I put some hydrogen peroxide on it. And scrubbed it out as best I could on my own. I'm going to head down to the firehall and see what my buddy thinks.

He said the same thing @Louis Loire - NY

@Louis Loire - NY should I use these? It's the only thing I have other than hydrogen peroxide and some antiseptic gel.

You know what I'm an idiot. I'm a disabled vet I'm just going to go to the VA clinic tomorrow.

@ThisIsChris we're still talking but she's back in Australia for now. Like I said I'm not actually looking for dates. I'm just doing it for the lols

Yeah my brain took a second to catch up there and I've never really been a blood person so I forgot about the VA. You'd probably have to take my arm completely off to get me into urgent care though.

No thanks. I dumped it doing about 2mph. The handle bars came loose on me. I swear they were tight when I started. Luckily the bike fell on me and I didn't even scratch the paint I got a little bit of a scratch though. Check out the medical channel.

Yeah I'm fine honestly I was more worried about the bike. My boss let me ride it, since I cleaned it all up for him but it's his dad's so it has sentimental value.

Eh.. I've had worse. Not cuts, but I've broken 7 bones (5 at once) and have been burned pretty badly once. I'll be fine.

@The Huwhyte Ulf - VA Does IE accept cripples? What about amputees? If I loose the arm I'll get it replaced with a cool hook or maybe some sort of projectile launcher.

No stitches just got it cleaned, steri striped, and bandaged. They said follow up in a couple days if it starts to fester but otherwise I'll be fine.

Lol yeah I'm undoxable I work for my cousin so good luck antifa moles.

It still hurts pretty bad I can still bend my elbow but any time I twist something like a door knob it pulls on it and hurts like hell. I'm just hoping it's healthy enough for the warrior dash on the 14th.

@Freiheit - CA nope I just changed the bandages this morning it's actually healing up pretty quickly.

Getting ready for the 4th of July dinner.

Probably would be pretty easy to make a loop and just sew a straight line, put an empty PVC pipe along the bottom it wouldn't have to be that heavy.

I just got done pulling the plates out of a 24 row corn planter only to have the 36 row planter pull into the shop.

Exon and Shell have lots of government contracts. If they end up with a working fusion reactor that thing is going to get scooped up by the military faster than you can say Black Budget. Also even if they get one running there will still be tons of money in the spare parts market. I worked on nuclear fission reactors for the Navy and trust me spare parts aren't cheap. We're talking $60,000 for circuit cards developed in the early nineties type expensive.

It's a good thing I'm not afraid of heights.

Harvest has begun

It's good. I've got full use of it as long as I don't bump into anything.

Combining with the wind. It gets a little dusty

Getting ready to move on to the next field driving down the highway with this header should be fun.

Another great sunset.

I went and put the header down on the bumblebee. It was triggering my autism worse than the John Deeres being out of order.

#4 is almost ready to go.

That's the type of disruptive technology that sparks wars. Trucking employs 3.5 million men.

@Grossly Incandescent it's pretty much exactly like that.

The problem isn't progress it's too rapid progress. We fought some pretty massive wars around the time of industrialization which resulted in a substantial reduction in the labor pool. I'm not necessarily saying that one thing lead to the other but when there is a sudden surge of unemployed men conflict usually follows shortly after.

@RevStench I think you're under estimating tornadoes. Even if it doesn't take your walls down it will still take your roof and do some serious damage. https://youtu.be/-ACSZeEojLI

The internet created jobs that never existed before and the damage to people like postal workers was substantially limited by the government. Automated trucks represent a more serious threat to working class men in particular. Tech can cause significant disruption. Just look at the uber riots in France. They were more pissed off at some taxi drivers losing their jobs then they were about their women being raped by Africans

Speaking of out dated farm equipment. The automation of farming created a gigantic permanent underclass in the United States.

Ok so what happens to the IQ 90 white truck driver?

Look we've all read Bastiat. I'm not saying we should halt technological progress I'm just saying that it's likely to cause conflict.

I should probably mention I have skin in the game. I just learned how to drive truck a couple of months ago.

It's dry there that's why that grain cart has such big tires though. That's what goes out in the field with the combines so we can dump on the move.

Pretty much what ever is cheapest or comes with the equipment.

The tractor I'm in right now has Michelin.

