Should I get a Xiaom mi Pad 4?

2019-09-08 05:51:49 UTC

OR are there other better alternatives for tablets?

2019-09-08 06:05:32 UTC

honestly the amazon devices are usually pretty hard to beat for price

2019-09-08 06:07:31 UTC

The Fire HD 10? @Cad

2019-09-08 06:08:09 UTC

amazon subsidizes the price on the assumption you'll use the tablet to buy stuff from amazon, subscribe to prime and all that, so it's hard price to beat

2019-09-08 06:08:26 UTC

Oh, I don't have access to amazon. So I'm stuck with chinkshit

2019-09-08 07:26:15 UTC

Whats the state of finding OEM parts for Xiaome phones like? I gotta replace my camera module on my A2

2019-09-08 08:48:27 UTC

@timsandtoms they can be found on aliexpress

2019-09-08 08:48:42 UTC

It'll say if it's the original part or a copy part

2019-09-08 09:27:30 UTC

any cheap good knives?

2019-09-08 09:27:43 UTC

Kiwi

2019-09-08 09:59:48 UTC

@Tervy what

2019-09-08 10:07:17 UTC

cheap good knives : kiwi kitchen knives

2019-09-08 10:07:18 UTC

:P

2019-09-08 11:03:14 UTC

@Chaim Goldstein i got the mi pad 4

2019-09-08 11:03:23 UTC

honestly the best android tablet

2019-09-08 11:03:33 UTC

it actually has a great build quality too

2019-09-08 11:03:38 UTC

most android tablets are plastic shit

2019-09-08 11:03:47 UTC

it's a dead market anyways

2019-09-08 11:03:56 UTC

nobody uses tablet anymore except ipad

2019-09-08 11:04:11 UTC

and google hasnt updated their tablet OS in ages

2019-09-08 11:04:16 UTC

but if you got a niche use for it

2019-09-08 11:04:18 UTC

why not

2019-09-08 11:29:49 UTC

Is it MIUI or vanilla?

2019-09-08 11:39:28 UTC

Mi Pad 4 is great, I agree

2019-09-08 11:39:30 UTC

love mine

2019-09-08 11:41:21 UTC

@timsandtoms MIUI by default, but I'd suggest unlocking BL and ROMing that fucker up ASAP.

There is no official global version so you buy china ROM, wait two weeks, unlock the bootloader and install either MIUI.eu or HavocOS (vanilla like but with more customization)

2019-09-08 11:41:46 UTC

all the other roms have rather significant issues

2019-09-08 11:43:24 UTC

although Pixel Experience has been picked up by a few guys again, so hopefully they'll fix the standing issues because that's my favorite ROM out there for anything

2019-09-08 11:45:25 UTC

@Jignx apply for bootloader unlock today

2019-09-08 11:47:58 UTC

oooooh nice

2019-09-08 11:48:33 UTC

apparently the guys who picked up Pixel Experience for Mi Pad 4 are gonna try to make it "official" (though that doesn't mean a lot, just that the downloads etc will be from official PE website)

2019-09-08 11:52:52 UTC

ok?

2019-09-08 11:52:59 UTC

i applied for it

2019-09-08 11:53:08 UTC

but I dont use it enough to want to change the rom tbh

2019-09-08 12:00:15 UTC

well i mean

2019-09-08 12:00:22 UTC

if you want to use google apps on the tablet

2019-09-08 12:00:35 UTC

you'd be better off with something that has them included

2019-09-08 12:01:01 UTC

the google play installer for china rom from my experience is extremely half assed and half of google apps won't work

2019-09-08 17:41:15 UTC

weird

2019-09-08 17:41:23 UTC

I tried buying something and it gave me an error

2019-09-08 17:41:30 UTC

and my bank says there's no issues either

I'm looking for some advice please. I lost my sunglasses this evening whilst walking the dog. They were quite nice, got them in some kickstarter years ago for around ยฃ50. I want to replace them for as little cost as possible. I'm looking for something akin to the RayBan Clubmaster.

2019-09-08 17:55:42 UTC

im no sunglasses expert but quick search from other channels request history got me "Nautica N3610SP" and "MEXX 6311"

2019-09-08 17:56:21 UTC

and probly jsut searching Ali for said model name gets you many hits

2019-09-08 17:56:23 UTC

Thank you @Tervy

2019-09-08 17:58:28 UTC

@rodders ZeroUV might have some copies (no experience on the site but same channel had that linked)

2019-09-08 18:00:10 UTC

Did they recommend that site? I stumbled across it a few minutes ago but cannot retrace the link that got me there.

