Is there a demand for a secondary chat more secure than this? There are options, they're just less convenient than discord.

Threema is widely used. We in the Seattle BC use it as our primary communication tool but it's pretty much a mobile only option.

Mobile anything is not secure

Threema is encrypted, the keys are generated on the device. It's not perfect but it's one of the best options.

After doing some cursory research Threema looks to be a decent option. I would rate it probably lower than protonmail but higher than Twitter and Discord. Tbh, there's no real reason to use it over Discord unless we get to the point that we believe our group is being specifically monitored or something, since all *sensitive* communications can be relegated to ProtonMail.

I'm not happy that Threema's desktop options are very limited but Discord is good enough.

The one Tox client for Android I tried sucked but given it's early stage in development I couldn't blame it.

No need for tox if you're using a mobile device. The hardware is compromised. Doesn't matter how secure the app is.

maybe if you're incredibly autistic and can source the right parts you can build a secure mobile device, but they are not very accessible and I don't expect many here to own a device like that
