2018-04-17 01:14:34 UTC

It does look great! I didn't see him hang a lampshade on the camera, though.

2018-04-17 01:27:18 UTC

Also, don't click the blue links, you'll lose hours.

2018-04-17 02:25:18 UTC

Oh, it's code! I'm learning a whole new language for this discord. So when "lampshading," he's just being upfront about the camera to ward off any naysayers?

2018-04-17 02:25:44 UTC

And thanks, I'll cross those blue-link bridges when I get to 'em. ๐Ÿ˜

2018-04-17 02:26:18 UTC

I slightly misused the trope, but yeah, kind of.

2018-04-17 02:27:38 UTC

He made a point of pointing out the new camera (And I still want to know! I'm in the market for a new camera, and I like the quality of that one!)

2018-04-17 02:27:59 UTC

And that's what I was referring to when I said he hung a lampshade on it.

2018-04-17 02:51:58 UTC

Okay, gotcha. Wish I could help you out with the camera info. Hopefully you'll find an answer soon!

2018-04-17 03:13:00 UTC

I hope Phil succeeds. YouTube needs to know that there will be consequences for their shitty behavior

2018-04-17 03:45:58 UTC

Anyone been keeping up with the Baked Alaska drama?

2018-04-17 04:21:52 UTC

Did he really...?

2018-04-17 04:23:16 UTC

I heard he and Andy went at it, but I doubt Baked put the effort to actually dox Andy and his family

2018-04-17 04:23:23 UTC

Wouldn't put it past some autist from /pol/ though

2018-04-17 04:23:33 UTC

Baked and Andy have done shit IRL.

2018-04-17 04:23:43 UTC

And I've always suspected Andy was a psudeonym

2018-04-17 04:25:15 UTC

I've been vaguely following it.

2018-04-17 04:32:15 UTC

He actually did it live on the Kumite how I hear it.
There are mixed accounts, but the general consensus is that he either did during a break, or tried to, or something along those lines? Like contacting hackers and stuff saying he'd pay money?

2018-04-17 04:34:50 UTC

looks like that portion didn't render yet

2018-04-17 04:38:17 UTC

From the looks of it, he's trying to set up a doxing discord, trying some kraut level bullshittery

2018-04-17 04:38:42 UTC

at least that's what Metokur's pulled

2018-04-17 05:07:28 UTC

He's going full Kraut.

2018-04-17 05:07:34 UTC

Never go full Kraut.

2018-04-17 05:11:57 UTC

Well, this was after a stream in which he started getting embarassed about his chat with a woman friend nearby, who got progressively more drunk and more annoying.

2018-04-17 05:12:29 UTC

His stream was basically completely derailed by him removing wrenches and shit

2018-04-17 05:13:34 UTC

Andy and the Kumite guys were talking about how it started looking like he's just running a charade, and calling him out on stuff.

2018-04-17 05:14:24 UTC

If he turned around and actually doxed Andy because he criticized him....

2018-04-17 05:45:20 UTC

The funny thing is, out of all of them, Andy was the one trying to help him out the most.

2018-04-17 05:45:33 UTC

Which is why this is so weird and doesn't make any sense to me.

2018-04-17 05:51:49 UTC

I have no idea how the fuck to explain the BA situation to people

2018-04-17 05:52:06 UTC

I tried telling an IRL friend about it today and I didn't know where to start

2018-04-17 05:52:26 UTC

it's such a shitshow and it's moving so quickly

2018-04-17 05:52:43 UTC

I know lol.

2018-04-17 05:52:45 UTC

and I don't want to sit through a billion hours of streams to figure this shit out

2018-04-17 05:54:36 UTC

From what I could gather:
BA moved to LA.
His agent suggested doing every day streams, so naturally the quality of his content goes down and gets diluted.
After awhile he starts banning people for saying 'kill n****' and 'kill k****' and stuff like that.
Metikur comes onto his show and starts criticizing him for his behavior.
BA spergs out.

