Yeah, but it really depends on what you use your phone for. If you use it for basic stuff like social media, taking pictures, watching videos. The Mi A2 should do you fine.
The Pocophone obviously would be more future proof though and hopefully has better update or community support.
Google for what I know is mostly in charge for the Mi A2โs software through the Android One program but we know nothing about any of them getting the android 9.0 update.

I will admit that a trackpoint will never be as accurate as a mouse
But it's meant to be more of a supplement to a keyboard-centric navigation
If done right, it runs pretty well since you never take your hands off the keyboard.
