2018-09-29 18:47:42 UTC

those are 25 a piece so it takes a while

2018-09-29 21:13:26 UTC

For anyone wanting to convert to Catholicism, try to do it through an SSPX parish or even FSSP if you can

2018-09-29 21:14:52 UTC

you'll avoid lay-taught and modernist RCIA programs, and instead receive a much more orthodox theological and spiritual instruction by a trained priest

2018-09-29 21:16:02 UTC

Eh SSPX is....problematic....to put it very charitably but ill support FSSP parishes

2018-09-29 21:16:35 UTC

I'm from an FSSP parish, can definitely confirm this. My catechism is amazing.

2018-09-29 21:17:37 UTC

First ever sessions even went into the whole philosophy and aside from that you have to read like 1950 instructions. They make sure it's before V2

2018-09-29 21:22:24 UTC

What is SSPX and FSSP

2018-09-29 21:23:41 UTC

Super basic intro: SSPX split from Rome because they wanted to keep the Latin Mass and ordain their own bishops. FSSP split from SSPX because they wanted to keep the Latin mass but remain with rome

2018-09-29 21:24:49 UTC

i read some stuff earlier

2018-09-29 21:24:57 UTC

they are not really split in some sense

2018-09-29 21:25:02 UTC

but it is indeed complicate3d

2018-09-29 21:25:05 UTC

its not a schisiim

2018-09-29 21:25:11 UTC

or so some would say

2018-09-29 21:25:23 UTC

yeah I know, it's still better to stay away until it's settled imho

2018-09-29 21:25:25 UTC

both are great

2018-09-29 21:27:19 UTC

if u can only find novus ordo parishes and services this will suffice and if you have no other options dont not feel bad about going to them

2018-09-29 21:31:11 UTC

Full autismo version: the SSPX is a priestly society that was founded with the full approval of Rome by Archbishop Lefebvre, he did so to preserve the full integrity of the Catholic faith against the modernist forces of Vatican II. In the years following Rome tried to force them to accept modernism and perescuted them by pulling their ordinary jurisdiction when they refused. Since then they have continued to administer the sacraments under supplied jurisdiction

2018-09-29 21:32:15 UTC

Without the SSPX the traditional Latin Mass would be virtually non-existent today

2018-09-29 21:38:30 UTC

Eh. Benedict was a thing so thats probably not accurate

2018-09-29 21:39:41 UTC

In fact i think the separation of SSPX from ordinary parishes helped modernists cast aside the true Catholics instead of SSPX helping with returning normies to traditions

2018-09-29 21:41:45 UTC

Cowards ran when there was a fight. I have parisioners who returned from SSPX to FSSP parishes because they realized SSPXis infiltrated by sede cucks and leading many astray.

2018-09-29 21:42:43 UTC

I get the SSPX argument and canon law etc. But i think its just wrong. The church didnt schism during the Arian heresy. People stood and fought and were persecuted for the truth even when the popes and emporers were interfering.

2018-09-29 21:45:48 UTC

we may have a debate in the near future sedes vs non sedes on the daily braap

2018-09-29 21:46:24 UTC

this isn't a sede debate

2018-09-29 21:46:49 UTC

No sedes here

2018-09-29 21:47:50 UTC

The SSPX laity were just Catholics who refused to accept the novus ordo and doctrinal abiguities of VII

2018-09-29 21:48:08 UTC

But i want the blood of the martyrs to run the streets

2018-09-29 21:48:10 UTC

they couldn't exactly force diocesan parishes to continue the TLM

2018-09-29 21:48:22 UTC

I want to see excommunication of lefebvre

2018-09-29 21:48:27 UTC

So people wake up

2018-09-29 21:49:26 UTC

But instead he slinked away quietly and with a whisper not a bang. You get what im saying right?

2018-09-29 21:49:33 UTC

i meant we would have some discussion about this issue on the show

2018-09-29 21:49:39 UTC

the daily braap possibly next saturday

2018-09-29 21:50:06 UTC

with classical theist

2018-09-29 21:50:12 UTC

and maybe simon the sede

2018-09-29 21:50:22 UTC

but simon is no where near as educated as classical

2018-09-29 21:50:59 UTC

He was (falsely) excommunicated and he fought for the faith agressively when he was alive

2018-09-29 21:51:43 UTC

I'd watch, though theist is hard to listen too imho.

2018-09-29 21:52:09 UTC

His fight was well intended just on the wrong battlefield

2018-09-29 21:52:14 UTC

Is my point

2018-09-29 21:52:45 UTC

Anyone want to give their thoughts on the Borgias?

2018-09-29 21:52:47 UTC

Aka

2018-09-29 21:53:00 UTC

yeah but if theist is with other people

2018-09-29 21:53:04 UTC

he will be way more bearable

2018-09-29 21:53:11 UTC

he will be with me and others

2018-09-29 21:53:13 UTC

Pope Alexander VI

2018-09-29 21:53:29 UTC

i read lefabrve wasnt actually excommunicated

2018-09-29 21:54:32 UTC

he wasn't validly, because the reason was ridiculous and uncanonical

2018-09-29 21:55:33 UTC

Again the primary reason he founded the SSPX was to continue administering the Mass and sacraments to the faithful under the traditional pre-VII form, which would have been impossible any other way

2018-09-29 21:55:47 UTC

faithful laity who were in a spiritual crisis without that

2018-09-29 21:59:10 UTC

ok serious quesytion how am i supposed to celebrate all these amazing feast days

2018-09-29 21:59:22 UTC

FSSPers wouldn't have their fssp and summorum pontificum if he hadn't done it

2018-09-29 21:59:40 UTC

probably true

2018-09-29 22:01:19 UTC

If you have a 1962 missal it has dedicated prayers for all of the feast days

2018-09-29 22:01:24 UTC

True, it's more about the future now. FSSP is growing whilst the SSPX situation seems to only be done right by a conservative pope. Kinda waiting for that so things get cleared up. I just don't want people to fall for sedes.

