@Reinhard Wolff Okay, so hereโs what I envision for this. We advertise on the main server that weโre looking for โhostsโ or subject matter experts in each of the main skill areas. These people will be moderators on this server. Preferably, the hosts will be committed to posting a short blurb a couple times a week in their host channel (For example, how a fuel pump works, how to plant a crop, how to build a fire, etc.). Will try to keep the channels clutter-free so guys can ask questions (Like when Kobaโs alternator died on him).
---
The reason for the idea is that Iโve noticed, especially with the younger guys, most of them seem to lack practical skills. I feel like good nationalists should be able to handle themselves in the real world and not just in theory and abstraction.
Sounds good. I'll let you take the lead on this. Let me know what I can do to help. @Deleted User
@Reinhard Wolff If I type up a sort of ad, can you or one of the admins in the main server post it for me so everyone can see it?
Yeah, sure thing.
Lemme work up an ad
I did one but it was too long. Will abbreviate it
The ad would look something like this. Iโd like it posted to @everyone in the #helpwanted channel of the main server. Please feel free to tweak it as you like.
*Itโs time to start reequipping our people with the manly, applied skills that the baby boomers abandoned in favor of paying other people to do their work for them.
To that end, we are starting an IE-exclusive practical skills server.
The purpose is to provide IE members with a medium to (1) learn about practical skills and (2) ask questions and get quick answers.
To that end, we are looking for subject-matter โexpertsโ in the fields listed below to act as moderators (โhostsโ) on the new server.
Hosts will be expected to (1) guide conversations in their respective fields, (2) provide quick answers to questions posed by IE members, and (3) post a weekly blurb or two in their field of expertise.
Currently, the fields we are looking for are: carpentry, electrical, farming/gardening, mechanics, first aid/first responder, and outdoorsmanship.
If you have experience in these fields, and are interested in being a moderator on the new server, please DM @Uilliam Cionnaoith โ MD.*
Let me know what you want me to do with this server.
Can you post the ad @everyone help wanted on main server? Good way to get subject matter experts and gauge interest at the same time
I can just do an announcement.
Your call.
Yeah that's perfecr
Perfect
If you do announcement maybe add cooking. Guys should learn how to cook. That's one thing I definitely can't do
Awesome. Thanks much.
Curious to see how many hits we get back.
Hawk in the.... Server
Hey brother. Can you see the conversations above?
Yes
Back to June 10
Great. Have a look and hang out. May take a while to get our SMEs (subject matter experts) all together
It's all good brother.
Then I'll give you all mod permissions
No problem.
Welcome @Lebens and thanks. Scroll up in this channel to get up to speed.
Just caught up
Show me where it hurts
Well met Doc and thanks. Please review up in this channel to catch up.
Yup already done
@Deleted User lmk if my initial post in electrical is what your looking for. Also i sold a HVAC install for monday that i would like to share
After its complete
It's good to go. I'm looking for basics for the weekly blurbs. Introducing guys to electrical work, circuits, safety, etc
We don't need guys swapping out transformers just yet lol
I can also teach electrical theory, pratical use, codes, troubleshooting, safety as well as advanced techniques for seasoned tradesmen
Awesome.
Welcome our mechanic @Yuma County. Please scroll up in this channel to get up to speed.
@everyone Let's have a voicechat tonight at 9:00 EST. Shouldn't be but fifteen minutes but I want to make sure we're all on the same page before we launch.
Also, it may be good to have a couple of hosts in certain subjects to cover for each other and increase the speed of responses to questions.
But we'll be able to start at least as long as we have one in each area
Unfortunately not going to be able to make that, wife sick and that's bedtime for little.one.
@Deleted User wanna do a wee bit earlier? 8 or 830?
1830-2100 kind of tough with dinner, family time, bed time routine for kid. More likely I can hop.on a little.late 2120-2130
I have to do an alignment on the motorcycle so I will take that time to take some interdictory photos and put something up on the Mechanics text channel later this morning. I should be available for our quick voice chat.
Ok. We can do 9:30 chat tonight @everyone
That *should* work for me.
Yes, i will be able to make it to the chat
I'm up for it.
So thats 1830 pst?
Yezzir
Gonna change the extensions on server nicknames to match your SME areas.
I like this.
When are we allowed to post our blurbs? I have an indertuctory post ready to go in Word to just copy/paste.
You can post at anytime I think because guys can read channels from before when they join
Okay. I'll post around 2pm my time. I need a power nap.
@everyone Unless there's objection, I'm gonna aim to have two SME's per area as we go along so we increase coverage and speed up response time to questions. We can launch the server with one each though.
Well met @Louis Loire - NY. Please read above to catch up.
And thanks for pitching in
Welcome @Mark Vandal. Please read above
@Deleted User I get off work around 9. Should be home by 9:30 or 9:45
soudns good thanks
I also may need some help with the finer points of discord server management
Resident chef reporting
Welcome @Alexander B. - SC
Confirming for 9:30 EST?
Can someone go to the announcement channel and see if it lets you post in there.
