2017-07-16 15:34:17 UTC

anyone know if these are illegal?

2017-07-16 15:36:12 UTC
2017-07-16 15:38:13 UTC

I have no idea what the fuck I'm looking at?

2017-07-16 15:39:21 UTC

Sap/Billy club il

2017-07-16 15:41:34 UTC

I'll have to come back to that later, I am not sure about that.

2017-07-16 15:55:41 UTC

@junker that's what a wrench with tape wrapped around the handle is for.

2017-07-16 16:27:08 UTC

That leather handle thing has a metal or lead weight in it. called a blackjack. And ya, popo definitely considers them an offensive weapon

2017-07-16 16:28:41 UTC

they're pretty much the same thing as a bike lock on a rope/bandana/etc. highly dangerous

2017-07-16 18:51:31 UTC

Saps are usually super illegal, even if not they show you're there for trouble

2017-07-17 06:22:43 UTC

@here friend is asking if face paint is legal

2017-07-17 06:46:20 UTC

It's not and it's not a good idea either.

2017-07-17 16:22:59 UTC

Is it legal to run over protestors blocking roadways?

2017-07-17 16:24:00 UTC

I'm NOT just shitposting. I would like clarification. I know it's legal in NC and a few other states. I'm legitimately curious for the answer

2017-07-18 04:24:46 UTC

2017-07-18 04:26:21 UTC

@Spaceman (DSB) face paint is not legal. A man got arrested and charged with a felony in Virginia because he was wearing face paint, and they considered that "a mask".

2017-07-18 16:58:40 UTC

If someone were to call in a bomb threat at the last minute, what would be the police's procedure under Virginia state law?

2017-07-18 17:05:19 UTC

To screw us over. Unless the police had searched and cleared the area at which point they could say the threat is without merit.
What would you guess they would bet they will do?

2017-07-18 17:07:31 UTC

I figured. Just wanted to double check. :/ What's the likelihood of an enemy doing that?

2017-07-18 17:36:11 UTC

Depends on if the think federal terrorism charges would be filed.

2017-07-18 17:36:32 UTC

That tactic has largely died down since those sorts of laws have been passed

2017-07-18 17:54:43 UTC

They used bomb threats against Milo last year. I could see them at least considering that option to shut us down, especially since this rally will be so big.

2017-07-18 19:42:45 UTC

Tfw I hate hecklers veto so much that I go anyway and it's actually more than a threat because they failed to mention it wasn't a threat from antifa but actually the local mosque

2017-07-18 19:42:51 UTC

Rip

2017-07-18 23:41:06 UTC

Pretty shocked blackjacks aren't kosher.

2017-07-19 02:21:33 UTC

lmao they're generally an offense-only weapon. Of course they wouldn't be allowed.

2017-07-19 02:21:53 UTC

They scream "I'm here to hurt people and I don't care who"

2017-07-19 10:17:35 UTC

A wrench with a wrist lanyard gets the same job accomplished.

2017-07-27 01:04:06 UTC

At best it would simply delay the rally. It's not that big of a park to run dogs through

2017-07-27 06:10:08 UTC

No-mask laws should be unconstitutional

2017-07-27 06:12:53 UTC

I checked the va law and you can't even wear a gas mask

2017-07-27 10:41:45 UTC

@Tiwaz in this scenario, it will actually help us. Also, the irony of it originally being intended to stifle KKK activity, but now being used to arrest those who oppose White Nationalism is pretty delicious.

2017-07-27 15:31:25 UTC

Respirators should not be illegal

2017-07-27 15:31:58 UTC

See (ii), since they are protective equipment and the intent is not to hide identity...

2017-07-27 17:00:56 UTC

@Stannisthemannis what about a mask like this

2017-07-27 17:02:02 UTC

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/321840769239613453/340177021445472256/gas_mask.jpg

2017-07-27 17:12:24 UTC

If you are in a situation where you are being maced why Not?

Can't wear it while randomly walking down the street

2017-07-27 17:13:04 UTC

If you're actively Being maced you're not gonna have time to put that on

2017-07-27 17:13:28 UTC

And that's a sure way to get charged

2017-07-27 17:15:53 UTC

I'm bringing a 3m half mask respirator

2017-07-27 17:55:23 UTC

@Johnny O'Malley I'm not worried about mace, i've been maced in the face before. CS gas is much much worse

2017-07-27 17:56:14 UTC

I'd take cs gas over mace 7 days a week

2017-07-27 17:57:06 UTC

@Johnny O'Malley Haha really? A pair of sunglasses will mitigate most of the debilitating effects of pepper spray, but not a nice thick cloud of CS

2017-07-27 17:58:12 UTC

Yeah but as soon as you get away from the cs and clap your arms a little you're fine. Great for allergies and sinuses. Last time I Personally got maced I was down for about 15- 20 mins

2017-07-27 17:59:12 UTC

Yeah it sure is good for your sinuses alright, will clear them right out ๐Ÿ˜„

2017-07-27 18:00:49 UTC

Pepper spray is probably more likely to be deployed at this event than cs gas though, i'm willing to guess

2017-07-27 18:15:26 UTC

Is there any law restricting the type of flag poles we bring? Im willing to look up statutes but no idea what sort of statute would restrict this

2017-07-27 18:42:19 UTC

@WhiteTrash I haven't seen it mentioned. Are you wanting to bring something weird?