2018-09-29 22:02:11 UTC

Not saying SSPX is sede to clarfiy. But even in my parish voices are heard. We have to be careful.

2018-09-29 22:04:16 UTC

true but the sspx is anti-sede too

2018-09-29 22:06:36 UTC

^^

2018-09-29 22:06:41 UTC

yeah dont have that

2018-09-29 22:06:45 UTC

a missal

2018-09-29 22:10:11 UTC

Just because we dont know what wouldve happened doesnt mean lefebvre and others made the best decision for the future of the church

2018-09-29 22:12:23 UTC

We dont know what a little more laity and a little more clergy would have done to support Benedict. But instead his allies chastised him and seperated themselves as SSPX. Its possible that the St Gallen Mafia would have been defeated for good. But now we have a Francis Pontificate. And i think it vouod have been avoided if more Faithful remained to support her Papa Emeritus in the fight against modernism

2018-09-29 22:17:29 UTC

But we will never know either way UNLESS i see "significant" numbers indicating SSPX priests or faithful slowly returning to the church. Due to whatever. Then i would cacnonize lefebvre lol

2018-09-29 22:20:11 UTC

Ratzinger/Benedict was a slightly less liberal modernist, and regardless Iโ€™ve been talking about the 1970s in the immediate wake of VII.

2018-09-29 22:22:32 UTC

We're talking about a time when high altars and altar rails were being physically torn out of churches, and clown masses/'new sacraments' being forced on the laity

2018-09-29 22:24:20 UTC

Then this is just a misunderstanding lmao. There is indeed a big difference between then and now. My own archbishop removed the table himself as sign of what is to come.

2018-09-29 22:25:49 UTC

It really is a misunderstanding

2018-09-29 22:26:47 UTC

Yeah man them clown masses were real af

2018-09-29 22:27:07 UTC

2018-09-29 22:59:51 UTC

id like to hear some takes as well

2018-09-29 23:24:48 UTC

I'm watching the Borgias

2018-09-29 23:25:04 UTC

On Netflix

2018-09-29 23:25:06 UTC

And so far

2018-09-29 23:25:10 UTC

It's a great show

2018-09-29 23:51:32 UTC

its a good show but its hollywoods takes ]

2018-09-29 23:53:16 UTC

its scandalous and does not give one custody of the senses

2018-09-30 03:34:04 UTC

All SSPX priests now are ordained under the authority of Rome, and they even organize the mass at the Vatican occasionally. I dont see how it could be seen as problematic

2018-09-30 03:36:26 UTC

Maybe under the assumption of heresy against the church during the time lefebvre was excommunicated because all the people he ordained were considered invalid but its way different now.

2018-09-30 13:06:43 UTC

^^I think the SSPX are for the most part fine rn, I'd personally rather go to FSSP mass if I can but it's sacraments aren't illicit anymore I don't think

2018-09-30 19:52:33 UTC

@jabbatheshlut Thanks for the book recommendation yesterday my dude, Answered so many questions I didn't know I even had

2018-09-30 19:53:03 UTC

2018-10-01 16:56:38 UTC

@cryโ˜งโ˜ฉicKiwi isnt it crazy how he starts off the "it is finished"...understanding 1st centure hebrew culture and expressions gives true context to the scriptures...i also like his take on the Gospel of John and how its sort of out of place as its not "synoptic" but its rather meant to explain throughout its entirety that Christ is our Passover. Beautiful.

2018-10-01 16:58:15 UTC

Yeah, I really feel like it made my understanding of the life of Christ as a whole so much more complete

2018-10-01 16:58:48 UTC

I'd always just assumed "it" was just his time on earth originally

2018-10-01 16:59:55 UTC

Did you finish the whole thing?

2018-10-01 17:02:27 UTC

Yeah

2018-10-01 17:02:44 UTC

Listened to it over the past two days while studying

Dank. Yeah glad you took the recommendation.

O and the description of how the jews would roast the lamb. And the visual that gave

2018-10-01 17:10:38 UTC

I think the book as a whole highlights why you can't just remove all "human tradition" and sacraments from religion in the way Calvin tried to do. Even if you ignore the fact that the Eucharist is the new covenant, the fact that all this information (The reverence towards cups that were used to carry the blood of christ, the opinions of the desert fathers etc) was either ignored or forgotten about by the Reformed churches shows the need for a great deal of attention to be given to the early church and its founding.

2018-10-01 17:11:16 UTC

I unironically feel similar to King Josiah after hearing about the correct ancient religious scrolls at this point

2018-10-01 17:18:29 UTC

2018-10-03 07:59:12 UTC

cultural christianity is like having the teacher give u homework and tell you that its a good idea to do your homework, but then doesnt check at the start of the class if you've actually done your homework

2018-10-03 08:08:42 UTC

Yes but cultural christainism is more pragmatic bc of that

2018-10-03 08:09:10 UTC

????

2018-10-03 08:09:16 UTC

there is no authority behind it

2018-10-03 08:09:54 UTC

if you dont believe there arent any consequences to not living up to christian teachings

2018-10-03 08:12:16 UTC

It influences political change and social change. Theres no authority itw more a binding of Christian values.

Influence is more important than punishment.

4. Dab on them from heaven