2018-04-17 05:55:37 UTC

Then they talk about it on Andy's show, some arguing, some more sperging out on BA's part, the whole time Tonka and Andy are genuinely trying to help him and give him advice.

2018-04-17 05:55:54 UTC

But you can tell by the end of the stream he's just not getting it and they're not getting through to him.

2018-04-17 05:56:17 UTC

Having lived around drug addicts and former drug addicts, BA is showing quite a few signs of being on something.

2018-04-17 05:57:11 UTC

This is just the bare bones version, though, leaving out some other side stuff such as this new 'Erin' person appearing on his streams and some more people from LA that have been showing up.

2018-04-17 05:58:08 UTC

One of the bigger 'side issues' is Metikur revealing that one of the LA people's father released a book about autism? There was something else about defending pedophilia, but I'm not sure if that was LA dude himself or the guy's father.

2018-04-17 05:58:37 UTC

Of which BA accused Metikur of 'doxxing' LA and his father, btw.

2018-04-17 05:59:05 UTC

Even though criminal records are public, as is *the guy's book that he himself is selling on Amazon.*

2018-04-17 06:00:48 UTC

yeah, and I guess some shit happened on kumite today too

2018-04-17 06:01:00 UTC

a bunch of allegations came out,

2018-04-17 06:01:13 UTC

Yeah, that's where BA came back and doxxed Andy and his family.

2018-04-17 06:01:15 UTC

baked wants to fight Tonka, etc

2018-04-17 06:01:43 UTC

BA's sub numbers have been tanking hard, on both of his channels.

2018-04-17 06:03:00 UTC

I'll put up social blades in SP.

2018-04-17 07:09:49 UTC

I've been following the shitshow since saturday when he broke down

2018-04-17 07:50:37 UTC

its too early for youtube drama, i keep reading "BA" and thinking of Mr.T in the A-team

2018-04-17 07:57:49 UTC

I'm nowhere near awake or clever enough to think of a subtle way of saying 'I remember that show!'

2018-04-17 09:25:33 UTC

His shit was a catastrophe

2018-04-17 09:49:19 UTC

I pity those fools

2018-04-17 14:13:14 UTC

if they are the a team, does that mean we are the Beany team?

2018-04-17 16:40:45 UTC

tesla factory dangerous cause elon doesnt like yellow

2018-04-17 16:42:07 UTC

i mean i dont like yellow eighter, but safety first man

2018-04-17 16:49:48 UTC

double you tee eff

2018-04-17 17:01:10 UTC

I'd have to read that full article because I'm interested to see if the things that are normally yellow are just not there at all, or are a different color.

2018-04-17 17:01:40 UTC

there are apparently safety signs missing

2018-04-17 17:01:44 UTC

Not there at all is a little unexcusable. A different color is a little more forgiving.

2018-04-17 17:02:11 UTC

because too many signs does not look good or something

2018-04-17 17:03:11 UTC

Well, you know, keep in mind chainsaws need a reminder to not use your junk to stop the blade. So, let's see what signs. Also common, he works in tech, has he looked in a computer? Everything is labelled. Fucking label your shit.

2018-04-17 17:03:24 UTC

Come on"

2018-04-17 17:03:27 UTC

Damn phone

2018-04-17 20:51:52 UTC

Would not surprise me

2018-04-17 20:52:00 UTC

Musk is still pushing the hyperloop

2018-04-17 20:52:06 UTC

Delusional tier shit

2018-04-17 20:59:10 UTC

you're surprised that a man who sells 500 dollar flamethrowers has safety issues?

2018-04-17 21:55:54 UTC

@Ghostler let me guess, you watched BS from Thunderfoot?

2018-04-17 21:57:06 UTC

Starbucks announced that they're going to be shutting down stores for 'Bias Training'.