2019-09-08 18:01:24 UTC

dunno really if it was recommendation or more like "check here"

2019-09-08 18:02:52 UTC

I've found it, twas Reddit but the chap said they're good for the cost. Gonna give it a shot.

2019-09-08 18:04:09 UTC

I'm grateful for the hasty response @Tervy , you're a gent.

2019-09-08 18:04:32 UTC

Assuming I haven't broken the law there (misgender).

2019-09-08 18:05:09 UTC

NP (and who gives F* about genders that shit does not belong to internet)

2019-09-08 18:06:07 UTC

It was a half-assed attempt at humour dawg

2019-09-08 18:07:42 UTC

i know :P

2019-09-08 18:11:36 UTC

If you haven't, I recommend the new Chapelle show. It's a giggle...

2019-09-08 18:12:01 UTC

The Netflix thing causing a bit of a stir, there's a good few gaffs.

2019-09-08 20:27:37 UTC

hmm how is this backpack

2019-09-08 20:33:24 UTC

expensive

2019-09-08 20:34:15 UTC

ok\

2019-09-08 20:53:31 UTC

know any good large capacity bags which can hold like 50kgs

2019-09-08 20:53:35 UTC

?

2019-09-08 21:16:52 UTC

same

2019-09-08 21:17:03 UTC

I need one that can hold a 17" laptop

2019-09-08 21:17:05 UTC

that's like 50 kg

2019-09-08 21:36:25 UTC

Does like nice though

2019-09-08 22:44:07 UTC

tigernu or mark ryden

2019-09-08 22:44:08 UTC

hmm

2019-09-08 23:03:49 UTC

I can vouch for Tigernu being of good quality

2019-09-08 23:03:53 UTC
2019-09-08 23:04:24 UTC

mark ryden has a better design

2019-09-08 23:06:24 UTC

hmm which one do I pick

2019-09-08 23:09:10 UTC

I like the second one

2019-09-08 23:09:17 UTC

That expandability looks comfy

2019-09-08 23:11:44 UTC

yeah but only the 19 inch one expands

2019-09-08 23:13:19 UTC

Don't tell me you WANT to be a Baglet

2019-09-09 05:44:52 UTC

I got this a few weeks ago

2019-09-09 05:45:30 UTC

It looks big but doesn't have a lot of space

2019-09-09 06:06:28 UTC

@androidcrawler bags are measured in liters for reason... 50kg is alooot of weight what you dont want to haul around

2019-09-09 06:07:39 UTC

It would require high denier condura, reinforced stitches darn well planned handle design just to make such thing

2019-09-09 06:08:07 UTC

(If you fill that 50kg with sand for example)

2019-09-09 06:08:59 UTC

There exists power/endurance lifting bags for those weights buy prepare to pay out of your ass

2019-09-09 06:10:34 UTC

You are pretty much buying punching bag turned to bag

2019-09-09 06:11:07 UTC

The thickness of the stitching would be insane

2019-09-09 06:11:11 UTC

Its huge, akward and ugly but it does the job

2019-09-09 06:11:16 UTC

And not aesthetic at all

2019-09-09 06:12:40 UTC

And that just for 50kg static weight, dynamic impulses from running/walking with it give quite bit extra stress the stitching needs to hold

2019-09-09 06:15:06 UTC

Buut yeah. 50kg unless you are carrying tons of metal objects or lead... Why on earth would you need such loads

2019-09-09 06:17:51 UTC

Yikes

2019-09-09 06:18:08 UTC

My backpack is like 36l and I never really need its full load

2019-09-09 06:19:09 UTC

50 kg is like ballistic vest with plates+ whole army getup with 3day bag

2019-09-09 06:19:22 UTC

Stuffed inside single bag

2019-09-09 06:20:28 UTC

That being said stuff like loaderframes what hunters use for deer meat could be option

2019-09-09 06:21:42 UTC

Or ILBE bags

2019-09-09 06:23:32 UTC

Thats about your options

2019-09-09 06:29:19 UTC

@androidcrawler The Marine ILBE packs, 2nd and 3rd Gen. The Kelty Eagle.

2019-09-09 06:30:47 UTC

And mysteryranch stuff too

2019-09-09 06:30:52 UTC

Anyone bought a down sleeping bag from China?

2019-09-09 06:31:06 UTC

But money.money money

2019-09-09 06:32:09 UTC

Anyone own a Naturehike or Ageismax sleeping bag?

