Skyrim was bugging out on me and was crashing on loading saves so I decided to do a clean install.
And.... as you'd expect a lot of files and folders in the Skyrim SE directory were glitched like I described.
well, that's just Skyrim. Plus Skyrim SE is just as poorly coded of a mess as the OG.
Well that only explains the crashing.
Not the files and folders being locked out.
That's Windows 10.
true
I know it was just one mod causing the problem. One out of several dozen.
But I couldn't figure out which one it was.
Your best bet is most likely just buying a Windows 7 key and going back.
Easier to just wipe it and start over.
OH, Windows 7. Maybe.
just to eliminate the problem entirely
But I'd need a new external drive to store everything in the meantime.
heyy
Hmm. Maybe just try and move all your important files to your storage drive and just wipe the boot drive
i havent had many problems with windows 10 but iis bs how they make some people upgrade with no chice
I got this computer for $1000 and there weren't really any that fit what I wanted that was around that price that was Windows 7 instead of 10 and going to the trouble to downgrade wasn't a priority.
Honestly Windows 10 isn't the pure disaster that Vista was. It's actually really improved in a lot of ways. The big problems is that the security seems to be buggier (pretty sure that is what's causing this), and of course the spying, as well as the forced updates.
as soon as Vulkan takes over and Linux becomes a viable gaming platform, I'm ditching Windows entirely
Ugh, don't remind me of Vista
Keeping up to date is important but forcing them on people is the worst idea in the sad, sorry history of bad ideas.
yeha
The driver disaster as a case in point.
Driver disaster?
Forced driver updates early on in Windows 10 broke just about every game.
Because bad driver updates happen all the time. Normally they're fixed before most people got them. But with forced updates everyone got them and their games broke.
This is why I'm still with Windows 7. Screw that noise.
It was so bad that they had no choice but to disable forced driver updates.
The 1050ti is a pretty decent upgrade over the 360, as far as I'm aware, yes.
yeah 1 time last year i updated my pc only to find all audio was disabled
i only have 4 gigs of ram though
Just get another 4gbs then. It's not expensive
wait lemme give u my full specs
4 gigs really isn't enough these days.
it's able to get you by, JUST barely, but it isn't enough
ill get an extra 4 gigs and if i still want more power il buy that card
8 GB usually is enough so long as you don't have a web browser and a game open at the same time. 16 is more than enough for most purposes. You only need 32 if you're really die hard with multi-tasking. No one program is going to use that much.
Mulitasking, heavy video editing etc. Power user type stuff
Not something the average user is going to need. And if you do need it, you're probably the one giving the computer advice, not asking for it.
Most likely.
I have 16gb and even THAT sometimes doesn't feel like quite enough at times
o wait
Video editing is the most basic thing I can think of that would make use of it.
i have 8 gigs of ram lol
Or using Chrome
Chrome uses so much RAM because almost every tab is its own process.
I know XD
This actually makes Chrome much more stable than other browsers. The high RAM use is the tradeoff.
Ture, true. Still kind of a hassle to get around
i have an i5 @ 2.7 GHz thats good for gaming right?
Depends on the i5. But generally, an i5 does well for gaming tasks
No matter the i5
For me, Chrome is worth it for one feature alone. The sandbox. In computer security terms, a sandbox is the process of a program cutting itself off from the rest of your computer and blocking all entry and exit from this sandbox requiring your express consent to save anything outside of it.
That means it's considerably harder to get a virus on Chrome than it is on other browers. Not impossible, but far less likely. But it won't protect you from being a moron and agreeing to download something that's obviously suspect.
I just think if you're able to get a virus at all through general web browsing, you don't know how to internet.
Keep in mind how many people fall into that category.
so wait if i already have 8 gb ram i should go for the gpu?
Hmm, I guess so
Go for the gpu, yes
ok thanks
The GPU usually is your limiting factor.
When you fail to meet a game's specs, GPU usually will be the offender.
my current computer can barely run ark
Neither can mine. ARK is just a mess when it comes to optimisation
but can run overwatch on high settings fine
I haven't had any trouble with the games I've tried.
The main problem I've had is that my hard drive seems to be considerably slower than it should be.
will i be able to run gta 5 with my current build?
It hits 100% disk use very easily and usually the OS itself takes that up.
Could be the RPM isn't high enough
It's 7200.
Hmm
Yes, you'll be able run GTAV. Not maxed, but it'll work
my one freind got 4 terra bites
im like why the fuck
hes barely used 1 tb
I only have my 1tb and my 120gb ssd for Windows. I only have about 300gb left of the 1tb XD
i have 2 tb
Core i7 6700HQ
16GB RAM
GTX 960m
2 GB VRAM
Laptops. Heh.
I didn't have room for a desktop.
Sorry XD I just like making fun of gaming laptops
im cunfused my computer syas theres a sd card plugged in to my pc but i cant find it
I'd have rather had a desktop but there just absolutely was no where to put one.
One day, one day
no desk?
No room for a desk.
Do you have a spot for a TV?
The TV is there. It's the only spot it would fit. And it's not a good spot for desktop
Hmm. That's a problem o.o
I already went through all the possiblities. The only spot a desktop desk could fit is in a horrible location that gets a lot of sunlight.
Right now there's a table and my trash bins there.
ikea overhaul would probably sound wonderful
A dining table.
My SD card slot is placed in bottom of my laptop. The front edge is curved inward and the SD slot is at the bottom of that curve. And it's blocked by my laptop stand.
And it's very hard to get a card out of it because of the shape.
s my d
Better to just use a USB card reader.
