There is no way the UK could do Brexit without A. Getting screwed economically or B. opening the door to other nations leaving the EU. Which would never happen.

2018-12-12 10:14:13 UTC

Plus Northern Ireland is enough of a problem to make Brexit difficult.

2018-12-12 10:14:58 UTC

Brexit is economically harmful as well.

2018-12-12 10:15:27 UTC

If the precedent is set that one can leave the EU and not get fucked economically, the whole bit is done for.

2018-12-12 10:19:43 UTC

I donโ€™t really know what to make of the whole thing. I understand the feelings of the regular Britons who donโ€™t like taking orders from Strasbourg, but yanking the country out of its economic integration with its neighbors is going to be pretty rough. I also donโ€™t see a point in leaving the EU if youโ€™re not going to actually address the reason who people voted to leave the EU- immigration. Iโ€™m completely unconvinced a non-EU UK would have a reasonable immigration policy, and Iโ€™m quite sure theyโ€™d just keep doing what theyโ€™re doing now, which is a disaster.

2018-12-12 10:21:22 UTC

Europeans are often either A. Monarchists and agree with the American WNs on some things. or B. Cowards who are racial nihilists.

2018-12-12 10:21:38 UTC

Europe is odd.

2018-12-12 10:24:06 UTC

I was in the UK last month and it was truly staggering how much London had changed between when I was there as a child and now. I went to a few museums, and every time I came across a group of school children on a field trip, maybe three out of fifteen or so were British (or white of another stripe.)

2018-12-12 10:24:32 UTC

Ironically. And hopefully, this plan to create a Pan Euro identity AND THEN adding in Third World people may create a Pan European Identity. Which would be nice. Given the stark contrast between Somalis and Brits vs Brits and other Europeans.

2018-12-12 10:24:51 UTC

Just an update on south africa before I go to sleep

2018-12-12 10:25:44 UTC

London is terrible dude. @ophiuchus

2018-12-12 10:26:38 UTC

Went somewhere for dinner that said it was 5 stars on Yelp. Ended up being a strip club.

2018-12-12 10:26:49 UTC

Finished my beer and bailed.

2018-12-12 10:27:14 UTC

Try showing up as the clearly American White dude in a sport coat and not get nagged for money constantly.

2018-12-12 10:35:42 UTC

It's a worthy consideration. I don't know if you've heard the "race didn't exist until the age of colonization" argument before, but what you're talking about is something kind of similar. The "race didn't exist before colonization" thing is *almost* true, it's just talking about the wrong thing. Genetic population clusters which we call races very much did exist before the age of colonization, but we didn't know about them. A 9th century French peasant might not have even known black people, for example, existed, so of course his conceptualization of his ethnic relation was different. It's only through comparison that differences arise, and when Europeans discovered the rest of the world and met its people, they were able to understand that, for example, the Spanish and the English were more similar to each other than either was to Bantus in Africa or Malays in Indonesia. As their frame of reference expanded, they were able to differentiate people on another level of (dis)similarity- on one plane, between Europeans, and on another, more basal plane, Europeans from other races, such as Africans. While historically this happened "externally," meaning that Europeans were able to perceive this level of racial dissimilarity because they traveled abroad to meet those of other races, the same thing could be happening today "internally." As people from the Europe start to interact *en masse* with people from other racial groups, they might begin to perceive the differences their ancestors did centuries ago and begin to distinguish not just German from Pole, but European from non-European.

2018-12-12 10:35:56 UTC

Yeah London's pretty terrible.

2018-12-12 10:41:59 UTC

There's still a lot of interesting historical stuff to see there, but I really detest the feeling. Going around what is ostensibly the thriving capital of a European country just to see the grandeur of its past exploits and appreciate what it once was while having to systematically avoid witnessing its self-inflicted wounds is depressing. Visiting London is like visiting the grave of an erstwhile celebrated hero whose success bred a life so good he succumbed to suicidal apathy.

2018-12-12 10:42:19 UTC

Good morning

2018-12-12 10:42:39 UTC

I'd almost recommend people go just to get a feel for that emotion- it really helps to crystalize our thoughts about all of this.

2018-12-12 10:42:46 UTC

@Isabella Locke-MT good morning!