2018-04-17 22:37:34 UTC

lol

2018-04-17 22:37:38 UTC

sure whatever

2018-04-17 22:37:40 UTC

why not

2018-04-17 22:37:45 UTC

Only reason is thundervoot

2018-04-17 22:37:50 UTC

thundermoot

2018-04-17 23:21:08 UTC

That should be on <#398973785426100234>

2018-04-17 23:56:05 UTC

@Ghostler many of thundermoot's claims about the 'stupidity' of hyperloop have been debunked but he's too arrogant to even acknowledge it or debate the person who debunked him, the only thing I'll give him is that he doesn't think it can be made financially viable but probably plenty people thought all complicated forms of transport were not financially viable

2018-04-17 23:58:18 UTC

There's plenty of quotes from history by very well learned people that turned out to be utterly absurd.

2018-04-17 23:59:07 UTC

1876: "This 'telephone' has too many shortcomings to be seriously considered as a means of communication." โ€” William Orton, President of Western Union.

2018-04-17 23:59:19 UTC

1889: โ€œFooling around with alternating current (AC) is just a waste of time. Nobody will use it, ever.โ€ โ€” Thomas Edison

1903: โ€œThe horse is here to stay but the automobile is only a novelty โ€“ a fad.โ€ โ€” President of the Michigan Savings Bank advising Henry Fordโ€™s lawyer, Horace Rackham, not to invest in the Ford Motor Company.

2018-04-17 23:59:37 UTC

1946: "Television won't be able to hold on to any market it captures after the first six months. People will soon get tired of staring at a plywood box every night." โ€” Darryl Zanuck, 20th Century Fox.

2018-04-17 23:59:46 UTC

1959: "Before man reaches the moon, your mail will be delivered within hours from New York to Australia by guided missiles. We stand on the threshold of rocket mail." โ€” Arthur Summerfield, U.S. Postmaster General.

2018-04-17 23:59:56 UTC

1961: "There is practically no chance communications space satellites will be used to provide better telephone, telegraph, television or radio service inside the United States." โ€” T.A.M. Craven, Federal Communications Commission (FCC) commissioner.

2018-04-18 00:00:04 UTC

1966: "Remote shopping, while entirely feasible, will flop.โ€ โ€” Time Magazine.

2018-04-18 00:00:24 UTC

1981: โ€œCellular phones will absolutely not replace local wire systems.โ€ โ€” Marty Cooper, inventor.

1995: "I predict the Internet will soon go spectacularly supernova and in 1996 catastrophically collapse." โ€” Robert Metcalfe, founder of 3Com.

2005: "There's just not that many videos I want to watch." โ€” Steve Chen, CTO and co-founder of YouTube expressing concerns about his companyโ€™s long term viability.

2006: "Everyone's always asking me when Apple will come out with a cell phone. My answer is, 'Probably never.'" โ€” David Pogue, The New York Times.

2018-04-18 00:01:29 UTC

There's plenty more.

2018-04-18 00:02:03 UTC

that 1959 one.... Syria has been getting plenty of rocket mail recently

2018-04-18 04:45:08 UTC

Thunderfoot is too arrogant to debate literally anyone. His channel is a pulpit, not a soap box.

2018-04-18 05:31:23 UTC

I have a really hard time following AiU during debates too.

2018-04-18 05:33:10 UTC

His debate with, I think Nick Fuentes, about gun control was just cringe to try to watch.

2018-04-18 06:21:27 UTC

@RyeNorth so starbacks is throwing money out of the window to virtue signal now? Cool another readon not to buy coffee there. ๐Ÿ˜

2018-04-18 06:22:00 UTC

And yes i have been asked to leave or buy something before...

2018-04-18 06:27:41 UTC

I wouldn't put this in the same tier as, say, a car company making a superbowl ad about the pay gap

2018-04-18 06:28:03 UTC

This was a response to an outcry

2018-04-18 06:28:22 UTC

The only thing is, the outcry is dumb

2018-04-18 06:28:47 UTC

And the response is dumb

2018-04-18 06:30:19 UTC

They were within their rights to kick them out. They refused requests to leave from the manager, they refused orders to leave from the officers.