9:30 EST yes
The Cheif chef
I don't see an announcement channel.
Hmm
okay how about now?
Channel is up. No announcement
How about now? You should see "test" in there but it should say read only
Got it ๐๐ป
great thanks
Saw it
Thanks
@everyone Off to a great start in the channels boys. Again, thanks to everyone for doing this.
We still doing a chat tonight
Yes @everyone 9:30 EST voicechat. Should only tel about 10 minutes
Dealing with sick wife and baby, unable to make it tonight sorry.
Sweet, thanks for the invite
So we have:
2 x Carpenter
1 x Cook
1 x Mechanic
2 x Medic
2 x Electrician
2 x Outdoorsman
1 x Gardner
1 x Machinist
We should be good to go!
Tomorrow I'll probably put up a text post explaining the differences in motor oils.
Gotta start this off autistically. ๐๐ป
Awesome. There'll soon be no need to use google because we'll provide a more Identitarian angle on things. Google: "Leaving a car battery on concrete will cause it to drain." Our Server: "Leaving a car batter on concrete will cause it to drain cuz Jews."
@Yuma County tag koba in that one if he joins
When are we going live?
Very cool idea not sure how active I'll be in here but big round of applause for getting it rolling ๐
Dude this is awesome. I can offer cooking wisdom @Deleted User
Your reputation with nutrition precedes you, Herr @Marlow, and your skills will be most welcome.
Aww shit. I'm at the local autoparts place picking some oil up. We're gonna learn some stuff today.
Just throwing this out there, but this is the best server ever. It's so nice to see everyone sharing practical knowledge and looking at pictures of people engaging in their skills and hobbies.
Ah cool. Hope this server will be all it was described to be.
Question.
How are we gonna be able to see methods and information in the channels without scrolling through a bunch of messages to get back to the actual content.
Or will we just have to do it? I don't mind it's just on mobile this is gonna get interesting.
Pinning certain posts or making files and pinning them or something
I think the SMEs all have the ability to pin messages. Any other ideas to keep things accessible are welcome.
Pinning is the only thing that comes to mind unless we want someone to screencap the methods and compile them into folders.
Would speech skills and argumentative skills be too much of a stretch for this server? @Deleted User
This seems more like a trade-based server, but if we are using practical skills, speech would definitely be up there.
On the voice chat last night we were talking about getting everything setup we were discussing adding of other channels. I think they want to bring things on board a little at a time just to gauge interest and responses
Yeah, there are many things that could still be added, such as stonemasonry
Hell yeah
Aye that's the plan. I'd like to see how the dynamics go and then we can start adding other areas of interest.
Socrates was a stonemason.
All great thinkers, including our founding fathers, used to *do* stuff.
Got something on motor oil posted in <#322712586741088256>
The ethno state is gonna have the best food and the best built stuff
True alpha tier grill set up! Nice
Yeah that's beast
You guys have no idea how much I'm looking forward to the aesthetic creation of the ethnostate
Also glad to be here- lots of interesting stuff so far. Wish I could contribute more, but I am a lowly (((finance student.)))
Which section would be botany and plants.
Not so much gardening but plants still.
I just gonna throw the info in gardening, then put the general plants in outdoorsmen.
@Nova could do both. Wild plants in outdoorsman. Others in gardening
Alright.
Am present
I can haz skillz?
U got skillz.
IE Guilds whens?
Outdoorsman is now Rangers.
I guess that works.
Is it the same general content, or is it more camp focused.
same just different name
Ah, alright.
Yeah just cuz I think it sounds better
How come no plumbing? Everyone has plumbing issues.
Will probably add plumbing soon if enough people have issues
oh cool, Just real quick anyone doing work on a home built in 1978 or older, do a lead test before you start doing any work. Lead is deadly to the little ones and old ones. I'm certified in Lead abatement, please ask questions if you think there might be lead in your home.
With that said lead in your home is totally fine, unless paint is chipping. Same goes for asbestos.
@Deleted User A couple that I met in my travels have recently joined IE. They are both knowledgeable in gardening. How do I get them an invite ?
@The Morrรญgan#2239 the link in the announcement channel should be perma. If not let me know and I'll shoot you another one
Suggestion for lessonposting: compile the images and text inside a single image via MS paint that way all the lesson channels are more easily navicable and everyone can save / share instead of scrolling through potentially endless piles of images to find anything. Maybe add a title before posting for search indexing purposes
Example:
How to make crepes
Why post that in general?
You should put it in <#338763700750123009>
Look above..
Ohhhh.
Yeah alright, that is a good idea.
You should also repost that in cooking though. :^)
Nah I'll make some OC sometimes for you goys. That was like number one Google result.
@Dan iiii#6460 Very smart. We were just having a similar discussion in our SME channel.
Only question is how much of a pain it would be
^
It would be very time consuming.
@Nova BTW, since you're here. Can you see the lessons channels and the <#339720464471425026> channel? Wanna mkae sure I set them up right.
I can. It's looking good.
Great, thanks brother.
Yep.