2018-12-12 10:43:58 UTC

2018-12-12 10:45:35 UTC

Thank you! Really looking forward to have a bit more time to spend on both myself and IE.

2018-12-12 10:45:36 UTC

Finance

2018-12-12 10:49:40 UTC

I'm about to go through the opposite, lol. When my boy is born in January I probably won't be on as much

2018-12-12 10:50:26 UTC

Completely understandable though. Wish you much luck with your child!

2018-12-12 10:50:29 UTC

Is this your first?

2018-12-12 10:50:38 UTC

Yep.

2018-12-12 10:50:57 UTC

Oh wow- how're you feeling?

2018-12-12 10:51:39 UTC

Amused. He always starts wiggling right after I eat and I just had some breakfast so now I'm watching my stomach move like in the Alien movies

2018-12-12 10:52:05 UTC

I was in Paris when I was like 12 and it was already Africa tier

2018-12-12 10:52:11 UTC

@Isabella Locke-MT when are you due if you don't mind sharing?

2018-12-12 10:52:20 UTC

Jan 31st

2018-12-12 10:52:28 UTC

But I have a feeling he might be a little early

2018-12-12 10:52:30 UTC

we'll see

2018-12-12 10:53:16 UTC

You had breakfast at 3:50 AM?

2018-12-12 10:53:52 UTC

My husband wakes up at 3 to get ready for work. Usually I'll eat a little something while he gets ready and then go back to sleep for 3-4 hours

2018-12-12 10:54:22 UTC

I hope everything goes smoothly for you and the baby. I recall when my son was born. My wife was in labor for 23 hours ๐Ÿ˜ซ

2018-12-12 10:54:43 UTC

First labors are usually pretty long

2018-12-12 10:54:53 UTC

23 oof

2018-12-12 10:54:55 UTC

But then your body gets the hang of it

2018-12-12 10:55:14 UTC

My mom's first (me) was a c-section, and her second was only 4 hours

2018-12-12 10:55:19 UTC

she got off easy

2018-12-12 10:55:49 UTC

When you have a wife and kids, you want to avoid c-section as much as possible

2018-12-12 10:56:38 UTC

iirc scheduling c-sections was very en vouge in the 90s

2018-12-12 10:56:53 UTC

because it let doctors schedule when their patients would give birth

2018-12-12 10:56:54 UTC

C-sections will put you out longer. I was under the assumption that once you had one you could not have another baby delivered naturally.

2018-12-12 10:57:24 UTC

Since you're cutting the uterus or wte

2018-12-12 10:57:28 UTC

No, it's very possible to do a VBAC (vaginal birth after c-section)

2018-12-12 10:57:33 UTC

But most doctors don't want to do it

2018-12-12 10:57:38 UTC

and will fight you on it tooth and nail

2018-12-12 10:58:21 UTC

I guess that's why they decided to discourage us from even getting a c-section in the first place

2018-12-12 10:58:56 UTC

Yes, if at all possible, vaginal is better

2018-12-12 10:59:18 UTC

c-sections dramatically increase the risk of placenta previa and placental abruption in later pregnancies

2018-12-12 11:00:11 UTC

Placental abruption is where the placenta detaches from the uterus and your baby loses the ability to receive oxygen/nutrients

2018-12-12 11:01:07 UTC

We lost our 3rd baby because the placenta partially separated from the uteran wall.

2018-12-12 11:01:19 UTC

Aww, I'm sorry ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

2018-12-12 11:01:50 UTC

It's okay. It was 2014. It hit my wife much harder than me.

2018-12-12 11:02:17 UTC

Yeah, we carry these little ones inside us for 9 months

2018-12-12 11:02:21 UTC

It's a special connection

2018-12-12 11:03:01 UTC

how many children do you have?

2018-12-12 11:03:44 UTC

We have 3. First two are boys, 8 and 6, and a girl, 4

2018-12-12 11:04:20 UTC

Funny, I'm actually getting surgery to undo my vasectomy

2018-12-12 11:04:34 UTC

Why did you have one?

2018-12-12 11:04:56 UTC

Yep, after our last child I was burned out.

2018-12-12 11:05:30 UTC

I wish I didn't get it done but here we are

2018-12-12 11:05:41 UTC

Nothing to do for it now

2018-12-12 11:05:54 UTC

Except try to reverse it

2018-12-12 11:06:11 UTC

Yep. I was lucky and our insurance will cover it.