2018-04-18 06:31:01 UTC

They were not 'customers'

2018-04-18 06:31:50 UTC

I mean, I used to be a bike courier in Washington DC.

2018-04-18 06:32:55 UTC

In the winter, I'd generally try to find heated places to wait between deliveries, if I had 30 minutes to wait or so

2018-04-18 06:33:11 UTC

And I never got asked to leave

2018-04-18 06:34:23 UTC

Specifically because I had a petty cash fund on hand for buying a soda at a restaurant, and just sipping on that while enjoying the heat.

2018-04-18 06:34:57 UTC

It's not hard, at all.

2018-04-18 06:35:25 UTC

And I had black friends who did the very same. Zero issues.

2018-04-18 06:40:24 UTC

Companies donโ€™t understand that the worst thing you can do is publicly address the situation. Just be quiet about it and people will forget really quickly.

2018-04-18 07:45:30 UTC

hey guys is the podcast available through any podcast app? I can't find it on Pocket Casts

2018-04-18 09:42:56 UTC

I think its on itunes.. but i have no idea how that works

2018-04-18 10:03:05 UTC

weird I checked again on pocket casts and found it

2018-04-18 10:03:15 UTC

thanks anyway โค

2018-04-18 11:33:04 UTC

money

2018-04-18 12:17:13 UTC

Afaik itโ€™s not used anymore.

2018-04-18 12:23:51 UTC

And itโ€™s legal depending on the use.

2018-04-18 12:24:19 UTC

Unlike more potent chemical agents.

2018-04-18 12:42:13 UTC

i wouldn't classify white phosphorus as a chemical weapon. IF you do then every explosive is a chemical weapon.

2018-04-18 12:44:44 UTC

@AussieAryan#2292 although if we want to answer it like an SJW, its because its white and that's part of the white oppression machine.

2018-04-18 15:22:49 UTC

Its like the Germans complaining about shotguns when they themselves were using Flamers and Chlorine gas

2018-04-18 15:23:16 UTC

Also.. The US does use it as well, just not as well, documented.

2018-04-18 15:23:47 UTC

Also, honestly, It would be hypocritical of me to say I oppose weapons like that if they are effective. Chemical weapons kill without damaging infrastructure. Usually...

2018-04-18 15:23:59 UTC

Now the suffering imposed on them....

2018-04-18 15:27:21 UTC

Actually just wondering, which part of chemical weapons do people oppose? The pain and suffering, the indescriminate effect of them, or the potential long term effects?

2018-04-18 15:27:59 UTC

Orr theres the "Its not fair" mentality most military deficient nations hold...

2018-04-18 15:34:26 UTC

how the fuck...
https://www.yelp.com/biz/moon-cricket-grille-winter-garden
Do you guys know what "moon cricket" means?

2018-04-18 15:49:15 UTC

Whoa, I didn't until just a minute ago.

2018-04-18 15:56:44 UTC

wow

2018-04-18 15:57:11 UTC

i'm more amazed it still has a 3.5 rating and not a 1

2018-04-18 16:23:02 UTC

Bahahahahahahha

2018-04-18 16:24:32 UTC

Please tell me the restaurant owner knows the historical context

2018-04-18 18:56:44 UTC

i guess it could be possible they are trying to reclaim the word.. it could romantesize black culture in a way

2018-04-18 18:57:36 UTC

if the owner of the restaurant is anything besides black though.. i could see this becoming something the US news crawls all over if it happens to be a slow news day

2018-04-18 20:11:25 UTC

someone got shot at a train station for carrying a knife

2018-04-18 20:11:25 UTC

2018-04-18 20:11:45 UTC

he is hospitalized but no danger for his life

2018-04-18 20:12:06 UTC

he appearently had threatened people with the knife prior to the police arriving

2018-04-18 20:13:21 UTC

there is no additional information, so we dont know if he was a knife threatener of peace

