I used to do 1-2 hours of cardio after a 1-2 hour workout, 3 days a week 52 weeks a year. As long as I did it back to back its not a big deal, as the amount you strain your muscles isn't important as long as you eat well and have adequate healing time

2017-03-15 18:18:24 UTC

@Zorost how much did you deadlift

2017-03-15 18:18:30 UTC

Yes, running down hill is very bad for your knees

2017-03-15 18:18:32 UTC

No idea

2017-03-15 18:18:35 UTC

mmm

2017-03-15 18:18:40 UTC

so you weren't strength training?

2017-03-15 18:18:59 UTC

I know how many plates I had on, and put htat many plates on until I felt I could put more plates on

2017-03-15 18:19:05 UTC

I don't lift to impress other men with numbers

2017-03-15 18:19:14 UTC

how many plates did you have on

2017-03-15 18:19:35 UTC

2834973982

2017-03-15 18:19:52 UTC

My favorite Youtuber does my PR for his thrid from last warm up set when he deadlifts

2017-03-15 18:20:04 UTC

@Caerulus_Rex yeah steroids exist I know

2017-03-15 18:20:06 UTC

but you have to admit

2017-03-15 18:20:09 UTC

I could do 30 pullups while weighing about 270, and play a half of rugby as a prop w/o having a heart attack

2017-03-15 18:20:15 UTC

that telling a total lifting novice that he should run and also lift

2017-03-15 18:20:17 UTC

is bad advice

2017-03-15 18:20:23 UTC

he should focus on one

2017-03-15 18:20:27 UTC

and not put himself in jeapordy

2017-03-15 18:20:30 UTC

or howevery ou spell it

2017-03-15 18:21:11 UTC

Depends on what his goals are

2017-03-15 18:21:17 UTC

under the supervision of a strength and conditioning coach that knows what he is doing, or if you have enough agency to read books yourself, a novice can both lift and run

2017-03-15 18:21:45 UTC

In Afghanistan I did all of the following simultaneously:

2017-03-15 18:21:46 UTC

well Slug is lifting by himself

2017-03-15 18:21:52 UTC

Do hard stuff, your body hardens to adapt to it.

2017-03-15 18:21:56 UTC

and again, we are talking about a novice

2017-03-15 18:22:00 UTC

I dont care how awesome you are

2017-03-15 18:22:01 UTC

Increased my Squat, Dead Lift and Press PRs

2017-03-15 18:22:10 UTC

if slug gets injured he will never be able to lift to his max ever in his entire life

2017-03-15 18:22:12 UTC

Reduced my body fat %

2017-03-15 18:22:15 UTC

holy shit

2017-03-15 18:22:16 UTC

Reduced my 40 time

2017-03-15 18:22:22 UTC

lol

2017-03-15 18:22:30 UTC

I dont care
don't tell slug he can do backflips 10x10 before doing deadlift PR

2017-03-15 18:22:32 UTC

it's dangerous

2017-03-15 18:22:56 UTC

The only person I know of that has a longer list of sports injuries than me is professional wrestler mick foley

2017-03-15 18:23:13 UTC

he should juggle chainsaws while lifting. Or google this shit himself rather than depend on a bunch of dumbasses on the interest

2017-03-15 18:23:45 UTC

I added to my squat PR the other day, 3 months after my knee being so fucked up I couldn't squat 95 lbs without intolerable pain

2017-03-15 18:23:46 UTC

@Caerulus_Rex then why are you giving advice if you have destroyed your body

2017-03-15 18:24:08 UTC

think of how much stronger you might have been if you hadnt injured yourself

2017-03-15 18:24:08 UTC

Because I destroyed my body playing rugby and being a professional gun fighter

2017-03-15 18:24:11 UTC

I'm sure you're stronger than me

2017-03-15 18:24:14 UTC

I'm certain you're awesome

2017-03-15 18:24:19 UTC

but learn from your mistakes

2017-03-15 18:24:21 UTC

and tell Slug good advice

2017-03-15 18:24:23 UTC

pain is weakness leaving the body

2017-03-15 18:24:26 UTC

I didn't destroy my body in the gym

2017-03-15 18:24:27 UTC

and not the shit you did that injured yourself

2017-03-15 18:24:36 UTC

@Zorost not if you rip your ACL it isnt

2017-03-15 18:24:47 UTC

I destroyed it on SEC Rugby pitches, Iraq, and Afghanistan

2017-03-15 18:24:51 UTC

I'm amazed

2017-03-15 18:24:53 UTC

im so impressed

2017-03-15 18:24:58 UTC

i wish you could see the admiration on my face

2017-03-15 18:25:02 UTC

we are giving advice to slug

2017-03-15 18:25:14 UTC

don't tell him to run downhill every single day for hours

2017-03-15 18:25:16 UTC

it's bad advice

2017-03-15 18:25:18 UTC

The shit I did in the gym is probably the only reason it's not fucked up even worse from those things

