"provide better access to educational material" - maybe?

2018-08-22 02:59:48 UTC

@Blackhawk342 I'd actually emphasize the Equal opportunity angle. It drives a nice wedge and most people (minorities included) really want "equal opportunity" It's only really academics and activists at this point who favor "equity"

2018-08-22 02:59:54 UTC

Almost everybody agrees that textbooks are way too expensive because the publishers have monopolies on them

2018-08-22 02:59:55 UTC

But there is a lot of bias being introduced in school books now.

2018-08-22 03:00:05 UTC

It's a bunch of philosophizing. But it plays well and establishes a point.

2018-08-22 03:00:25 UTC

its all about playing the game

2018-08-22 03:00:31 UTC

@Dusty Morgan You have no idea. There are schools Using A People's History of the United States as an unbiased text.

2018-08-22 03:00:48 UTC

I think the reason text boxes are expensive is because where they are made at.

2018-08-22 03:00:55 UTC

If you can introduce legislation that forces competition in the textbook market, that forces prices down and will potentially also create less biased textbooks at the same time

2018-08-22 03:00:56 UTC

Not to mention all the museums reworking themselves for the agenda.

2018-08-22 03:01:03 UTC

you gotta know how to express things in ways that appeal to your base but arent obvious to the extremes i guess

2018-08-22 03:01:20 UTC

@Revan Not really. The issue is that writing textbooks is actually pretty hard and unpopular.

2018-08-22 03:01:28 UTC

Oh that is a great idea Revan, free market tends to drive prices down... but there is the problem with equality of the books.

2018-08-22 03:01:31 UTC

Textbooks are essentially a monoply

2018-08-22 03:01:39 UTC

They might cut corners to save money aka miss important lessons.

2018-08-22 03:01:39 UTC

^

2018-08-22 03:01:48 UTC

That ^ was for Lagomaster24.

2018-08-22 03:01:55 UTC

lol

2018-08-22 03:01:57 UTC

figured

2018-08-22 03:01:58 UTC

but yea

2018-08-22 03:02:03 UTC

By the way, I am not running for anything.

2018-08-22 03:02:13 UTC

You were asking for a bit of a review.

2018-08-22 03:02:14 UTC

But that is how I think, the general idea on how to make my state better.

2018-08-22 03:02:16 UTC

the textbook industry needs to anti-trust lawed

2018-08-22 03:02:27 UTC

I think so too Lagomaster.

2018-08-22 03:02:28 UTC

One thing you could look into is where the textbooks and tests are being sourced.

2018-08-22 03:02:34 UTC

There's more than just one industry that needs to be hit with anti-trust laws

2018-08-22 03:02:35 UTC

See now that is an issue you can definitely go in on

2018-08-22 03:02:36 UTC

There's really 2 education systems right now.

2018-08-22 03:02:38 UTC

ISPs, for example

2018-08-22 03:02:39 UTC

California and TX.

2018-08-22 03:02:42 UTC

People will whole heartedly support it

2018-08-22 03:02:44 UTC

Because these are the biggest states.

2018-08-22 03:02:46 UTC

Also SOLs gotta go

2018-08-22 03:02:49 UTC

imo

2018-08-22 03:03:11 UTC

Obviously, you'd want TX. CA is nothing but Social Justice. TX is balanced.

2018-08-22 03:03:16 UTC

I'm mixed myself... Native American and Caucasion... could never spell that right.

2018-08-22 03:03:20 UTC

If you want to seggust equality of opportunity go for it

2018-08-22 03:03:31 UTC

Be prepared to deal with insane people with large followings though

2018-08-22 03:03:33 UTC

Mark, all you need is an 'a' where you have the 'o' and it's right

2018-08-22 03:03:40 UTC

its all about how you present it
