Like, the issue is as an American, I have AR, AK, Vz58, etc. I know one pouch wont "do it all" but a system can. So I was leaning towards smersh with AK mag pouches and have AS Val pouches as reserve pouches for AR use.

But if as val pouches wont work.... I guess I could just use regular OD m16 mag pouches on the smersh belt

I like both AK and AR. Both have merit. If in in the city or in the mountains through heavy brush, I like the AKs 7.62x39. It makes sense to me. Have to carry less ammo though. That's the benefit of the AR. Ammo is light as are mags. The whole platform is light for that matter. I'd use an ak74 but the 545 isnt imported in as much quantity as the 762x39. I have (well...my wife does, I gave it to her before engagement) a tantal ak74. I love it.

I've been doing this stuff for awhile. Carbine classes are ok, get basics down. Pistol classes really help if you cant shoot handgun, which to be fair, I've met lots of people who thought they can shoot pistol but just couldn't.

But one shepard offers something you literally cant get anywhere else. At a damn good price too.