2018-12-12 11:06:17 UTC

That's good

2018-12-12 11:06:41 UTC

It would be about $8,000 out of pocket to have the surgery

2018-12-12 11:07:34 UTC

That is expensive. More expensive than my birth at the birth center. I decided to go with midwives instead of an OB/GYN because I didn't want them to pressure me into interventions I didn't want to have

2018-12-12 11:08:05 UTC

The whole thing-prenatal, the birth and postpartum will be $5750

2018-12-12 11:08:45 UTC

Crap that sounds a ton better than going through what me and my wife went through

2018-12-12 11:09:11 UTC

I haven't had coffee so it's not my fault that sentence is terrible

2018-12-12 11:10:01 UTC

btw, I don't know how you're managing without coffee or any caffeine.

2018-12-12 11:10:56 UTC

I do have a little coffee a few times a week, usually 6-8 oz. It's safe to have up to 200 mg of caffeine

2018-12-12 11:11:13 UTC

If you guys conceive again, I would look into the midwives in your area

2018-12-12 11:12:42 UTC

I know she really wants to go to a midwife but it was pretty expensive at the time

2018-12-12 11:14:14 UTC

I have heard so many stories of OB/GYNs blatantly disrespecting women's wishes that I don't ever want to birth at a hospital.

2018-12-12 11:15:07 UTC

Imo, they treat pregnancy like a condition to be treated and not a natural process that women have been doing forever

2018-12-12 11:15:29 UTC

Yeah, I think you're right. That's pretty messed up.

2018-12-12 11:15:47 UTC

In hindsight, it was like that when my kids were born

2018-12-12 11:16:28 UTC

My friend's sister had multiple miscarriages. I feel really bad for her because having kids is the one thing she wants more than anything else.

2018-12-12 11:17:09 UTC

She finally managed to get to 7 months this time though so hopefully it works out.

2018-12-12 11:17:35 UTC

Once you get past 3 months, the chances of miscarriage decrease dramatically

2018-12-12 11:18:26 UTC

Miscarriages are heartbreaking ๐Ÿ˜ฐ

2018-12-12 11:19:30 UTC

Well I didn't expect to revisit bad memories in the morning lol

2018-12-12 11:19:40 UTC

Sorry

2018-12-12 11:20:06 UTC

Lol it's fine. I'm making breakfast atm anyway

2018-12-12 11:20:38 UTC

I've got to get my husband's lunch ready

2018-12-12 11:21:43 UTC

Nothing is more awesome than having your lunch ready to go. Hate having to pack my own when I'm in a rush.

2018-12-12 11:23:07 UTC

Yeah I usually get it ready for him, especially since I'm staying home. I really like doing it. I like making his coffee in the morning too but lately he's been getting up before me

2018-12-12 11:23:42 UTC

Yeah, generally guys make the coffee, in my experience.

2018-12-12 11:25:06 UTC

I don't know why but I've made coffee the majority of the time for my wife. Even when I didn't drink coffee. That's when we first started to live together.

2018-12-12 11:33:25 UTC

That's nice

2018-12-12 11:36:55 UTC

@Isabella Locke-MT I was a stay at home dad for about 3 years so I was responsible for maintaining the house and kids in order. It's a job that you can't really "clock out"

2018-12-12 11:38:34 UTC

Yeah that's true. But I think that's true for all parents. Once you have a little baby, there are really no sick days.

2018-12-12 11:39:20 UTC

Even if you get a babysitter, there will always be the parent-mode in the back of your mind.

2018-12-12 11:39:52 UTC

Definitely. Wondering if the baby is still okay, etc

2018-12-12 11:40:28 UTC

Once you have kids, it's hard imagining life without them

2018-12-12 11:40:43 UTC

They're awesome

2018-12-12 11:42:02 UTC

I've wanted a baby so bad for about two years. We waited because money, school, etc. Finally I started a daycare job in April working with 2-3 yr olds and I pretty much broke down on my birthday in May and begged to start trying. I got a baby for my birthday ๐Ÿ˜Š

2018-12-12 11:43:13 UTC

That's really awesome, tbh. I think our(my wife and I) experience was a little less planned

2018-12-12 11:44:14 UTC

We had our first son about 2 years after we got married.

