Tumeric is a great herbal supplement to fight inflammation. MSM, Glucosamine, Chondroitin, Collagen, and ashwaganda are pretty good too. Any GNC will carry an abundance of them. Triflex is a relatively cheap formula that combines them, but imo Instaflex or Dr. Joints is a lot better. @JesseJames

Unfortunately, a hectic work life added with school has left me without a lot of energy in what little free time I do have. But that's no excuse, and it's just a mental barrier I have to get over.

Who has some experience with massage balls/rollers? I’ve gotten to where my back and shoulder muscles stay so tense they’re almost always sore. I have curvature of the spine from a moto accident from when I was younger so that doesn’t help but I thought I might try one of these balls or rollers.

@JesseJames They can be very helpful but it has to be a consistent habit to have any real relief.
@JesseJames Foam rolling is clutch. I do not think I would be able to function without it. Remember that the tightness you feel can be stemming from other parts of the body, so roll out as much as you can. For example my lower back gets tight if I don't keep my hips loose

Iron path is useful for olympic lifters and any kind of weight training, pretty neat stuff. Free version only lets you keep 3 videos at a time, though.

I knew some kids in high school that did cross country, were thin and short, could knock out 40+ pull-ups with ease
It was weird man. They did 20 pullups, then did a set of 10 pushups on the raised bar, then did 20 more
When in the army, I would do wide arm pushups for my PT test. My range of motion was like 4 inches. Maxed those shits.

Well I’ve been using a foam roller for about a week and I can say it is helping me out. I think I find better ways to use it every couple of days still so I’d say the rollers are promising.

You guys have any tips on strength training? I work manual labor and I’m really tired of my muscles feeling completely dead whenever I come home
@NITRODUBS I work manual labour as well. The trick for me is to do it first thing in the morning, before going to work. I feel like it makes me less tired at work and gives me more energy. That's why I go to bed at 8 every night now. So I can wake up at 4, cook breakfast, be at the gym and then to work by 7
My only problem is I already have to wake up at 4 so I don’t know how I’d manage that hahaha
I lost a lot of weight since I started working there and i just feel a lot weaker now

I always go to the gym about 2 hours after work, 4-5 days a week. Eat enough carbs and take my pre workout and I'm usually good to go.

I try and get 8, but usually end up at 6-7
I'm making gains so it's all good
7-9. Sleep is number one factor in health, happiness, recovery, brain health

Yeah I have started training calves, albeit on the dreaded MACHINES. Calves recover more quickly than most, IIRC
I homegym it, calves are weird training without machines
How exactly do you guys train calves? I basically just do calf raises and a calf extension machine
on the end of my bench is a quad extention bit, I put it up completely, slip my knees under and use it as an improvised seated calve raise
There is a squat machine. I do actual squats in the free-weight barbell rack/cage. But I do calves in the machine, just raising up and down utilizing the elevation of the machine's foot platform as compared to the actual ground.
can't really load a bunch of weight with this method sadly
and i just do standing barbell calve raises
but you gotta balance, so can't go super heavy either
just my own limitations
