My unit does field ops every three months, and I honestly live for it. I fucking hate garrison.

Combat camera is a pretty sick job is you get stationed in a good place

One of my best friends is stationed in 29 Palms and she goes out to take photos of MARSOC and Green Berets training in the California mountains

Horse riding included

29 is honestly not so bad

While I was stationed there I was camping in Joshua Tree almost every weekend

Would drive out into the Mojave and drop off the grid whenever I could to reset myself for the next work week

Can't do that in Okitraz

Japanistan was cool at first but I've seen just about everything interesting in SEA

MWT in Bridgeport was so awesome

Bad news lads

The green weenie has royally fucked me for the rest of my life

Over the past three years the muscles in my legs have been ripping off shards of my bones

And as my bones healed, the shards have gotten wedged between my muscles and my bones, meaning whenever I overuse them doing things like running or hiking, the shards rip up my muscles

I had an ultrasound taken of my legs, and the fibers connecting my muscles to my tibia are just mangled messes of scar tissue

I may very well be in a wheelchair by the time I'm 50

I've been in and out of therapy and medical since the problem started, but I always get that Marine Corps special

Ibuprofen and new socks.

Occasionally they'll tell me 'to stretch your legs and roll them'

They never bothered to look into it past that until now

The only thing that would possibly help is extensive surgery

But that would take me out of duty permanently

And the military isn't willing to do that kind of procedure

I'm only angry that I spent these years in the military getting broken doing nothing but fixing fucking radios

I've done absolutely nothing worth writing home about

I've been to a bunch of different countries on field ops but for what? To meet some officer's training requirements?

None of this shit is what I wanted.

I grew up with cousins that went to Iraq and Afghanistan all through the early 2000s and they'd come back and tell me all the awesome shit they did.

Soon as I joined, boom. Peacetime Corps. Back on its old bullshit.