Reeeeee crepes made in a pan
@Deleted User just a suggestion. It'd probably take two minutes or so to arrange the pics in MS paint. Writing would be equivalent. Single upload. Although you'd need to do it from a desktop unless there's some app that's flexible enough. I'd love to save that firemaking info but I'd have to do a bunch of screenshots.
@Deleted User I was gonna post my compost recipes for plant growth and propagating, but I can't post in the lessons section. What would you recommend I do?
@Nova We can pin it in the discussions
Aight.
I'll get to that later today.
๐๐ป
Will probably have something up about changing a tire to post tomorrow since I will be out of town Monday. After that I'll doccument an oil change on the Ford.
Can someone assign each person learning as student of a certain field so we aren't lumped in with the @everyone notification?
For instance I would want to be a student of farming/gardening
@Deleted User whatcha mean? Can you clarify brother?
Like, by channel?
As in if someone came here to learn just mechanics then they should be put into the group of Mechanic - Student. Just as others have the title of SME. Then you could do (@methanic - student) to notify them
What if someone wants to learn a little of everything?
Then they don't have to be put into a group. I'm just annoyed from the everyone notification. It'll also help us in the future
Actually, I meant to have the everyone notification available only to the SMEs. Would that help?
You can mute the channels you don't want giving you notifications
^this
Just mute the @ everyone command.
New post up, not as many photos with some bad MS paint thrown in but it should get to the point!
Ok
Will clear this up later
BTW I haven't seen any everyone notifications in this server. Am I missing something?
@Deleted User you may already know this but if you don't want a tag every time someone writes something in the server, you can tweak it in your notification settings
I think you can personally mute any channels you don't want, though ideally guys would be checking in on all servers to learn things.
We should have a safety thread.
I told him to rub some dirt on it and let's get back to work.
It's going to be a wonderful day...
Ooh, yeah, looks like he may have gotten some tendons?
Oosh. What happened?
Fuck dude!!!
Only a flesh wound..
Delicious
I mean... ouch
@Deleted User he did, the doc told him to do nothing because there isn't much left to sew up.
From what I understand he was loading a 40ft ladder on his truck this morning and slipped and the ladder smashed his finger into the stop on his ladder rack.
He said it never hurt until after he left the hospital, so you know it was bad.
Poor guy wasn't at work yet so workers comp said they aren't going to cover it.
That's fucked. Hopefully he has some secondary insurance
He does. It's bullshit workers comp won't cover it. He's the second guy I know personally who got hurt loading things for the job at their home that they won't cover.
I swear those kikes at those comp companies aim to not give out money
My girlfriend messed her wrist up at work recently and they wouldn't give her a dime. Had the doctor's notes and everything documented and they claimed she didn't.
She was quitting there anyways and it happened on her last week so she didn't fight it.
Yeah they're a joke. Hope your girl's ok. Wrist damage could be potentially bad, like as far as long term problems.
At least he's alive. I've seen people die at work
Everything from arcs, people falling, and scissor lifts falling over
I was up in a basket on a fork lift and the driver drove me into a steel beam once, luckily I was wearing a helmet
Still gave me whiplash though
Damn
One time i had a scissor lift tip and i grabbed a fire protection water pipe and literally kept it from tilting over. I had to wait on some guys to help
I was about 20' in the air
Word, I was at Toyota Princeton, IN one afternoon and one of the vendors was walking the conveyor where the seats come down to thr line, they were looking up and walking and someone didn't close the hatch where the seats go down and dude fell on to two something like 3foot spikes. Died right there. Hands down the absolutely worst thing I've ever seen in person.
@Lebens that sucks. @Thomas Morrow I was driving a man lift at full speed around a house and hit a bump it was like a slingshot, threw me in the air, I had my harness on that day, lucky haha
Construction sites and factories are hazardous
@RevStench i refuse to move a scissor lift horizontally unless its fully lowered first, after that fire pipe save the company at the time i was working for when i wagecucked made it a rule that scissor lifts were not allowed to drive while lifted at all
Idgaf if it takes longer im going home to my kids after work
Haha for sure. I'm the same way these days. I don't take extra risks unless there is no other option. I don't even get on scaffolding without a harness anymore either
If i sell a contract that requires scaffolding i charge so much i just pay someone to climb it. I don't mess with that
Hahaha I don't get that option. I get to comfortable when I'm up high. You think 60ft+ up in the air walking on a 10in walkboard, you wouldn't let your guard down, but I do.
Hahaha I used to clean out machines for a living, one day while cleaning the Banbury machine (machine that makes rubber used for tubes) this guy turned on the machine and the gate slammed shut and nearly took my arm with it
He said he "didn't see my tag"
He didnt see your tag? Wtf? Did he see his teeth come out?
Oh fuck that. Did you not have to lock out?
Lock out tag out!!
Always!
And only you have the damn key
I had my tag on it but I couldn't put my lock on because it would have cut power to machines that were still running. Arkansas factories for ya...
That shit doesn't fly in an auto plant
I quit that job because they ran me into the ground under absurdly unsafe conditions for next to no pay
The turnover rate for that job is ridiculous
