don't watch episode 8, and 9 will come out in 2 years
i watched ep7 in Hilversum... that Cinema was well worth the drive
7 was pretty s-well, if you ignore its literally a remake of ep4
8 is just.... no
the only reason i did not walk out of the "8th" basically directly after the text scroll is because of the name on the poster.
would have saved me a lot of wasted time
yes
that hold my call bit was the most unfunny, disbelief-destroying scene in any movie i have ever seen.
I lost interest after Episode 6.
However, I'll listen to Tim "nerd out" about the series whenever he wants to, lol.
you mean ep6 or ep3?
Oops, Episode 3.
I saw six of them, and that was enough. ๐
so... you saw 3 good ones ๐
thats what he said didn't he? ๐ after episode 6
i love it when i read "people hated empire strikes back when it came out" in defense of ep8 and try to make the point ep8 will be seen as a masterpiece in 20 years... no it will not... no one would even remember the movie in 20 years if it wasn't for the name they slapped on it.
I know, I get that a lot too and I'm so sick of it.
Actually, it was the other way around, wasn't it? The critics hated 5, but the people that watched it loved it, if I recall.
And critics hating on a popular movie? Color me surprised.
esb has a coherent plot and characters in it. both are missing in tlj
the argument they make is that the audience hated esb too but yeah... probably was the critics
and critics are... well... i would not say idiots... but if you listen to them you are probably an idiot ๐
Are 4-6 the good ones?
If I had to pick a trilogy to rewatch, I'd go with the original.
episode 4-6 are the good ones... so the original trilogy
in my opinion thy should have made episode 10-12 before 7-9 ๐
No love for 7-9 then?
you know what really annoys me about the last jedi? this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8ksEz8Qq1k
it was close, imo, to be decent enough to get an okay in my book. so close.
7 was okay... 8... not...
and 9 is not out yet, but i'm not gonna watch that so... no love for them no ๐
Rey needs to get her ass handed to her for once. and not just suddenly be good at any force ability when she feels like it.
she needs to be offed in the first five minutes of the movie... along with every other "character" introduced in 7 & 8 ๐
Is there supposed to be an actual 10-12 trilogy at some point?
not announced but if they did not completely kill the franchise with 8 it will come
I'm growing weary of prequels, sequels and remakes. ๐
i'm growing weary of bad movies with an established name to sell them
that is one viewer with a LOT to say
@ping Yes i did see it.
This headline is a good example of why only reading the headline is a bad idea.
@Dr.Wol When I clicked on the video, there were "no views," and it had been published for around half an hour.
@RyeNorth I mean, it is literally what they did, lmao.
This article just made me a 12 year old again. -_-
Lmao
Sorry, that just reminded me of this.
Race Realism 101.
someone earlier said the last jedi was so close to being ok. its kinda like how if i shot myself perfectly in the center of my forhead id be so close to solving all my problems, so close.
@Arch-Fiend i linked a video which pretty well explains why.
its the only starwars movie ive ever hated, so i think its a bit worse than "just misses the mark"
it actually makes me think less of the earlier film, NO movie has ever done that before
not necessarily. sometimes just a change of context can flip a scene and motif 180.
sometimes you can see a bad sequal but it doesent harm the predicesser much, this is not the case
and the video had 12 of those instances so thats only a few changes but a massive shift in overall story
first one being instead of luke just straight up trying to murder kylo, he instead saw snoke much in the same way he sees kylo when rey is with him, and that is what he is reacting to when he activates his lightsaber. So then kylo actually isn't right that luke was about to kill him.
that helps, so another change is completely changing lukes entire character too right? like making him not the worst character in starwars history?
here, watch the video, see if you think these changes would be enough to make it serviceable https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8ksEz8Qq1k
nah its fine, i know what needed to be done to make that movie better, i think anyone with a brain does
so im sure its good but unfortunately i just dont want to give it any of my time
fair enough
but i think those are small enough that they could go back and reshoot them for not a lot of money, and the pull a Lucas and release a "remastered" version with the changes
the last jedi has zero redeeming qualities. the story makes no sense, the characters boring, uninteresting, unlikeable and stupid (in the sense of... dumb... not intelligent... just... stupid), the "jokes" destroy any suspension of disbelief and the combination of all those things made absolutely sure that i will not spend any money on seeing episode 9.
And then Disney finds new and uninteresting ways to make it even worse https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9OXqzLvYJM
So in short: she leeched all of Kylo's training and powers from him because of mind bridge thingy.
So, shortcut to power, because we can't actually have any real development take place or have her character go through any real hardships now, can we?
Just when you think they can't possibly make this situation with Star Wars any worse and dig this hole any deeper, somehow a Disney employee manages to find a shovel.