2017-03-15 18:25:19 UTC

it hurts his knees

2017-03-15 18:25:26 UTC

best advice: look it up yourself, don't ask some guy on the internet to ask some other guys on the internet

2017-03-15 18:25:33 UTC

Don't run down hill

2017-03-15 18:25:34 UTC

@Zorost very true

2017-03-15 18:25:45 UTC

@Caerulus_Rex you literally told him to run down hill until I told you it was stupid

2017-03-15 18:26:02 UTC

At no point did I endorse running down hill

2017-03-15 18:26:07 UTC

maybe rex lives on top of a mountain, and has to run downhill a lot

2017-03-15 18:26:26 UTC

I said you were wrong immediately after you said you cant lose weight and get stronger at the same time

2017-03-15 18:26:35 UTC

I have never endorsed running down hill

2017-03-15 18:26:38 UTC

I used to sprint up stairs to build explosiveness, but also jogged slowly down.

2017-03-15 18:26:43 UTC

I can barely walk down hill

2017-03-15 18:26:45 UTC

@Caerulus_Rex you told him to run bleachers

2017-03-15 18:26:49 UTC

which is running downhill

2017-03-15 18:26:50 UTC

you ponce

2017-03-15 18:26:54 UTC

only 1/2 the time

2017-03-15 18:26:59 UTC

holy shit

2017-03-15 18:27:10 UTC

maybe if you tack side to side like a sailing ship

2017-03-15 18:27:56 UTC

another pro-tip: bust a nut every day to keep your T levels up

2017-03-15 18:27:58 UTC

lol

2017-03-15 18:28:03 UTC

alright
I admit
it is theoretically possible to gain weight while doing cardio

but it is also theoretically possible to achieve flight using a plane powered entirely by slugs running in a hampster wheel

2017-03-15 18:28:06 UTC

it is possible

2017-03-15 18:28:10 UTC

but it's retarded and you shouldn't try it

2017-03-15 18:28:20 UTC

but switch hands or you risk destroying your symmetry

2017-03-15 18:29:03 UTC

You're a fucking 21 year old engineering PhD student and you have so little common sense you have to be explicitly told that you're only supposed to run when you're going up the bleachers?

2017-03-15 18:29:30 UTC

is he also asian? Cuz that would make sense

2017-03-15 18:29:32 UTC

if he uses the stairmaster it's 100% running upstairs with no breaks and no chance of falling down

2017-03-15 18:29:43 UTC

if I was exhausted and walked down stairs I know I'd twist an ankle

2017-03-15 18:29:46 UTC

is some chance of falling down

2017-03-15 18:29:54 UTC

Wtf, 4chan has pop up ads now

2017-03-15 18:30:04 UTC

2017-03-15 18:30:10 UTC

especially if an asian PhD student with no common sense

2017-03-15 18:30:24 UTC

You jog over to the stairs and walk back down to the bottom.

2017-03-15 18:31:04 UTC

There, you have been explicitly told how running bleachers works

2017-03-15 18:31:16 UTC

Actually, thats probably inadequate

2017-03-15 18:31:29 UTC

I quit doing 5x5 today after doing it for 4 years because I was afraid of injuring my joints
I switched to a lower weight 8x5 because it's not as much tension and it wil strengthen my ligaments

2017-03-15 18:31:36 UTC

I intend to lift for another 25 years or more

2017-03-15 18:31:39 UTC

I am playing the long game

2017-03-15 18:31:39 UTC

don't forget to turn around when you reach the top, so you don't walk backwards down the steps

2017-03-15 18:31:43 UTC

which I encourage slug to do too

2017-03-15 18:31:50 UTC

injuring yourself will destroy your ultimate strength

2017-03-15 18:32:02 UTC

he should mitigate risk

2017-03-15 18:32:09 UTC

We can agree on that. Avoiding injury should be #1. Don't fuck around with joints

2017-03-15 18:32:14 UTC

And also, don't forget to use the hand rail

2017-03-15 18:32:17 UTC

and avoid walking down concrete spikes while exhausted
