That's the thing, it's culturally enforced by other members of the community

2018-07-21 00:42:15 UTC

It's why women from theocracies like iran are ripping off their burkhas

2018-07-21 00:42:19 UTC

this is a circular argument if you can't agree on the venue, is this denmark, the US, or the middle east?

2018-07-21 00:42:24 UTC

Denmark

2018-07-21 00:42:29 UTC

You're acting as though it's the same in every case. In some cases you get killed, and in others you're just shamed.

2018-07-21 00:42:34 UTC

Middle East it's legally enforced

2018-07-21 00:42:51 UTC

Only for muslim women though

2018-07-21 00:42:53 UTC

Of course it’s not the same.

2018-07-21 00:43:00 UTC

It's not common for shit like that to happen in the US, but they're still pressured to wear hijab here. That's not the same as someone being killed.

2018-07-21 00:43:05 UTC

Others are just given dirty looks by the police men

2018-07-21 00:43:24 UTC

honor killings happen in the US

2018-07-21 00:43:34 UTC

Trying to say that 'they're both being pressured though' is silly.

2018-07-21 00:43:35 UTC

They happen everywhere what's your point

2018-07-21 00:43:47 UTC
2018-07-21 00:43:57 UTC

I said it's not *common* in the US.

2018-07-21 00:44:11 UTC

more common than i care for

2018-07-21 00:44:12 UTC

My point is that your claim that 'they're both being pressured, so it's just as bad' is absurd

2018-07-21 00:44:22 UTC

Me?

2018-07-21 00:44:22 UTC

then again, 1 honor killing is more common than i care for

It's why I said if you want to make sure the women are choosing to wear them, you need to bam muslims

2018-07-21 00:46:03 UTC

Banning the hijab makes more sense

2018-07-21 00:47:26 UTC

It's also oppressive to those who are actually making the choice entirely on their own.

2018-07-21 00:47:34 UTC

How do you know.

2018-07-21 00:48:16 UTC

What do you even mean how do I know? I know because you're telling someone they're not allowed to make their own choices.

2018-07-21 00:48:21 UTC

I challenge you, go into a muslim community, find me one person who says she's being pressured into it.

2018-07-21 00:48:46 UTC

That has nothing to do with the simple fact that you're trying to control people.

2018-07-21 00:49:02 UTC

I don't care if it's being oppressive to a negligible minority. It's being used for far worse purposes

2018-07-21 00:49:34 UTC

And, you can wear a chador

2018-07-21 00:49:50 UTC

I don't like that aspect of the culture any more than you do, but I'm not willing to give up my own, and everyone else's freedom for promises that people will be treated nicer.

2018-07-21 00:50:15 UTC

You were saying hijab.

2018-07-21 00:50:21 UTC

Chador is hijab.

2018-07-21 01:22:25 UTC

In Germany a ban on masks also applies to facial curtains

2018-07-21 01:22:45 UTC

You have to have an ID-able face in public

2018-07-21 01:30:31 UTC

@Deleted User but but wearing a hijab is a choice REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEe

2018-07-21 01:33:59 UTC

Wear it at home

2018-07-21 01:34:23 UTC

Covering hair in public is fine though

2018-07-21 01:40:03 UTC

@Schedrevka Chador isn't hijab you cuck

2018-07-21 01:40:17 UTC

It covers your head, leaves your face

2018-07-21 01:41:32 UTC

Hijab is a wide category. It doesn't only refer to veils that cover the face. At least not in the western world.
