Yeah, I saw some research where they found brain structures that matched the opposite gender in transgender individuals
It could easily be a solid reason for it. At least at the moment until it is looked into more.
Part of the issue is that most evidence suggest that whether you conform the body to the brain or the brain to the body, the end results are generally the same: severe depression and mental health issues surrounding such depression, such as self harm and suicidal thoughts.

There is no debate in my opinion. You are either a boy or a girl. You have certain parts that classify you as a boy or girl. Anyone that decides they are not the gender they have the parts for, have a mental problem called gender dysphoria. Anyone around them or in the media and news and entertainment or education system who says otherwise are only serving to hurt the people with the mental problem.
