i bought a house off the plan in edenvale. true to builders behaviour it took two years to build instead of 6. so one morning in my new kitchen, i have a coffee and see a chinese guy on my lawn pacing out steps on my small lawn. i go outside since i do not like when someone intrudes in my space and asked the guy what he is doing. he looked at me and kept pacing out his steps. i started getting annoyed, wanted to "move" him off my lawn and he left without saying a word. next week i hear he is the chinese developer. they did not manage to fit in the last unit in the complex and he was pacing out to see how he was going to fit in the unit (over my lawn) .... i sold the house 6 months later since we moved, but yes they actually decreased the lawn to fit in the unit and the municipality approved it. this was 2003. i knew then something is coming and it pains me to see how it is unfolding in africa. we could have done something, but having a new bmw from bribes is more important.