2018-04-18 20:16:59 UTC

@>Cytos, de lieve goede synth reclaiming a word is against the SJW way. So even if it was, they would be white supremacists, even if they are black. They will have their minority card revoked

2018-04-18 20:17:32 UTC

hmm i think there are examples of reclaimed words

2018-04-18 20:18:02 UTC

used to be a mean thing but then became a good thing

2018-04-18 20:18:17 UTC

2018-04-18 20:18:35 UTC

i think dyke used to be a bad thing too, but now it is not.. i think?

2018-04-18 21:06:31 UTC

pretty sure its still bad

2018-04-19 08:40:15 UTC

https://nos.nl/artikel/2228041-populaire-games-overtreden-gokregels.html (article in Dutch)

Dutch gambling authorities declare certain forms of game lootboxes to be gambling and as such, illegal. They have to change their format within eight weeks or face fines up to ~840k euros, or even being banned from sale in the Netherlands. Other forms are given a 'stern warming' and are -requested- to change.

2018-04-19 09:14:36 UTC

Hmm nice

2018-04-19 09:15:00 UTC

I was kinda hoping they would do this in belgium too

2018-04-19 09:15:25 UTC

At least for minors

2018-04-19 09:21:01 UTC

Well, there's movements like this all over europe

2018-04-19 09:25:27 UTC

I doubt its gona happen anytime soom here thb, notbthe way the elections look

2018-04-19 09:34:30 UTC

Where is here

2018-04-19 10:13:40 UTC

belgium my lass

2018-04-19 10:44:42 UTC

the part of me angry about shitty business practices is happy about that, but my dislike of government regulation is pissed about that.

2018-04-19 10:49:33 UTC

I entirely agree, but my 'they brought it on themselves, the filthy greedy fucks' wins.

2018-04-19 10:59:46 UTC

I never get why government regulation is supposed to be a bad thing... but then again, i donโ€˜t live in a socialist country ๐Ÿ˜

2018-04-19 11:01:53 UTC

@I AM ERROR come to Europe

2018-04-19 11:02:17 UTC

here, you can only make a company if you get paid from the government or from the EU

2018-04-19 11:02:17 UTC

I am

2018-04-19 11:02:26 UTC

where exactly then? ๐Ÿค”

2018-04-19 11:02:33 UTC

I'm in Portugal

2018-04-19 11:02:49 UTC

Between denmark and austria ๐Ÿ˜

2018-04-19 11:04:05 UTC

Or between france and poland? No matter... the country with the idiot chancellor ๐Ÿ˜

2018-04-19 11:07:06 UTC

it doesn't surprise me that someone from Europe doesn't see it as a problem, as there's nothing else around here

2018-04-19 11:07:07 UTC

Falko is a german

2018-04-19 11:07:12 UTC

regulation is everywhere

2018-04-19 11:07:59 UTC

I usually say "come to Europe" for americans that don't see regulation as a problem, and they understand it when they see it

2018-04-19 11:08:17 UTC

explaining it to an European is more difficult though

2018-04-19 11:08:42 UTC

regulation is only good when it doesn't punish people,

Regulating companies that then have to compensate by cutting people off is not such a thing

2018-04-19 11:09:58 UTC

Regulation as a form of Communism is another problem too

2018-04-19 11:10:10 UTC

the Carbon Tax for example

2018-04-19 11:10:13 UTC

yes, because that punishes the people

2018-04-19 11:10:46 UTC

it punishes everyone, it's an easy way for global taxation as an excuse

2018-04-19 11:11:52 UTC

yes, and in order to justify the excuse, they'll say its to "coerce" people to switch to better alternatives

2018-04-19 11:13:01 UTC

gonna be fun though when they overregulate

2018-04-19 11:14:19 UTC

fyi, Amsterdam is about to be bent over

2018-04-19 11:27:59 UTC

screw Europe, I'm leaving ๐Ÿ˜‚

2018-04-19 11:28:23 UTC

I don't see how this will get any better in the near future

2018-04-19 11:28:36 UTC

and my hopes on UK with brexit went down the drain too

2018-04-19 11:34:29 UTC

Good idea.