It could have been so easy to insert a scene where she's looking into Kylo's mind and seeing his memories of being a Padawan and training at the temple. Being able to see the new order in it's beginnings, the potential, the hope, and then then we as an audience could learn and decide on the truth of Kylo and Luke's relationship leading up to the attempted murder
But noooooooooo...We get shitty authority figures and casinos
*And an entire subplot that didn't need to even exist.*
In fact, scratch that.
The entire **movie** doesn't need to exist.
Disney decended to follow EAs business model. Buy an existing IP, quickly release substandard product and rack in as much fanboy money as possible, then kill off the IP so it doesn't need to worry about it anymore.
I knew Disney would run Star Wars into the ground, but I didn't think they'd do it within the span of a single trilogy.
Especially given how overall pretty good the Marvel movies tend to be.
With some exception.
If anything, I thought they'd just do what they do with Marvel movies, only it's in a Star Wars skin.
My prediction was that 7-9 would be pretty good, with 9 probably being weak, and then things would start going downhill by Episode 11.
However, while a bit predictable, I didn't think rogue one was all that bad. Don't get me wrong, not short on room to improve, but not terrible
But then Disney was like "hold my beer."
I would like to have seen the pre-reshoot version of Rogue One.
Something tells me that was going to be much more interesting.
What was their excuse for the reshoots? It was 'too dark' for the casual audience?
Not sure how much darker you can get than "everyone dies."
The solo movie has been more or less written off but I'm still curious what it looks like.
Oh yeah, I have *zero* hope for the Solo movie.
We shall see. If it's like everything else, then no surprise. If, by some miracle, it stays about 7 and 8 in the vague area of rogue one, then there might be some life left in the EU, even if the main story is tanked.
I kind of went on a bit of a tyraid on another discord after hearing that they removed the guns/blasters off of the international movie posters.
Probably an overreaction, but for some reason it really set me off. lol
Because it just reminded me of the whole ET walkie-talkie thing.
This is a problem I first really started to notice in halo when 4 came out. If a series is wrapped up with a decent enough ending, the it's best to expand the IP sideways and or back in time. Leaving anything happening after the wrap up event for things like books which usually fair better than visual mediums.
Particularly in series that span at least 3 installments.
Yeah, or jump forward, but even then if you jump forward enough it is practically a side story.
Usually by that time you have so much material that is just sitting around the edges you can just start picking up random pieces and spawning their own story lines and SubIPs.
I really miss Halo, but I don't like what it's become.
I really hope, if halo survives 6, which to be fair, while not great, the story isn't horrible. But they've had to do some serious leg work in the books to make that happen, but I hope they start expanding outwards.
Like there is some much in the halo lore that they could use.
It doesn't need to be a "halo" game in the game play sense.
Halo wars has been good, I personally loved ODST.
A GTA or LA Noire style halo might be interesting
ODST was one of my favorite games.
I just had to coach a kid through a damned middle school lesson.
Some kid up in New York, 8th grade, English - Language Arts.
He's been asked to write an essay on 'Privilege'.
Accompanying worksheet:
```Aim; To explore the idea of adversity through the lens of identity and race
Do Now: Add to your vocab list:
Meritocracy: A society/system where people are rewarded based on hard work and achievement.
Merit: Quality or action that deserves reward (or punishment)
What is/are the differences between between Privilege and Merit?
One is earned (merit).
What is it that makes talking about race difficult for white people?
How is racism a โsystemโ and not a scientific quality?
What are your thoughts on the 3rd grade teacher and her students questions?
How has being white shaped the sense of identity for many of these people?
What does it mean to be โcolorblindโ? How do you feel about it?
What is the privilege that comes with being white?```
This video was accompanying the lesson, and referenced in the questions: The 3rd grade teacher, Sense of Identity, and 'Colorblind'.
This lesson is absolute indoctrination, straight up. IN AN ENGLISH CLASS.
sad truth is that the kid is also gonna be in trouble if he doesn't write an anti-white essay
he can't just write "the concept of privilege is used in a modern racist society to ignore the basic merit a person possesses" in there
so this is those tech bros they always talk about?
@RyeNorth should have just told him to write "all whites deserve death" and see what he got for a grade later.
I would have told him privilege is a racist concept used to keep white people from defending themselves or having an opinion.
but, you see, my approach wouldn't get him murdered by the lynch mob
that's a good one liner
"How has being white shaped the sense of identity for many of these people?"
I thought white people didn't have an identity, or that they were not allowed to have one?
Except, you know... when talking about privilege, *then* white people exist...
โWhite peopleโ ๐ tell a french guy that he is just the same as a brit or a german...
Tell a muslim terrorist the difference.
Tell a black south African out to 'kill the white farmer' the difference.
Tell a muslim terrorist the difference between a black guy and a white guy
they are all non-believers
Are you really going to sit there and tell me that other racial identitarians, who see themselves as <race> first, aren't going to see white people as one giant monolith?
That they care about the difference between a Canadian and an American? A French and a German?