@Tanner - SC I get what you're saying and to be honest I'm not that worried about being displaced. I used to operate nuclear reactors and have an IQ in the 130 range. I farm because I love it. Not everyone is so lucky though.

Also I do only make $13 an hour farming. If I didn't have secondary sources of income farming would represent a pretty substantial reduction in my standard of living.

I haven't been around long enough yet but I'd say it probably isn't that noticeable. According to my boss some different brands are literally produced in the same factory and just get a different name stamped on the side. They are internally identical.

Double jump start. Don't try this at home.

So we had a hydraulic rupture on the mower tractor.

Luckily we have bigger tractors.

We probably didn't need to go that big it's just the one we had in the yard. That's why we needed the jump start.

The trials of being a farmer. When your stuff is broken you need to fix your other equipment to get it going again.

We run in pretty soft soil. Our tires can last quite a long time. Antlers do the most damage to them.

Highways are also hard on our tires.

We probably put more wear on the tires moving from one field to another than we do actually working the field.

@JesseJames can you post that diagram? I'd like to see it.

Too bad most our corn got hailed out. This is one of the survivors. I'm 5'11" for reference

@Deleted User make sure you post some of the warrior dash photos in here.

I used to build these now I tear them out. Building them was easier.

Here's the new one installed. It's a different model than the kind we pulled out.

I have 42 matches 26 of them have almost that exact same profile.

Damn Rural South Dakota is doing me wrong. I thought 42 was pretty good.

To be fair though the biggest town within 100 miles of me has a population of around 14,000.

Wind farming!

Good night IE. I'm getting your wheaties ready for breakfast tomorrow.

It's getting pretty dark out here. Thank God for auto steer.

Pros and cons of being a farmer.

Con: working a 15 hour day.

Pro: Free beer!

Alright now to get into the informative portion of this content.

This screen is probably the most important in the combine harvester.

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/453241577062662146/468995890254839839/20180717_223415.jpg

The top two indicators are what is going on with your crop. The left is moisture percentage and the right is bushels per acre. Just below that is your crop. In this case it is a lie (we're actually harvesting winter wheat) but it's close enough.

In this type of combine the majority of the threshing is done by a device called a bullet rotor. The top left indication below the crop type is the speed of your rotor. The number below that is the clearance between your rotor and concave. In this case it's 0 because we want it as close as it gets.

Next to your rotor speed is the cleaning fan speed. The cleaning fan blows light weight unwanted chaff out of the mechanism.

The last two indicators on the right are the top and bottom sieves. They are what sort the grain from the remaining chaff.

The bottom block is the message center. In this case it's telling me my grain tank is 3/4 full. Next to that is the record button for keeping records of what we're harvesting.

You control all of those settings with this panel.

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/453241577062662146/469000020830453760/20180717_223410.jpg

Sorry for the crappy photo. I was driving and it's bouncy.

I'm pretty tired so I'll just close this post by saying you adjust all those settings based on crop density and moisture and by visually inspecting your grain tank and by getting out and counting the amount of grain you bypass per square foot. It sounds more complicated than it actually is. You can learn to do all of this in a day.

Mine makes a mighty fine drying rack. I didn't do this btw it was like that when I walked in the shop.

Does anyone have any good recommendations for a quiet high capacity sump pump? I want to upgrade before I sink a bunch of money into finishing my basement.

My current pump is a 1/2hp and it barely keeps up on rainy days. I also already have a water powered emergency backup but I'd rather not have that run unless it has to.

Also it definitely occurs to me that this probably isn't the right channel to ask this question in but we don't have a plumbing channel.

I'm looking for sump pump suggestions? Does anyone have any recommendations?

@Px4 it's for a standard household sump that gets a pretty significant amount of rain water a few times per year. My basement is about 1200 square feet. I also hope to finish my basement and put a couple of bedrooms down there so I need something that isn't terribly loud. 120v.

I definitely need an automatic pump it's been raining for the last few days ago my pump is struggling to keep up. I think it's a 1/2 horse but I'm on the lower side of town so I tend to get a lot of water all at once on rainy days. It pumps about 12 ft vertically and then runs down about 25 feet of hose to the back of my yard.

I actually don't live at my house much during the summer but my brother says it's been running pretty much constantly for the last couple of days. What I really need is flow rate not pump head since it's a relatively short distance it needs to pump.