2018-04-19 11:34:45 UTC

Europe is a lost cause.

2018-04-19 11:40:38 UTC

@Falko#1083 because it adds cost to entry for most markets (which makes creating new competing businesses harder), doesn't always do anything, is slow to react to changes in industries, and turns the government into a weapon larger corporations can use to stifle competition. Also the government is usually generally poor at doing much of anything and often regulations have a bad habit of having unintended collateral damage. In this example, for instance, why is it illegal? If a kid is playing these games and the parents let them, then its the parents fault for letting the kid gamble. If its an adult who is playing it, you have just declared that adults are apparently incapable of making wise decisions on their own not to buy these things and not to get addicted to gambling, which is basically saying "you are still just a kid, and the government is your parent".

2018-04-19 11:54:56 UTC

In this instance... why is gambling not universally legal?

2018-04-19 11:56:52 UTC

In general: i do not trust companies to not do shitty stuff if no one tells them not to do it.

2018-04-19 12:02:24 UTC

ethics, some countries consider it a form of addiction, and legalising it would be letting them basically become crackheads

2018-04-19 12:07:04 UTC

Well... yeah... its addicting... thats the point and that is the exact same thing that gets used to sell lootboxes

2018-04-19 12:08:19 UTC

Bit i dont think its ethics... it just that people that have gambled away all their money do not pay taxes ๐Ÿ˜

2018-04-19 12:10:20 UTC

nah thats a reverse fact,

due to progressive taxes, low income people pay less tax money,

If they gamble all their money away, the big gambling emporiums with their larger taxes, would be paying way more

2018-04-19 12:24:00 UTC

@I AM ERROR gambling legality is closely related to prostitution's legality. Its manly just for "moral" reasons.

2018-04-19 12:28:58 UTC

also upper class people with a "not in my back yard" mentality

2018-04-19 12:40:22 UTC

Normally I'm against giving the government more powr to control or regulate anything, but given the addictive nature of lootboxes and crates, I'm fine with this one concession.

2018-04-19 12:40:56 UTC

Then again, I'm also against drugs being illegal, so I hate this 'middle ground' stuff we have going on where some substances are legal, but others are not.

2018-04-19 12:41:04 UTC

It's like, either ban all drugs, or make them all legal.

2018-04-19 12:41:14 UTC

Either ban gambling or don't.

2018-04-19 12:45:05 UTC

keep in mind i am not in favor of more rules

2018-04-19 12:45:16 UTC

im in favor of recognizing lootboxes as they are

2018-04-19 12:45:19 UTC

gambling

2018-04-19 12:45:29 UTC

and applying the rules of gambling to lootboxes too

2018-04-19 12:45:55 UTC

aka no minors

2018-04-19 12:46:15 UTC

Yeah, I get that argument, but then with that same logic you have to do the same thing to card packs, like in Magic the Gathering.

2018-04-19 12:47:30 UTC

The argument *for* lootboxes up until this point has been "but you always get *something* for what you pay for, so it's not *really* gambling guys.
Even though it feeds off of the same risk-taking part of the brain *as* gambling... but it's totally **NOT** the same thing, guys!

2018-04-19 12:48:09 UTC

hmmm

2018-04-19 12:48:20 UTC

maybe kids should not be allowed to buy random card packs too

2018-04-19 12:48:40 UTC

though i have to admit, it seems ok for card packs

2018-04-19 12:48:53 UTC

i bought plenty of pokemon card packs myself

2018-04-19 12:48:57 UTC

well not plenty, but enough

2018-04-19 12:49:21 UTC

In an online game like Hearthstone, I would argue not, because of how easy and convenient they've made it to buy them. It's much easier to get 'hooked' onto opening card packs in an online game than in a brick-and-mortar store.