Besides, if anything, that's just proving my point further. The conversation inevitably goes to "what is a white person, anyway?", when talking about their status when in comparison to that of minorities.
Yet the moment the left looks for a scapegoat, and wants someone to blame, and wants to point the finger at someone, they have no problems identifying white people then.
and that inability to tell the difference is what makes them anti semitic
well, who do the alt right and alt left love to hate because they have developed a culture that generally seems to lead to success? A certain group of rich white men who can trace their heritage back to a certain country Muslim hate more than American and their own people.
What do you mean by 'rich white men'? <:Kappa:327142715592540171>
(((rich white men)))
<:40keks:337002418023694336>
Y'know...
The ((( (((Jewish))) Conspiracy )))
but you see, its not a conspiracy to an SJW. they are collectivist right? so if they have 1 jew in their sight, for any reason, then they are anti semtic.
and there is definitely more than 1 jew in their sights
I thought the whole idea of white privilege was that all white people had it, meaning they don't hate 'rich white men' because they are rich, but because they are 'white'?
So, which is it? Do they hate white people or rich people?
both, because they are communists
Or is it "all white people have privilege, but rich white people have even more privilege?"
because rich people are business people. and white people are white
This privilege system sounds awfully meritocratic.
i would say it is rich white people have even more privilege.
but you know, all white people are rich
there are no poor white people
they don't exist or else white privilege would be flawed
i mean, those coal workers much be rich, otherwise why would they vote for trump? only rich people supported trump.
You spelled racists wrong.
Only ***racists*** supported Trump. <:Kappa:327142715592540171>
its like sjw's have this ideal person to hate, and they think if you have ANY part of that ideal horrible person, you MIGHT be that person so just to be safe, you are that person UNLESS you have enough "ideal moral person" traits. The problem is neither ideal person exist, so it just turns their whole equation into a subjective, wish-washy mess that, at the end of the day, declares everyone a horrible person.
because they put white people, rich people, and men at all the same level. then need to come up with an excuse to not hate the white people, rich people, or men that support them.
Maybe they can put some kind of marker or indicator on the white men that support them... like... something for them to wear...
...like an arm band or something... signaling to them who they are...
*Hmmm.*
like put them on a sex offender list for rape and assault of women
found the armband and the their white leader! https://squawker.org/wp-content/uploads/4T4Wwj.jpg https://ei.marketwatch.com/Multimedia/2018/03/24/Photos/ZH/MW-GG195_hogg_2_20180324134838_ZH.jpg?uuid=94f95c8e-2f8b-11e8-b712-ac162d7bc1f7
That *might* look kind of intimiating or inspiring if he weren't so incredibly thin and skinny...
lmao
he still has time to fillout the role.
I mean, not to hate on him or personally insult him or anything. I'm just saying, I'm not sure he's as inspiring of a symbol as he seems to think he is? lol
He's just got no muscle on him whatsoever, and he just is really very thin-looking. lol
remember, he is more like the leader of the SJW youth
all i see when i look at his fanatic face is the idea of him going head to head with based stickman
lol
to be fair, as far as i know, Hogg is only mainly the face of the gun debate and not really useful anywhere else in the leftist program. being a white male.
even worse if he is straight too
so you know
he'll fade again once the left realises this is another non issue in the line of non-issues that is gun control debate in AMERICA
That's what they do, though: they take non-issues and turn them into issues.
nah, the media reports them as issues
most of those people are just sheeple that think that protesting is somehow gonna change peoples minds if you just keep it up
"Welp, we protested here for 8 hours, time to ditch this sign, for i did MY part"
besides, history has shown that gun sales skyrocket every time this is being done
the best thing to get people to buy guns, is protesting that you want to take away guns
you know, the gun sales skyrocketing almost makes me wonder if there is a politician who takes legit money from a gun manufacture who helps spur some of the protests along.
wtf, lmao
I have like, four googly-eye gifs for some reason.
i mean, why not?
Two of them are GoT spoilers. lol
is it googly-eye's over someones dick or breasts then?
lol
"In this world this 'Fat Girl' seems to do a lot of walking..."
"....something doesn't add up..."
Incorrect, I loved the D before I started watching anime
Tim just got invited to a Sargon stream.
Tim's covering Youtube panic behind the scenes
on it
Really? lol
I dislike his methods, but I like his results. *shrug*
Cuil Theory was great.
a classic
Lmao
I wouldn't even step on you.
So, given the last two posts (minus the snake), how long before anime is a "dog whistle for the alt-right"
it's funny how we now think of gamers and anime watchers as being right wing
did this happen just because of 4chan?
or is there any profound reason for this?
not just because of 4chan- it's just an easy example. I don't think anyone with sufficient brain cells would actually believe that *all* gamers are neo-fascists. At most they say the Alt-Right's roots are in gaming.
it's just a method of infecting these industries. accuse people of being nazis, make them prove they're not nazis to save their reputation by doing whatever you demand, then profit.
