQ test, it is not only measuring your ability to puzzle things together

unless you practice for that specific test, you will get a score, you would get on another kind of IQ test too

we can do this because g is general, not specific

it is true there might be devisions in IQ, but this has been far from proven, and if history is anything to go by this will just end up like emotional intelligence.. a feel good suggestion with a lot of meme value

just no scientific value

(EQ turned out to be entirely personality driven, something we have much better established metrics for)

a person with a high IQ might become a doctor. this is not because a doctor learns a thing and then it stays the same forever. jobs that stay static in their requirements are usually reserved for low IQ people

so even though a doctor with high IQ can 'doctor' pretty well, it also likely means he could learn any other task much quicker then a lower IQ individual

the issue is, that he needs to apply himself first

yeah people who tend to think iq doesent mean very much in my experince dont actually know much about iq but insted have heard a lot of progressive propaganda being spread in academia

which is another reason why you never see any general geniuses

its very likely our doctor could have been a great scientist/engineer/you name it too
