This morning I just had a Bullshit loss. I was retaliating against a previous invader but I was peacefully ghosting his support platform. With a 10 minute timer, I managed to sneak all the way past his little custom camera/mine blockade and without a caution alert made it to the last platform. I quickly sleep gassed the guards in my path to the basement stairs, destroyed a UAV, made sure that the basement was clear before destroying the final camera, and then as I am sprinting across the basement with 1 minute left I GET SPOTTED THROUGH A WALL BY A GUARD UPSTAIRS BY THE BRIDGE. Then, to add insult to injury, the Defender spawns in at about 30 Seconds left, and I have only a ghosting loadout to fight and simply get CQC'd and Fultoned by the Defender. This was all bullshit because I was otherwise going to win the core if not for random guard with X-Ray vision. Then proceeded to be embarrassed.

I recall it not getting great reception till a couple years after release. (most critiques were fixed with the Subsistence release.)

"95% of MGSV is filler," bullet sponge bosses, dull, repetetive missions, basically 3 unique side ops, "unique" side ops could easily have been fixed up to turn them into full story missions but instead remained half empty side ops, most of the soundtrack is just licensed tracks, a very lackluster story that does nothing for the series excepts retreads previous ideas/stories but edited *slightly*, most of the characters got incredibly weak progression, Afghanistan and Africa feel really empty and boring to adventure in, 70% of the animals don't even have models and have to be caught in traps when MGS3 literally had models for every animal EXCEPT THE TSUCHINOKO (which I'm willing to accept for V even though it shouldn't have even been in it, like it shouldn't have been in PW), *the truck ride with Skull Face* (and Skull Face in general but that falls under character progression), difficulty remains pretty stagnant after like Mission 20 or below, Venom has next to no dialogue (though that could also go under character progression), some of the best cutscenes shown in the trailers were *exclusively for the trailers*, no real reason to toy with the large variety of weaponry that we get as there are like 3 OP weapons that make it pointless to even bother outside personal limitations, mother base is incredibly dull and empty (outside of the Paz stuff) despite the many soldiers travelling around the place and it's a massive downgrade from the very lively mother base shown off in early E3 or PAX or TGS or whatever it was footage, the bridges between platforms are way too fucking long, helicopter ride in and out (including helicopter arrival time) is way too fucking long, the story is literally unfinished due to the removal of Kingdom of the Flies

The Tsuchinoko point and the Soundtrack I have to disagree on. Mostly about the Tsuchinoko.

MGS is a clusterfuck of easter eggs, so the Tsuchinoko fit in with that. In fact, I feel like a lack of easter eggs is a problem with MGSV. You could say that including the Tsuchinoko is one of the more important choices, almost as important as including a cardboard box or the important choice of including Gako and Kero in MGO3 (which they fucked up BIG TIME by not including.)

As for the soundtrack, the licennsed tracks help with the 80's atmosphere (even if some songs are 90's, they were still picked for the "feeling" they had.)

The "bosses" if you can call them that are pretty similar to MGS3

Soundtrack I have to respectfully disagree with. I feel like that's a very lazy cop-out. A Phantom Pain is an amazing track that perfectly captures that vibe you're describing and not only was it left unused, simply as a cassette tape, but it was the only one that really took advantage of the setting and style and showed they were capable of making more.

The bosses thing I also have to greatly disagree with. Each boss in MGS3, with some exceptions, had very unique approaches to them and how they were handled. The Pain would fall under the exception where it's just fall in the water to dodge and then shoot, but even then you still have to handle the bees on him to make him vulnerable. It's not so different from the stone Skulls, but it's at least a major step up because there's at least some creativity going on there.

I doubt so, the tone is set into a zombie co-op survival... for all we know the game might not even include single player, nor a proper story...

That point may also be subjective, but in the same way someone's enjoyability of Sonic 06 is subjective. Objectively it's a very poorly directed scene, clearly based off the truck ride in GZ that showed exactly how it SHOULD be done.

The same thing would apply to ANY MGS villain's speech. If you took Volgin's big speech at the end of MGS3 and simply showed Snake and him just standing there the whole time it would be awful. Same goes for The Boss' speech after.