2019-09-09 07:14:12 UTC
2019-09-09 07:45:43 UTC

one sec let me show you my current bags thats dying from the weight

2019-09-09 07:47:16 UTC

my current load is 13 kg max but I want something I can really abuse

2019-09-09 07:50:15 UTC

Get a Maxpedition Duffel

2019-09-09 07:50:35 UTC

@Aqualiteking Naturehike is high quality chink but not high quality enough to have warranties

2019-09-09 07:51:02 UTC

I'd rather just get two products from other companies for the same price

2019-09-09 07:51:44 UTC

plus I shove a whole razor 2013 blackwidow keyboard in there too

2019-09-09 07:52:21 UTC

Sleeping bags should be easy to do down to like 20F or maybe -5C. For anything colder I think you should stick with real brand names

2019-09-09 07:52:40 UTC

Any time you rely on chinks for health and safety you're probably making a mistake

2019-09-09 07:52:44 UTC

I was thinking of getting a custom leather bag made

2019-09-09 07:52:49 UTC

Why

2019-09-09 07:53:01 UTC

Just sounds like an easy way to get a shittily made bag

2019-09-09 07:53:03 UTC

cause where I live it would be cheaper than buying a 300 dollar military bag

2019-09-09 07:53:26 UTC

My $300 military bag isn't as good as my $65 civilian bag

2019-09-09 07:53:29 UTC

please remember that I managed to get customer shoes made fro like

2019-09-09 07:53:34 UTC

30 bucks

2019-09-09 07:53:39 UTC

to due currency differences

2019-09-09 07:53:43 UTC

Sleeping bags are no fucking joke dude

2019-09-09 07:53:58 UTC

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/189466684938125312/620527303738261504/IMG_20190302_124606.jpg

2019-09-09 07:53:59 UTC

You will fucking die if you go out in the cold with a shit bag

2019-09-09 07:54:31 UTC

Leather is not a particularly strong insulator and you ain't getting a fur sleeping bag for less than a good synthetic one

2019-09-09 07:54:50 UTC

oh, the purpose is not to sleep inside it

2019-09-09 07:54:55 UTC

just to carry lots of stuff

2019-09-09 07:55:28 UTC

I was talking about sleeping bags bruh

2019-09-09 07:55:36 UTC

Leather bags whatever

2019-09-09 07:56:02 UTC

Won't last long and probably have shit storage capabilities but who cares

2019-09-09 07:56:17 UTC

Chinese leatherwork is cheap as shit

2019-09-09 07:57:39 UTC

But you wanted a large capacity bag @androidcrawler ?

2019-09-09 07:57:44 UTC

For what purpose?

2019-09-09 07:58:17 UTC

If backpacking, leather is a big nono because of shitty weight ratio and poor weight distribution

2019-09-09 07:58:26 UTC

I meant carrying large weights around

2019-09-09 07:58:34 UTC

I know

2019-09-09 07:58:36 UTC

Doing what

2019-09-09 07:58:56 UTC

well since I want a bag to abuse I guess hiking needs would be a good standard

2019-09-09 07:59:07 UTC

No

2019-09-09 07:59:17 UTC

What exactly do you need a 50kg bag for

2019-09-09 07:59:19 UTC

also i was going to get it make from a local leatherworker

2019-09-09 07:59:29 UTC

carrying shit to my workplace

2019-09-09 07:59:48 UTC

but something I could use in general

2019-09-09 07:59:48 UTC

The fuck are you carrying on your back that weighs 50kg

2019-09-09 08:00:01 UTC

as I said before my current max load is around 10-13kg

2019-09-09 08:00:06 UTC

but I want something future proof

2019-09-09 08:00:23 UTC

just in case

2019-09-09 08:00:31 UTC

The only thing that is really gonna hold that kind of weight without fucking up your back or falling apart is a proper military rucksack

2019-09-09 08:00:34 UTC

Not chink

2019-09-09 08:00:39 UTC

The kind you pay up for

2019-09-09 08:00:53 UTC

10-13kg anything can do that

2019-09-09 08:01:03 UTC

this

2019-09-09 08:01:07 UTC

?

2019-09-09 08:02:23 UTC

Weak frame if any

2019-09-09 08:02:43 UTC

If you're going to put anything heavy in there it's going to be worn via the shoulder sling

2019-09-09 08:02:51 UTC

And don't do that it's shitty

2019-09-09 08:05:10 UTC

Look when you go hiking you want to minimize weight

2019-09-09 08:05:24 UTC

But have a pack with high volume to store your shit

2019-09-09 08:05:40 UTC

Good tents and sleeping bags occupy the same space but with less weight

2019-09-09 08:05:48 UTC

Bags are designed with this in mind

2019-09-09 08:06:11 UTC

Weight-bearing packs either have really tough internal frames or external frames

2019-09-09 08:06:35 UTC

I see, so I am looking for a pack with a strong frame first and foremost

2019-09-09 08:06:42 UTC

If you don't actually need to carry 50kg then don't plan on it

2019-09-09 08:07:03 UTC

If you want a super strong pack look into high grade western rucksacks

2019-09-09 08:07:10 UTC

Or old alice packs on ebay

2019-09-09 08:07:52 UTC

You can get giant and reliable us army rucks for like $70 on ebay

2019-09-09 08:08:52 UTC

Or similar designs

2019-09-09 08:09:13 UTC

I'm US Army, I know what we have. Other countries have these or their own variants.