2017-07-27 18:43:25 UTC

no

2017-07-27 18:43:53 UTC

was just gonna get a dowel rod or something

2017-07-27 18:44:15 UTC

or buy a flagpole off amazon..whatever

2017-07-27 18:55:13 UTC

That part in the law about protective devices is for people who are actively employed in a business that requires them to use protective gear

2017-07-27 18:55:34 UTC

Not just anyone wearing protective gear

2017-07-27 21:17:28 UTC

Nathan is checking with the police on flagpoles because there was some concerns over them being construed as weapons. He is supposed to make an announcement about it as soon as he finds out something

2017-07-27 21:17:57 UTC

Kkk had flag poles no?

2017-07-27 21:34:10 UTC

I believe so. On live hours last night he said that the police were going to try and control the group's getting into the park and the flag post may not be allowed but they are going to follow up

2017-07-27 21:34:38 UTC

Poles

2017-07-27 21:49:53 UTC

i'm gonna be there early before they control so whatever

2017-07-27 21:50:16 UTC

only real question is AK47 or AR15

2017-07-27 21:50:48 UTC

i kid i don'te ven have any funs

2017-07-27 21:50:55 UTC

but i do have lots of flags

2017-07-28 01:19:57 UTC

@greg-ky VA is not CA or DC. The police cannot under pretty much any circumstances prevent you from carrying anything that is not explictly illegal by state law. You can open carry a sword if you want, as long as you do not brandish it. Nathan doesn't understand how the law works here, which is why he said that.

2017-07-28 02:04:46 UTC

@Kurt ๐Ÿ‘

2017-07-29 03:00:49 UTC

Thats very bad advice

2017-07-29 03:00:55 UTC

Stop giving bad legal advice unless you're a lawyer

2017-07-29 03:01:27 UTC

You literally cut out the part for how it's about wearing respirators and masks in the process of working a job

2017-07-29 03:04:22 UTC

"engaged in professions, trades, employment or other activities and wearing protective masks which are deemed necessary for the physical safety of the wearer"

2017-07-29 03:05:14 UTC

"or other activities and wearing protective masks which are deemed necessary for the physical safety of the wearer" means the law covers it. if antifa or cops are slinging pepper spray is that not deemed necessary for your physical safety?

2017-07-29 03:05:18 UTC

Are you a lawyer?

2017-07-29 03:05:37 UTC

no its called reading comprehension

2017-07-29 03:16:09 UTC

"It shall be unlawful for any person over 16 years of age to, with the intent to conceal his identity," this part also nullifies wearing a respirator and sunglasses being a crime since your intent is for personal protection from chemical agents and not to conceal your identity

2017-07-29 03:20:23 UTC

Is this also the section where we give bad lifting advice?

2017-07-29 04:09:11 UTC

Intent seems to be a key word there

And what is the definition of "other activities"?

2017-07-29 04:13:01 UTC

I do know a Virginia lawyer... I'll inquire

2017-07-29 12:09:29 UTC

@Melektaus that is horrible advice. If you wear any kind of face covering material (except sunglasses) you will be arrested and charged with a felony

2017-07-29 12:10:15 UTC

Most riot police will not stop to hear your "comprehension" of the law as they arrest you

2017-07-29 14:39:57 UTC

@SaintCharles Its best to let people do as they wish, if they don't follow laws , thats on them. I've tried helping but people insist to resist the advice

2017-07-29 15:11:56 UTC

I'm clear on the VA provisions for open carry from the above. Thank you!

That said, do we anticipate any part of the public event(s) taking place in one of the numerous localities/settings to which specific prohibitions apply? Do we have men who plan to open carry?

I'm seriously contemplating a full-size pistol in a drop-leg platform.

2017-07-29 15:23:48 UTC

@PureDureSure no place we will be will prohibit carry. However open carry is highly frowned upon

2017-07-29 15:24:10 UTC

conceal it.

2017-07-29 15:27:28 UTC

Thank you, @Kurt . I may have to forego carrying a gun, then. I don't have an active CWP of any description/jurisdiction.

2017-07-29 15:29:25 UTC

so get one.

2017-07-29 15:34:13 UTC

I'm going to try, but doubt they'll turn the application around in less than two weeks' time (they claim a 90-day potential maximum).

2017-07-29 15:34:44 UTC

depends on the state

2017-07-29 15:37:26 UTC

Depends on the county

2017-07-29 15:55:47 UTC

Not that they would ever have reason to so much as know where we're lodging, but on the 0.1% chance they were to take some interest in it, would VA law look with disdain on the presence of some hardware in the house in which we're bedding down?

2017-07-29 16:01:00 UTC

VA is a fire arm friendly state... hell it is an open carry state

2017-07-29 16:22:31 UTC

I got mine back in a week so I would try and see what happens

2017-07-29 16:25:47 UTC

I dunno it doesn't take a $200/hr lawyer to read and understand one sentence but that's just me. I doubt anyone will be tackled to the ground and cuffed because you pulled out and donned a respirator if antifa started spewing pepper spray.

2017-07-29 17:09:43 UTC

It all depends on the state and the town, in RI it can take from 2 weeks for some of the town permits to over 6mo for CCW from the attorney general then states like NJ or NY can take years

2017-07-29 17:10:57 UTC

Take it for what it's worth, but LEO's arrested a bunch of Antifa for masking up after tear gas was deployed.

2017-07-29 17:11:26 UTC

At the Klan rally recently.

2017-07-29 19:09:36 UTC

"We tried to gas you but you tried to protect yourself from it now you're under arrest"

2017-07-29 19:17:18 UTC

Law and law enforcement doesn't always make sense, but it is what it is.
