Yee
Is this where we post feet
Can we rename it victory gardens and green thumbs?
They making a comeback
May as well bring the name back as well
dope
@Ramrod1992 hows that
Economic downturn has farm supplies business booming because grocery stores threatening to close around the country, everyone wants a garden
I have a green thumb but hate gardening. Who woulda thunk
Aww yis
Remember boys compost is great, paper products and food scraps with water and weekly flipping
Put your compost pile uphill of your garden as the water run off is good for the garden but bad for the waterways
Leaves, yard clippings, small branches (smaller then your thumb) and animal poo (rabbit, birb, dog, cat (not the litter just the poop) horse, chicken) makes great compost. My work has HUGE compost runs and my boss is crazy about it so any questions feel free to ask
Have no clue why its upside down lol
ah an Australian garden
oh you do like in ground planter boxes
One side is in ground, the other is slightly above
Gonna try a trickle down system of watering the high end first and let the drainage water the low. Got a plan to get a big 55gal blue barrel for rain water for the garden
Gonna hook the barrel to the gutter and spigot the bottom. Run a hose across the yard and turn on for a couple minutes every morning
And if i need to I can use the water for home
Gotta wait a couple days before I can acquire wood ash. Used to be filled with giant fuckin' weeds. Threw in some half degregated maple leaf litter, then expanded the length another 2'. Final frost date is the 20th so I got a minute to work the soil every day.
Not gonna lie boys. Im depressed about my garden getting flooded
Can't even work on it because its still too muddy
It'll get there boss just do what ya can ๐
Yea add sand and try to salvage what I can. Rain coming next week so hopefully after that I can get in the garden and get it sorted out
You got this king
Yeah. Its looking good so far on the sprouting side
@Ramrod1992 nice spread
Thanks. Got pintos started too
18 planted in my egg carton planters. Beans for winter boys
Mantis ootheca by my raspberries
I need berry bushes
These were here when I got here and I didn't even notice. They're mine af now so gotta work on staking and protecting them
Hell yeah
I got big bushes in the back, not sure if they are berries that aint mature or a regular thorn bush
I was stoked to see them. My husband was like "they have been here for a while and I was thinking about cutting them down". I love him but I almost stabbed him.
Lol oof
He's been real cool about moving my plants around the workout room so I guess all it took was gentle education in the form of "but I wanna make jelly"
Homemade jelly is motivation enough
Hells yeah
Im out here restarting my garden sprouts. Kids killed alot of them
Well that sucks on toast.
So im dumping soil and putting them in bags to hang in the window
But i got beans for days
And okra
So I aint starvin
Fuck yeah I got okra seeds sent to me. Probably start some here in a couple of weeks so it can get good and toasty out.
My buddy in TN has enough okra seeds to last several lifetimes, so if anyone wants any, I can reach out to see if he'd be interested in selling or donating some
They are literally the easiest thing to grow. Start them and put them out after frost date and watch them go
Yeah frost date here is the 20th
I've used the shit out of them learning Cajun cooking but have never grown them personally
Got a big storm coming from the north and its gonna get frosty next week
Laaaaaaaaaame
Lol its cool
Hail
Wind
Rain
Cold temps
Perfect
Ngl the hail last night made the soil easy to work with today. I was half expecting the onion leaves in the other plot to be shredded but them lil shits are tough
It's a weed
Woo!
๐
I found this in my back yard and brought it inside, anyone know what it is?
Baby bean perhaps?
Lol
Neighbors apple tree. Needs clipped
Its past pruning seasonshouldve done it a month ago
Cut all the suckers (anything pointing upwards) cut off anything too tall for you to reach because thats waste of nutrents and any branches that are too long just above a bud. Its a kinda as you feel thing just very important is apart from suckers and the top anything that looks crowded you cut above the bud
Once it starts fruiting and they are still hard yoy should go through and thin it out. if you have anything thats closer then a clenched fist away then purge the smaller ones and insure all young fruits are farther then a fist apart. Harvesting should take a while, if they start dropping its about time, leave some you think need more growth and take any bad ones and add to compost
Yeah. Well it aint mine but im gonna ask if they will let me prune it still
2 sacks of sand and a deep tilling got me back to where i need to be
Nice
I figure I can plant next Friday and be out of the frost danger
Gotta start more seeds
Careful some states are denying people from buying seeds because gardening is 'non-essential'
Yeah I got plenty but my state is still selling non essential items
Anyone know what it is
I just had it gifted to me like that
I think it's an oak
Cool
May be a pecan tree but im no tree expert
Plant it with pleanty of space and a deer net and find out in 3-4 years
Thanks
Fuxk I didnt even know this channel existed!
Perfect.
@Ramrod1992 hey btw if you till it up, hay works as well as sand for that clay
Like straw and hay
I know how to make strong as fuck barriers, it uses straw and tall grass in place of rebar, it works
@ะฝะฐัะธะปัััะฒะตะฝะฝะพะต ัะฑะธะนััะฒะพ let's see it.
@Deadbeat Radio huh?
@Deadbeat Radio also, the cememt uses some kinda mud that you gotta mix yourself using kaliche and clay found in the desert
Shale would also work in the mixture
OOOOOOOR, you can just buy bulk cememt, which is super cheap usually
@thedarkness05 lol. If my tomatoes dont I fucking will
All the plants I had
6 tomato and about 11 beans died
Only one bean plant is alive and if nothing else is out by now they got to be dead
Dang bro rip
What happened?
No clue
The soil was hand mixed with compost
Each tomato had its own pot and the beans were in a big container with at least 6 inches between
They got watered daily in the morning just a little bit
There was a week of heavy rain but that's it
They had plenty of drainage so im not sure why they have sprouted
1st diy chicken coop complete
These are going to be temporary till I build a actual better one
Not gonna lie
Looks good
@jaguarknight thanks man. Also how did your plants die? Slowly wilting, brown leaves? Spots?
Never sprouted
Sometimes you gotta sprout in bags or cups
Maybe
But isn't it too late now
It's mid April so it's past planting season
Not too late at alp
Get your basic seeds together asap and ready to sprout. Beans sprout great in a cup with a wet napkin in there
Tomatoes work well in the bag with a wet napkin
Sprouting has been a challenge for me but im gonna start my next round of sprouts soon
And we just experienced a late frost. Im glad i didnt plant
We didn't have the frost
We got the rains
Got it in the ground. Kids destroyed like 40% of my sprouts
So i did the best I could. Time to start more
@Ramrod1992 still looks good man. Also depending on location it aknt too late.
I'm still tryna plant until the last minute as much food as possible
Salvagable
Had a late frost this year and yesterday was it
God damn. Well now is the time.
Moving forward were looking at low 40s but no 30s for the forseeable future
@jaguarknight also where you live roughly?
I always forget up there is like 20 degrees cooler
South Texas on the border
Hes warm like you
Yeah my shit freezing up here. I need cucumbers and cabbage next. Maybe melons
@jaguarknight still time for tomatoes, peppers etc. A little tip, if their still selling shit a home depot or whatever with no discount, you can still grow it. Also, just because you missed out on some stuff this time doesnt mean you cant get it ready for next year. Especially supplies and set ups.
@Ramrod1992 if you like lettuce and what not. Kale, and butter crunch lettuce does great.
Even in cooler climates.
Also NAPA cabbage does great there, its korean, you can make your own kimchi
Whatever yall throw out, put it in the compost pile for next year
Birb cage done.
My chickens happy as can be. More on the way