2018-04-19 12:49:40 UTC

im just wondering if i can justify the difference between card packs and lootboxes..

2018-04-19 12:49:57 UTC

even if they are digital card packs...

2018-04-19 12:50:39 UTC

if i recall correctly the overall value of a card pack from pokemon is always the same, if you count cathegories

2018-04-19 12:50:40 UTC

like

2018-04-19 12:50:52 UTC

1 shiny, couple of energies and a couple of basic pokemon

2018-04-19 12:51:36 UTC

oh and tech cards

2018-04-19 12:51:38 UTC

Still really similar to lootboxes, only lootboxes typically have a variety of items, not just cards, but then that's really hair-splitting at that point.

2018-04-19 12:52:32 UTC

its also possible im just biased in favour of collectable cards cause i didnt feel like it effected me so much

2018-04-19 12:52:45 UTC

never had any experience with lootboxes as a kid

2018-04-19 12:53:09 UTC

Before I knew what I was doing, I let myself spend $500 on Hearthstone...

2018-04-19 12:53:13 UTC

Years ago.

2018-04-19 12:53:25 UTC

And I don't even play that game anymore today.

2018-04-19 12:53:41 UTC

500 is like my gaming budget for over a year lel

2018-04-19 12:53:54 UTC

including components fyi

2018-04-19 12:54:22 UTC

I don't have a particular budget, but yeah I definitely don't spent that much on a single game unless I've been playing it for years.

2018-04-19 12:55:09 UTC

Like last year I spent quite a bit on gaming, but only because the Nintendo Switch came out.

2018-04-19 12:55:14 UTC

too give you an idea, i consider a game worth it, if it provided an hour of enjoyable gameplay for every euro spent

2018-04-19 12:55:25 UTC

most games dont make that treshold tho

2018-04-19 12:55:28 UTC

so i wait for sales

2018-04-19 12:55:34 UTC

i never play shit on release anymore

2018-04-19 12:55:55 UTC

I rarely buy games on release or preorder anymore, with Nintendo being the exception.

2018-04-19 12:56:03 UTC

For the most part Nintendo has almost never let me down.

2018-04-19 12:57:14 UTC

I think I remember someone, sometime, trying to make the argument that the rewards you get in different games from 'amiibos' were gambling. lol

2018-04-19 12:57:32 UTC

I distinctly remember getting into that argument with someone, and I'm just sitting there going 'wut.'

2018-04-19 12:58:06 UTC

issnt the reward set in stone?

2018-04-19 12:58:37 UTC

Depends on the game. Some have very specific rewards, but other games kind of randomize the loot like in Zelda Breath of the Wild.

2018-04-19 12:59:12 UTC

But you're not charged money to use an amiibo every time you use it; in fact, the only limitation on amiibo is that *you can only use it once a day.*

2018-04-19 13:00:04 UTC

So even in bizarro world where amiibo *may* functionally be considered gambling, the amiibo *themselves* artificially prevent gambling by limiting you to only one 'charge' per day.

2018-04-19 13:00:06 UTC

but you pay for it only once..

2018-04-19 13:00:16 UTC

Exactly, you buy the figurine, and that's it.

2018-04-19 13:00:40 UTC

Nothing like gambling.

2018-04-19 13:00:55 UTC

Oh man, I wish I could remember who that argument was with now...

2018-04-19 13:04:39 UTC

But yeah, there are a couple of ways you can argue the 'regulating lootboxes like gambling is incorrect' stance, but trying to say that "but then you have to regulate/ban amiibo too, then!" is not one of them. lol

2018-04-19 13:16:10 UTC

well i guess lootboxes arent like gambling in that not all lootboxes give you shit you can trade with other people (liek you can win money at casinos)
