Hate bus might be too expensive though. I was looking at a 15 person bus rental. It was around $100+ per day, plus $0.49 per mile.

Nvm that's only $210 for the whole trip.

So it might be doable

And if its split between all those going it might be very doable.

I'll look into it a bit more tomorrow.

@Erika If you do have time to find a hate bus that will be cool too. We can compare the stuff we find, though a quick look through google didn't turn up much at least in the Tampa area.

@TheFash you'll need the truck for 3-4 days, and it's $392 for miles one way + gas. It might be reasonable if you get enough people, but it'll probably still be less expensive to take a few cars.

@Erika Alright, we can get a 15 person passenger van from Enterprise for $625 for 4 days (Thursday the 10th—Monday the 14th). Even if we only have 10 people on board, the cost per rider would be around $75 if you include gas, insurance for multiple drivers, and taxes.

All you have to do is drop it off with a full tank.

That's affordable. You'd probably only be able to fit 10 people on board with luggage you'll have to take. And it'll probably be really cramped with 10.

There's not much luggage space in the back of those vans. That's why if you rent a 15 person van, you should plan for it to only carry a tight fit of 10

From my searches, there are very few places that can house that many people. They're also expensive. You guys would be better off renting two AirBnBs

I don't WANT to have to leave thursday evening after work and hit the road on my motorcycle towards c-ville, but will if I have to. But being an MC primary-mode-of-transportation person, I need advanced planning more than most people do.

I still have a couple of seats in the Orlando hate bus. Since I assume there will be a lot of last minute add ons it would be pretty easy to get a second bus. It only took me about 3 minutes to reserve ours.

The detour through Charlotte is only 24 min. out of your way, and it's a way more scenic drive by the Blue Ridge. Some of us will be driving into Charlotte on Aug. 11, and leaving early from Columbia, which might be a good meeting point for Florida people. Also, we just reserved another house rental for overflow from the NC Haus. There's still space in that too... the new "SC Haus". First come, first serve. Seats on the Hate Van (including gas) are $45. Two nights at the SC Haus = $65. Payment can be made to me via PayPal to [email protected]. Then PM to confirm with me.

The Cville server won't let me "@everyone", so I'm not sure how to disseminate this information as widely as possible:

I live in Columbia, SC ten minutes east of the intersection of I-20 and I-77, and an hour west of the intersection of I-20 and I-95. Like so many others, we have a van headed to Cville on Friday. We're a 5 hour drive from there.

Many people have had their lodging near Cville canceled. I imagine that some might now be faced with the choice of skipping sleeping in Cville Friday night and starting a long drive in the wee hours of Saturday morning to make the rally.

I want to put out there that, provided I could tag along for the ride up, I will be happy to stay behind on Friday and open my home to anyone traveling from South or West of here who want to break up their long trip.
