but man the amount he'd gain lol

2018-07-17 02:13:50 UTC

Yeah i dont have the answer to that Pratel, though i think that alot of people that should vote dont during local elections

2018-07-17 02:13:52 UTC

also the libertarian vote

2018-07-17 02:14:06 UTC

"If you kill your enemies, they win" turns a rather sinister twist when you apply this logic to the elections

2018-07-17 02:14:18 UTC

Is Trudeau a mafia boss by any chance?

2018-07-17 02:14:22 UTC

(almost wrote librarian vote) hahahaha

2018-07-17 02:14:23 UTC

Wat

2018-07-17 02:14:40 UTC

What the crap are you talking about Uksio?

2018-07-17 02:14:55 UTC

Trudeau's famous quote

2018-07-17 02:15:05 UTC

LOL man i live in teh french province in canada and the whole english/french divide is a huge issue here

2018-07-17 02:15:20 UTC

Trudeau didnt say that

2018-07-17 02:15:23 UTC

Im pretty sure

2018-07-17 02:15:44 UTC

like he refused to answer questions in english in my township and our township is the most enlgish speaking part of QC after Montreal

2018-07-17 02:15:45 UTC

And if he did, it was probably in a middle east context or something?

2018-07-17 02:16:03 UTC

its was big story here lol being english is essentially a rpotected class

2018-07-17 02:16:50 UTC

theres actually a law called loi 101 (law 101) that is meant to protect french heritage by only allowing people whos parents went to english school (public or private) to go to english schools

2018-07-17 02:17:12 UTC

what it actually does is give us special rights though

2018-07-17 02:18:00 UTC

My alumni right here

2018-07-17 02:18:12 UTC

its like a classic SJW esque scenario because they wanted to protect the french which is a minority in canada but really it just gives engish people the option of both going to english or french school

2018-07-17 02:18:36 UTC

hence there are more anglophones that are perfectly bilingual then there are francophones

2018-07-17 02:18:57 UTC

so we have better job prospects not only in our province but also in NA

2018-07-17 02:19:50 UTC

mind you the speaking french part is only really to frill up your CV if you leave quebec. unless u go to new orleans or somewhere theres a traditional french minority

2018-07-17 02:20:41 UTC

IDK, can you spin it to show you're an international asset when it comes to doing business with France?

2018-07-17 02:21:14 UTC

yeah potentially though really once they hear you speak quebecois french theyd prolly want to do buisness with you even less

2018-07-17 02:21:52 UTC

on the otherhadn there isnt really tht prejudice with the ex france island colonies

2018-07-17 02:22:49 UTC

hm.

2018-07-17 02:24:45 UTC

tbh its really interesting politically here just because the sort of hyper-partisan polarised politics has been par for the course since the war of 1812

2018-07-17 02:24:55 UTC

*LOL i mean seven years war

2018-07-17 02:25:29 UTC

when great britan gained control of new france which is now quebec and essentially said all the french people already here could stay

2018-07-17 02:26:41 UTC

like theres been a couple close calls where there's been a refferendom on teh seperation of Quebec proposed.

2018-07-17 02:27:28 UTC

one was actually pretty recently but really there was one in like 1994 where it was like 50.1% against and 48.9% against succeding from canada

2018-07-17 02:28:04 UTC

funny because then the canadian stereotype of maple syrup wouldnt really make sense because Quebec produces like 90% of the maple syrup in canada

2018-07-17 02:29:49 UTC

lol.

I wouldn't necessarily sit though. We seem to be in an era of separatist movements. Scotland, Britain, Catalan. This could be the point when something like that happens.

2018-07-17 02:30:20 UTC

Heck, #calexit was trending for a bit. And state of Jefferson is effectively on the ballot.

2018-07-17 02:30:30 UTC

And California isn't really that distinct.

2018-07-17 02:31:00 UTC

LOL if that happens im fucked lol i live in a town that was a hub for british loyalists looking to escape the US so there actually is a large english heritage here

2018-07-17 02:31:18 UTC

we are the only part of my town that has its municipal news in both english and french

2018-07-17 02:31:32 UTC

the english are just beta americans...