2019-09-09 08:09:22 UTC

thanks for the advice man

2019-09-09 08:09:38 UTC

But like honestly

2019-09-09 08:09:48 UTC

If you walk around with that huge thing without needing to

2019-09-09 08:09:55 UTC

You're gonna look like a tool

2019-09-09 08:10:08 UTC

So just get a normal backpack if all you need to carry is 15kg

2019-09-09 08:10:38 UTC

hmm, you make a good point, I was thinking of getting two then

2019-09-09 08:10:42 UTC

one for 50 kg and one for 20kg

2019-09-09 08:11:13 UTC

I have my ruck, my regular backpack, and a chink hiking pack on the way

2019-09-09 08:11:41 UTC

Ruck easily usable for hiking but expensive if I lose or break it

2019-09-09 08:33:52 UTC

for love of god what ever you do dont get old alice bags

2019-09-09 08:34:01 UTC

they are torture devices straight from hell

2019-09-09 08:34:23 UTC

specialy compared to current generation frames

2019-09-09 08:48:43 UTC

@androidcrawler what are you using your bag for?

2019-09-09 08:48:55 UTC

carrying around loads

2019-09-09 08:57:24 UTC

of what

2019-09-09 08:57:36 UTC

how far

2019-09-09 08:57:50 UTC

how much? (volume)

2019-09-09 08:59:05 UTC

I posted a pic of a bag earlier

2019-09-09 08:59:09 UTC

it gets pretty much full

2019-09-09 08:59:23 UTC

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/189466684938125312/620543770336690177/bag.png

2019-09-09 09:02:38 UTC

So you're taking this to the gym?

2019-09-09 09:02:50 UTC

or is it just a travel bag

2019-09-09 09:03:17 UTC

i mean its near impossible suggest good form back unless we know if its large bag of sand, bulky electronics, soft clothes, 1L pouches of water , your 50kg semen bottle collection etc you are carrying in it

2019-09-09 09:04:34 UTC

bulky electronics

2019-09-09 09:04:36 UTC

lunch bags

2019-09-09 09:04:41 UTC

coffee equipment

2019-09-09 09:04:51 UTC

multi screwdriver kit with tips

2019-09-09 09:04:53 UTC

tissues

2019-09-09 09:04:55 UTC

water bottle

2019-09-09 09:04:58 UTC

3 knives

2019-09-09 09:05:06 UTC

3 tweezers

2019-09-09 09:05:10 UTC

vape kit

2019-09-09 09:05:11 UTC

reported for burglary

2019-09-09 09:05:14 UTC

nail trimmer

2019-09-09 09:05:22 UTC

so burglary/work bag got it

2019-09-09 09:05:39 UTC

not a Bulgar bag

2019-09-09 09:06:04 UTC

how far do you need to carry your stolen items?

2019-09-09 09:06:12 UTC

and a few other items

2019-09-09 09:06:16 UTC

a few hundred meters

2019-09-09 09:06:16 UTC

back and to car or forest trail?

2019-09-09 09:06:32 UTC

just get another duffel bag

2019-09-09 09:07:07 UTC

but mine broke

2019-09-09 09:07:11 UTC

yeah something with 1000 preferably 1200+ Denier fabrics(polyester most likely)

2019-09-09 09:07:13 UTC

I think they are not durable enough

2019-09-09 09:07:15 UTC

oh

2019-09-09 09:08:18 UTC

I used it to carry 30+ kg for a few days

2019-09-09 09:24:55 UTC

Got an aluminium frame, and a solid waist buckle

2019-09-09 09:25:11 UTC

+ 2 removable side pockets in case you don't need those at the moment

2019-09-09 09:27:01 UTC

Depending on the density you could probably shove 50+ kg inside I guess (I reached 30 kg by only using the main central part)

2019-09-09 10:51:08 UTC

2019-09-09 10:51:22 UTC

@Dai are you looking for something specific? size, switch, etc

2019-09-09 11:29:21 UTC

you can look through here but it needs some updating

2019-09-09 11:38:45 UTC

@Dai water doesn't kill 9/10 electronics, unless you do dumb things like leave them on for long
