The issue I think most people have is that the definition of abusing alcohol varies so radically that for one person drinking every other day is abuse, for the other drinking 4 times a day is abuse.

You have a big family gathering and each takes a shot to show trust between each other. The biggest issue is when you start drinking alone, and for no reason. Thats the moment it becomes abuse or when you start looking for excuses to have that ritual daily. Generally drinking veyr little, once a week would not be abuse, medically and i guess morally.