2018-12-12 11:44:38 UTC

It will be 3 for us

2018-12-12 11:45:26 UTC

We've been together 5 years. Got married after 2. Our 3rd anniversary was in November, and our little boy will be born in January-mayyyybe early Feb if he is stubborn

2018-12-12 11:46:35 UTC

That's really great news. It's uncommon for young adults in this time to get married "early" and have kids

2018-12-12 11:47:05 UTC

I met my husband at 18 and will be 23 when Henry gets here.

2018-12-12 11:47:11 UTC

I'm glad we started early

2018-12-12 11:47:56 UTC

That's about the same as me. Met my wife when I was 19 and she was 17.

2018-12-12 11:49:39 UTC

I feel like we've completely dominated general lol

2018-12-12 11:50:34 UTC

Oh lol. Well, I didn't see anyone else posting

2018-12-12 11:51:33 UTC

But I lurk almost all the time. Never really post anything, so there's that.

2018-12-12 11:52:44 UTC

Husband is about to leave in 30ish minutes so I will probably go back to sleep for a bit. No use in having a regular sleep schedule right now since I'm about to have a newborn lol

2018-12-12 11:55:29 UTC

every time I lay down this boy starts rolling around like his imaginary pants are on fire

2018-12-12 11:55:50 UTC

Because he knows that mom is trying to sleep. Duh.

2018-12-12 11:58:52 UTC

The midwives said that I'm basically rocking him to sleep when I'm up and moving around, so they get more active when you lay down since the rocking motion goes away

2018-12-12 12:02:09 UTC

That was my wife's experience since she works as a nurse and on her feet all day

2018-12-12 12:02:31 UTC

@netgearblackhawk The Ukrainians I grew up up around all get married super early

2018-12-12 12:02:39 UTC

18 is pretty normal

2018-12-12 12:03:47 UTC

@Jacob It seems like the culture here is pushing people to be promiscuous for decades.

2018-12-12 12:04:00 UTC

Delay marriage and family

2018-12-12 12:04:28 UTC

Encourage instant gratification, etc.

2018-12-12 12:07:26 UTC

At the same time, guys are getting into relationships too early

2018-12-12 12:08:06 UTC

If you're ready for marriage it's fine, but there's no reason to spend 20 years of your life dating starting in middle school

2018-12-12 12:09:23 UTC

Maybe there's some compelling reason for this that I'm missing, but it seems counterproductive to me

2018-12-12 12:11:48 UTC

Biologically we werenโ€™t made to start being with opposite sex until our late 30s either. Thereโ€™s a reason our bodies change in early teens...

2018-12-12 12:12:05 UTC

I mean, itโ€™s science

2018-12-12 12:12:48 UTC

Women are most fertile in early 20s for a reason

2018-12-12 12:13:09 UTC
2018-12-12 12:14:06 UTC

I personally think men should have their lives together before thinking about relationships instead of rushing into it

2018-12-12 12:14:20 UTC

So, what ever age that happens at is the right age

2018-12-12 12:15:47 UTC

They should, but...

2018-12-12 12:16:46 UTC

God theyโ€™re still after that guy in Strasbourg?

2018-12-12 12:16:58 UTC

โ€œLives togetherโ€ is subjective. One man can do a whole lot with his bare hands, while another only sees money as the important thing

2018-12-12 12:22:59 UTC

A lot of things are subjective

2018-12-12 12:23:12 UTC

Doesn't mean we shouldn't use our best judgement

2018-12-12 12:31:22 UTC

Oh, I thought you were broadly talking about all men when you said "men are getting into relationships too early." Didn't understand you meant only some men when they're ready ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

2018-12-12 12:38:11 UTC

....ya, they may as well just let their toddler decide what they want for dinner, too. I hope they're all stocked up on chocolate cupcakes and hot dogs.

@Sam Southern - TN Bibi Netanyahu is the Prime Minister of Israel. He is not an American politician.

Why would Mark Dice tweet that about him?

2018-12-12 17:33:09 UTC

Because he tweets and makes propaganda in a foreign language (English) to undermine our Republic

2018-12-12 17:33:30 UTC

Which part are you not following

2018-12-12 17:34:26 UTC

The part where he's trying to undermine our Republic. Outside of foreign aid I really don't see that for Bibi.

