@Tanner - SC any idea why? people finally realizing BCH is the superior blockchain?

2018-11-15 01:18:17 UTC

BCH hard forks tomorrow morning. Everyone is going nuts because of the uncertainty.

2018-11-15 01:19:11 UTC

@Tanner - SC right I meant BCH sorry sorry, but that's good to know thanks for the info! Anything interesting about the hard fork?

2018-11-15 01:20:11 UTC

Most interesting thing IMO is the buy opportunity. I love dramatic events like this.

2018-11-15 05:27:49 UTC

Itโ€™s the most exciting, wacky, wild-west time in Bitcoinโ€™s history tomorrow

2018-11-15 05:31:43 UTC

It might very well be the best purchasing opportunity ever for BCH. However I expect the uncertainty will last days, if not months @Tanner - SC, unless Craig and Calvin are bluffing

2018-11-15 14:24:11 UTC

@Alexander Pechorin good, I prefer buying windows of months rather than days. This reminds me of when Silk Road got shut down. The price tanked hard, but only for a few hours. I bought heavy in that window.

I donโ€™t have enough money to buy all the BCH I want to buy!

2018-11-15 15:23:58 UTC

Idk Iโ€™ve not been in crypto a while

2018-11-15 15:24:08 UTC

Iโ€™ve lost money so I donโ€™t want to lose more

Economically when a hard fork happens, the USD price on the original blockchain gets split between the two forks (so long as the market demand stays the same) plus there is an implied volatility premium for the cost of speculators looking to make money on fast movements after the fork. The two forks "fight it out" for who gets most of the business from the old blockchain. As this fight settles and "the winner" becomes more clear, the implied volatility premium decreases, so if market demand stays constant over all this time then the sum of the prices of the two crytocurrencies steadily decreases over time.

So if crypto XYZ is worth 100 dollars when a hard fork called XYZ2 happens, then so long as market demand stays the same then the USD price of XYZ plus USD price of XYZ2 should equal 100 dollars plus the premium of the implied volatility as the two block chains compete to win. This implied volatility premium will diminish over time as "the winner" becomes more clear so that in the long run, assuming market demand stays constant, the sum of the prices will go back down to 100 over time.

2018-11-21 18:11:37 UTC

It will be curious to see whether the market will trust bch/bchsv again now. Volume appears obscenely low on both chains, though thatโ€™s not exactly surprising given the remaining uncertainty

2018-11-23 17:40:07 UTC

Iโ€™ll hold onto my SV all the same. I prefer Daniel Krawiszโ€™s approach to forks.

2018-11-23 18:15:32 UTC

@Alexander Pechorin if you had bch, then don't you have both bchabc and bchsv?

2018-11-23 18:15:44 UTC

Because they forked from the same blockchain?

2018-11-23 19:12:25 UTC

Yes!

2018-11-23 19:12:44 UTC

It looks like itโ€™s just BCH and BCHSV. I doubt BCHABC will stick on any exchanges

96% drop from the peak on December 20, 2017

2018-12-05 18:41:43 UTC

@Tanner - SC BCH had some forks recently, right? If you had 1 BCH a month ago then now you have 1 BCH + 1 BCHABC + 1 BCHSV, right? What's the value of your coin if you add up all three?

2018-12-05 20:39:41 UTC

@ThisIsChris I had 1 BCH worth $600 a month ago. I had several, but use 1 for example.

Now I have 1 BCHSV worth $60 and 1 BCH worth $140 for a total of $200.

I sold my BCHSV and bought BCH. So I have $200 worth of BCH, down from $600.

2018-12-05 20:40:40 UTC

@Tanner - SC thanks, that's very clear

2018-12-05 20:40:48 UTC

And interesting

2018-12-07 04:22:29 UTC

Yes

2018-12-07 04:22:48 UTC

SV is looking tempting now.

2018-12-07 04:22:54 UTC

I havenโ€™t split any coins

2018-12-07 04:23:41 UTC

I suspect Craig and Calvin are manipulating the market for it, but it has just overtaken BCH

2018-12-10 22:57:56 UTC

> The amount of open short trades has just reached an all-time high for Bitcoin while hitting a new yearly low at $3,280.

A lot of people seem pessimistic in crypto now, it could be a good buying opportunity, but I don't know if there's a great solution yet to on-board non-experts into crypto. I think Augur is a killer app that has finally come out after a ton of development

2018-12-17 18:30:23 UTC

Is it easy to get started with a btc wallet?

@VinceChaos yeah coinbase is the easiest way

2019-01-04 03:19:17 UTC

Ok folks. I have some STEEM / SBD that I accumulated last year, I want to trade it for something else. Right now we have some LTC. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ What would you get if you were me???

2019-01-04 23:00:32 UTC

BCH

2019-01-14 03:36:56 UTC

So is BCH predicted to rise?? Looks like it is down from a year ago? I am So out of the loop!

2019-01-14 05:07:30 UTC

@Volkmom unfortunately probably not. I think cryptos are generally useful but I wouldn't hold large quantities of it at a time. It's like gold, you may hold some of it but generally it's better to buy it just when you think you're going to use it.

2019-01-14 20:03:58 UTC

IMO, BTC and BCH are the originals, none of the other coins have brought anything useful to the table. Of the two, BTC has no ability to scale because it deliberately limited its number of transactions per hour to a tiny number. BCH can do unlimited transactions per hour.

2019-01-18 01:42:58 UTC

@ThisIsChris That makes sense. I have never purchased crytpo with USD, (my personal policy) but I earned some SBD from blogging on the STEEM blockchain last year. I am just trying to figure out what to do with it now, bc it doesn't add up to much USD. Also, to convert it to USD and get out, I would need to buy BTC with it first anyway.

2019-01-26 17:00:43 UTC

The ultimate value of any crypto is its ability to function as a medium of exchange. There are technical and legal components to this ability. When making crpyto investments attempt to assess it's value as a trade medium. One primary technical limit is transactions per second. Another is security. Imo all cryptos must be assessed relative to BCH for value they bring to table.

You can assess a crypto worth by comparing its technical merits against bch and then evaluating it's value per unit adjusting for volume in comparison to BCH

Buy low, sell high. Imo now is good time to get into cryptos. But discriminate. Buy the good ones.

2019-01-27 20:50:43 UTC

@Perihelion - CA do you have a particular place to buy you recommend, or particular coins to buy?

2019-01-28 23:27:14 UTC

Coinbase

2019-01-28 23:49:35 UTC

Any opinions of trading crypto on Gemini? They have a huge ad campaign going on right now, looks like they are really trying to break through and I think they are the standard exchange that CME uses to price their Bitcoin futures

2019-01-29 00:01:28 UTC

Gemini is founded by the Winklevoss twins, so I trust it.

2019-01-29 02:29:28 UTC

I like paying my IE fees (dues, merch, etc..) with BTC. Any suggestions on cheapest way to convert USD and transfer?

Coinbase, Gemini, Kraken are all American and trustworthy. Bitstamp is European and trustworthy.
