But that's just enforcement mechanisms.

2018-08-22 01:44:48 UTC

It is basically a agreement between social media and us, this is the list of our rights and thus the social media can't infringe upon these rights unless they want to be held accountable by people through the rule of law.

2018-08-22 01:45:24 UTC

But what is the law but a community contract? And what is a contract than an agreement?

2018-08-22 01:45:49 UTC

Regulation is when the government is actively involved with the social media companies and keeps a thumb on their pulse. Absolute power corrupts absolute.

2018-08-22 01:45:51 UTC

Technically, threre is an agreement. It's the Terms of Service and you agree to it by using the site.

2018-08-22 01:45:54 UTC

Government is good at destroying.

2018-08-22 01:46:26 UTC

Sure. I can agree. But if you are going to create a bill of rights you must enforce it somehow.

2018-08-22 01:46:35 UTC

Or people will renege.

2018-08-22 01:46:49 UTC

There is unspoken norms. But I think it can be said alot of them are already being violated.

2018-08-22 01:47:08 UTC

Basically they can be held accountable our nation's laws if they infringe upon that nation's citizen.

2018-08-22 01:47:37 UTC

The law that they can be held accountable depends on the person and what nation they are from.

2018-08-22 01:47:45 UTC

...That's what I'm saying and advocating.

2018-08-22 01:47:53 UTC

But you have to have an enforcement mechanism.

2018-08-22 01:48:03 UTC

Either an agency enforcing the law or an opening for Tort.

2018-08-22 01:48:24 UTC

That is where we got to hash out the details of the bill of rights.

2018-08-22 01:48:35 UTC

The constitution of United States wasn't made in a single day.

2018-08-22 01:48:54 UTC

It was made day and night, hidden from the British through secret before they introduced it.

2018-08-22 01:48:55 UTC

It was drafted kinda quickly...

2018-08-22 01:49:20 UTC

I don't get where people get that idea, it was thought upon, debated upon, talked about, and hashed out by our founding fathers.

2018-08-22 01:49:22 UTC

And you're thinking of the DOI. Not the Constitution.

2018-08-22 01:49:23 UTC

It wasn't made in a single night.

2018-08-22 01:49:37 UTC

The Bill of Rights was also debated upon.

2018-08-22 01:49:42 UTC

I was using constitution as a example.

2018-08-22 01:50:09 UTC

It will take time for us users of the internet to come up with a bill of rights.

2018-08-22 01:50:22 UTC

And a agreement between the social media company and us.

2018-08-22 01:50:22 UTC

You might not have that much time though.

2018-08-22 01:50:32 UTC

And more importantly, what exactly are you proposing?

2018-08-22 01:50:44 UTC

Yeah I'm not for the regulation of private companies. I think a better solution is to build up less shitty sites. And any agreement the social media company can make they can break, so how do you enforce it?

2018-08-22 01:50:50 UTC

I don't want to give the power of controlling our global communication to the government.

2018-08-22 01:50:52 UTC

A nebulous "bill of rights to be decided at a later date" is worthless.

2018-08-22 01:51:09 UTC

I'd say it's already too late. Europe is already doing so.

2018-08-22 01:51:25 UTC

And the far east moreso.

2018-08-22 01:51:31 UTC

Yeah but the EU will collapse and then who the fuck will care?

2018-08-22 01:51:43 UTC

Chinese internet is an echo chamber in an dog itself

2018-08-22 01:51:43 UTC

Individual European countries,.

2018-08-22 01:51:52 UTC

France is already pressuring to ban "fake news"

2018-08-22 01:51:57 UTC

Sorry for barging into this conversation, I am very opinionated and I think highly of my nation's founding father's vision.

2018-08-22 01:52:11 UTC

Britian just set up a version of the Great Firewall to censor child porn

2018-08-22 01:52:20 UTC

I don't see how controlling social media will stop their shit policies

2018-08-22 01:52:43 UTC

@Dusty Morgan I'm guessing you're American. I agree entirely. The Founding Fathers and the Enlightenment were a high point of human civilization.

My favorite subject is history, I take lessons from the past.
