2018-05-03 14:24:24 UTC

and stick to the facts as much as possible (which to be fair I think they do most of the time)

2018-05-03 14:33:56 UTC

is ti weird that the same people who go around smashing windows, attacking people, and starting fires are the same people who advocate safe spaces?

2018-05-03 14:35:05 UTC

i imagine those kinda people dont really care about any cause.. and just want to set the world on fire and watch it burn

2018-05-03 14:37:13 UTC

specially if the rest of the group likes to wear masks and all wear the same black clothing

2018-05-03 14:37:41 UTC

great excuse to get away with some teenage smashing stuff

2018-05-03 14:41:32 UTC

@wacka since when has anything bias ever taken to moving towards unbias when being called out? they usually double down.

2018-05-03 14:42:14 UTC

@Timcast maybe they are trying to create greater demand for them because they realize no one really wants their safe spaces?

2018-05-03 14:42:17 UTC

Im not sure about that... the BBC has been called bias ...pretty much since its inception

2018-05-03 14:42:46 UTC

i mean, its state owned news. how can it not be bias?

2018-05-03 14:42:53 UTC

at least a little

2018-05-03 14:43:36 UTC

well its complicated but its seperate from the people in power... its not under parliaments mandate... like the bank of england

2018-05-03 14:44:13 UTC

but yeah ... Im sure GCHQ sometimes has a word... it would not surprise me

2018-05-03 14:45:29 UTC

@Timcast

They want safe spaces, for THEM, not the "out" group, aka
"We want to be able to beat people and destroy others stuff, but have our stuff protected by authority"

2018-05-03 14:46:01 UTC

if its funded by taxes, then its under control of whoever controls the taxes. and who controls the taxes?

2018-05-03 14:46:24 UTC

government, and government will cater to anyone what offers them a vote

2018-05-03 14:46:52 UTC

its a rackety

2018-05-03 14:46:53 UTC

racket

2018-05-03 14:46:56 UTC

smash and destroy

2018-05-03 14:47:04 UTC

then scream that they need safe spaces and use themselves as proof

2018-05-03 14:47:08 UTC

yeah but its different in the UK .. even though one party is "in control" .. the government is also made up of the opposition

2018-05-03 14:47:23 UTC

they are technically correct about right wing speech inciting violence... their violence

2018-05-03 14:47:32 UTC

right wing speakers incite the far left to violence

2018-05-03 14:48:36 UTC

Extremism 101, if you're not with us, you're against us

2018-05-03 14:48:55 UTC

anyone going to be watching #Farmlands when its out? Im a bit sceptical of LS

2018-05-03 14:49:53 UTC

@wacka which means both sides can use the threat of removing funding as leverage. and even the opposition is still government. It may work hard, or once worked hard, to limit its bias, but its still under control of a relatively small amount of people who may not even make up its "customers"

2018-05-03 14:51:01 UTC

@Timcast Its part of a theme with the extremist left. Beating you over the head while crying out you are attacking them.

2018-05-03 14:53:04 UTC

The extreme/far left doesn't exactly understand what they want themselves though,

They want to punch nazi's, and have safe spaces
They want to take guns away from people and have only the government have guns, the same government they find fascist/tyrannical
They want the rich people to pay everything, most of them are rich/middle class and don't want to chip in their own money

2018-05-03 14:53:18 UTC

some mentally unstable people do the same: they attack you and when you defend yourself, they start playing the victim

2018-05-03 14:54:25 UTC

they don't just "play" victim, they see themselves as a genuine victim

2018-05-03 14:54:32 UTC

yes

2018-05-03 14:54:33 UTC

well put

2018-05-03 14:54:42 UTC

i didnt hear much about this student march which apprently affected 40 states, students walking out of schools in protest

2018-05-03 14:54:53 UTC

because when they attack someone, they see it as "fighting tyranny"
when they get a response, its the "tyranny oppressing them"

2018-05-03 14:55:29 UTC

I didn't hear anything about a student march at all, cuz i'm not from the states

2018-05-03 14:55:32 UTC

something about protecting the 2nd amendment (so Im not surprised it wasnt covered much)

2018-05-03 14:55:49 UTC

all i hear about America over here is how Trump is a naisie

2018-05-03 15:00:22 UTC

yeah the twitter and some media went into a bit of meltdown when they announced he was coming here in july

2018-05-03 15:01:23 UTC

you expect the msm to give a 2nd amendment march airtime like they do gun control?

2018-05-03 15:01:47 UTC

that would break the narrative that all young people support gun control!