2018-12-12 17:34:45 UTC

America's failure would be catastrophic for Israel.

2018-12-12 17:34:46 UTC

ah yes, only just under 4 billion a year, barely a drop in the bucket

2018-12-12 17:35:27 UTC

not to mention sending our soldiers to die and get maimed/ptsd in territorial wars for israel

2018-12-12 17:35:33 UTC

Sure, it's an issue - but one that predates Netanyahu and expands much further into lobbying.

2018-12-12 17:35:53 UTC

you may not like it, but for an Israeli, Bibi is pretty reactionary.

2018-12-12 17:36:08 UTC

He's effectively an ethno-nationalist for his people.

2018-12-12 17:36:17 UTC

having us fight his wars is undermining our republic whether you call it that or not

2018-12-12 17:36:23 UTC

having us fund his nation is undermining our republic

2018-12-12 17:36:32 UTC

having his people steal our military tech undermines our republic

2018-12-12 17:36:39 UTC

he undermines our republic

2018-12-12 17:37:22 UTC

Well, I wasn't really looking to get into an argument here, but many of these issues far predate Netanyahu - I absolutely agree they are concerns - two things I'd note.

2018-12-12 17:37:55 UTC

a lot of these issues predate schumer

2018-12-12 17:38:04 UTC

doesn't prevent marky from tweeting about it without remonstrations

2018-12-12 17:38:15 UTC

that's not coherent to use as a point

2018-12-12 17:38:37 UTC

Oh, okay then.

2018-12-12 18:12:49 UTC

Israel simply takes advantage of the weak disposition that modern America already had, yes it's a bit immoral but how much can you really blame them? Particularly with their geopolitical position in the world, they have to rely on foreign powers for protection.

That being said, i'll admit that Israel has an absolutely terrible foreign policy when dealing with most countries.

2018-12-12 18:15:47 UTC

Lol im not blaming them. But if mark is going to call out people for tweeting in foreign languages for the sake of propaganda, then why not also call out bibi for the same? Besides the obvious that he wonโ€™t challenge that particular hegemony, thereโ€™s no reason not to attack Bibi for exactly what heโ€™s attacking Schumer for.

2018-12-12 18:17:55 UTC

Because the right hates Schumer. It's a feasible target and a winnable victory. Mark Dice can safely attack an American politician with some amount of gusto without being defamed, losing his platform accusations of Anti-Semitism... Not so for Bibi

2018-12-12 18:18:27 UTC

โ€œBesides the obvious that he wonโ€™t challenge that particular hegemonyโ€

2018-12-12 18:18:56 UTC

My only point was that bibi is doing the same as Schumer ffs

2018-12-12 18:22:17 UTC

Oh, I see.

2018-12-12 18:23:19 UTC

I don't really see it as the same though. Bibi is a foreign leader - securing as much power and capital for his nation is his job.

2018-12-12 18:23:40 UTC

Schumer should be representing his constituency and country. What Chuck is doing is worse.

2018-12-12 18:23:56 UTC

Israel is getting pretty cozy with China.

2018-12-12 18:24:23 UTC

Is bibi a foreign agent working to undermine the republic through the use of foreign language propaganda?

2018-12-12 18:24:38 UTC

If so, itโ€™s exactly what mark was calling out Schumer for.

"Is bibi a foreign agent working to undermine the republic through the use of foreign
language propaganda?"

No, he's trying to leverage it to his advantage. A weakened America would be disastrous for Israel.

2018-12-12 18:27:13 UTC

Regardless, I feel like we are splitting hairs here.

2018-12-12 18:27:36 UTC

We should try to remain pragmatic and focus on the possible and productive, instead of the unlikely unobtainable ideal.

2018-12-12 18:27:59 UTC

The jq is a very complex high iq subject. I'm not sure Mark Dice is equipped to handle subject matter like that. Furthermore what would he have to gain from talking about Israel, if anything it will cost him.

2018-12-12 18:28:07 UTC

Ah yes, itโ€™s definitely not undermining us to fund the Israeli nation, to have them steal our military technology, and to have our people die in wars for them.

2018-12-12 18:30:08 UTC

True enough, Sam.

2018-12-12 18:32:37 UTC

Israel is a constant baseline for the MIC as well.