2018-05-03 15:01:53 UTC

I dont expect it.. but they should

2018-05-03 15:02:01 UTC

they should, but they don't

2018-05-03 15:02:10 UTC

you'd think it would sell more headlines

2018-05-03 15:02:23 UTC

it would be a shocker to their audience

2018-05-03 15:02:26 UTC

maybe even panic them

2018-05-03 15:02:37 UTC

and their not target audience would be suprised too

2018-05-03 15:02:38 UTC

and read

2018-05-03 15:02:52 UTC

If they were smart, the MSM would report it, to spark the "left"s fear of people doing that, making them protest more, aka more news to cover in the long run

2018-05-03 15:03:58 UTC

if the MSM was smart, they probably wouldn't be losing out to independent media

2018-05-03 15:04:19 UTC

companies who become ridged do not last the test of time

2018-05-03 15:05:47 UTC

Well i think its a market strategy,
the MSM took one polarized side, in order to get a guaranteed audience that just want to be told things they approve of

2018-05-03 15:06:02 UTC

so they'll tune in every day, and MSM gets a guaranteed audience to appease their share-holders

2018-05-03 15:06:32 UTC

but they bet on the wrong horse with the 2016 presidency, and now their grip on the reality they told for years is cracking between their fingers

2018-05-03 15:07:25 UTC

and they don't want to come out and admit it, cuz then they'd lose their core audience base, and become uncertain, which leads to less ensurance for share-holders etc

meaning they're just slowly and surely going to bleed out

2018-05-03 15:09:04 UTC

could just be biased journalists

2018-05-03 15:10:03 UTC

if you start with 2 outlets.. one slightly left leaning.. then a left leaning journalist will go for that outlet - eventually it will get more and more biased naturally

2018-05-03 15:10:20 UTC

Could be the audience.

2018-05-03 15:10:32 UTC

Be left wing, left wingers come watch you

2018-05-03 15:10:47 UTC

So you keep saying left wing, cause if you say anything right wing, they leave

2018-05-03 15:11:08 UTC

So you hire left wingers to say left wing stuff.

2018-05-03 15:11:09 UTC

same with audiance .. if one is slightly left leaning, a left leaning person will choose it.. but I think its down to the journalists that make the bias grow

2018-05-03 15:11:38 UTC

Education really.

2018-05-03 15:11:44 UTC

ANd I mean the public.

2018-05-03 15:12:06 UTC

You cant expect anyone to voluntarily cut off any further profits they could have potentially earned.

2018-05-03 15:12:13 UTC

it will be interesting to see how knife media or whateer its called grows

2018-05-03 15:13:04 UTC

but tbh the more centrist something is, it will be called right wing and left wing

2018-05-03 15:13:24 UTC

BBC is often called both

2018-05-03 15:13:58 UTC

thats cuz BBC is government funded, so they are a mouthpiece of whatever political affiliation the government is

2018-05-03 15:14:09 UTC

the left is always accusing it of right wing bias... and the right even insinuate that its red colouring favours the labour party

2018-05-03 15:14:54 UTC

funny thing is they're both right this time

2018-05-03 15:14:57 UTC

Skeptical buch innit?

2018-05-03 15:15:19 UTC

since the current "conservative" government in britain, is run by a self proclaimed feminist

2018-05-03 15:15:51 UTC

the current government is centre right wing

2018-05-03 15:16:07 UTC

#freedankula

2018-05-03 15:16:19 UTC

but like I said earlier.. less of the half the gov is made up of that party

2018-05-03 15:16:25 UTC

Feminist, or closet egalitarian?

2018-05-03 15:16:43 UTC

if i recall correctly, wage-gap prime minister

2018-05-03 15:16:51 UTC

I would say may is a last generation feminist

2018-05-03 15:17:08 UTC

not like jesse philips who is an MP for labour

2018-05-03 15:19:44 UTC

but you see, even a left leading news site stands to gain from reporting on the event. They seem perfectly fine to be tabloid journalists when it comes to their side, all they need to do is find something to use to smear the kids organizing the event, or just link the event to the alt right, and BAM, their view base is spreading shit like crazy in fear

2018-05-03 15:20:56 UTC

I guess its less about business to the people writing the articles... you would think someone would have a word from higher up

2018-05-03 15:21:18 UTC

The thing is, I am always under the assumption people operated on greed.

2018-05-03 15:21:49 UTC

But what Tim says about these journos create the opposite but affirm it as well

2018-05-03 15:22:03 UTC

yeah but greed for what? greed for themselves? greed for their employers outlet? greed for fame? greed for cash?

2018-05-03 15:22:08 UTC

Journos who take jobs at a net loss. Write shitty clickbait.

2018-05-03 15:22:20 UTC

So theres the activism, and they know it gets them clicks.

2018-05-03 15:22:36 UTC

Problem is, now its a race to see who can write the msot outrageous shit.

2018-05-03 15:22:45 UTC

And most of them dont want to innovate or change.

2018-05-03 15:23:03 UTC

I am skeptical of whether they actually believe their own crap or not.

2018-05-03 15:23:16 UTC

yeah but tabloids have existed for decades... thats not really something new

2018-05-03 15:24:05 UTC

Except, youd expect their journos to be paid better and arnt uni grads

2018-05-03 15:24:10 UTC

hang on .. lemme find this prediction from Carl Sagan its really good...

2018-05-03 15:25:10 UTC

ah.. cant post images... er... lemme see if I can get a link..

2018-05-03 15:25:50 UTC

We arnt we all guilty?

2018-05-03 15:25:56 UTC

Twitter, reddit

2018-05-03 15:26:18 UTC

Id say few can keep concentrated on one thing these days.

2018-05-03 15:26:29 UTC

Too many distractions and I find it really hard to break the cycle

2018-05-03 15:28:02 UTC

I think that one line "unable to distinguish between what feels good and whats true"... was bang on

2018-05-03 15:28:26 UTC

nah, people are perfectly able to distinguish,

They just rather be "good" than "just and true"

2018-05-03 15:28:29 UTC

nothing new I know... but...meh
