2018-11-18 22:53:26 UTC

how can you cross reference when all the media are reading from the same script?

2018-11-18 22:53:44 UTC

KATV is my home town ABC station

2018-11-18 22:53:58 UTC

when we have things like Journolist and Cabalist

2018-11-18 22:53:58 UTC

What is the link about?

2018-11-18 22:54:56 UTC

I think when reporting on an actual event, not an opinion, that Fox and and ABC both reporting the same event would establish that the event happened

2018-11-18 22:55:07 UTC

a bunch of local news stations that are all owned by the same company, reading a generic statement pushed from higher up

2018-11-18 22:55:19 UTC

Maybe not the editorials around it

2018-11-18 22:55:24 UTC

But the event itself

2018-11-18 22:55:33 UTC

my point is that if you have four networks all receiving their information from one source, you can't cross reference.

2018-11-18 22:55:52 UTC

you need actual reports actually on the ground looking at the actual event live and unedted.

2018-11-18 22:55:59 UTC

and news networks don't really do that anymore.

2018-11-18 22:56:02 UTC

it's all commentary.

2018-11-18 22:56:03 UTC

thats what twitter is for!

2018-11-18 22:56:13 UTC

horrifyingly enough

2018-11-18 22:56:22 UTC

Are we really at a point where people honestly believe a mass shooting could be manufactured and not disproven within a few hours?

2018-11-18 22:56:36 UTC

well i don't think so, but some do

2018-11-18 22:56:39 UTC

I guess?

2018-11-18 22:56:40 UTC

people don't think we landed on the moon

2018-11-18 22:56:56 UTC

People know 9/11 was an inside job

2018-11-18 22:56:59 UTC

how is this surprising?

2018-11-18 22:57:01 UTC

we are actually at a point where elections can get tampered with and can't be proven or disproven

2018-11-18 22:57:04 UTC

i mean think, think it was an inside job

2018-11-18 22:57:09 UTC

people also think falcon 9 rockets are UFOs

2018-11-18 22:57:23 UTC

specifically those in California for some reason

2018-11-18 22:57:50 UTC

I mean, to be a pedantic asshole, if they can't identify them, they are UFOs

2018-11-18 22:58:55 UTC

while i'm not so far gone as to believe that a shooting with video and victim testimony has been fabricated, i definitely believe that people will falsify records and statistics for political gain.

2018-11-18 22:59:29 UTC

and we have proof that tech giants have experimented with manipulating people's access to facts to change their opinions.

2018-11-18 23:00:04 UTC

and we also have proof that media outlets collude with both each other and the democratic party to manipulate public perception.

2018-11-18 23:00:18 UTC

again journolist and cabalist as well as the podesta hack.

2018-11-18 23:00:32 UTC

information is power

2018-11-18 23:00:52 UTC

'credibly accused'

2018-11-18 23:01:17 UTC

media outlets collude with each other to push a particular narrative, to the point of coordinating the phrases they use.

2018-11-18 23:02:27 UTC

if you're the kind of person who isn't particularly stable or logical to begin with, once presented with proof of this sort of collusion and manipulation it's not hard to take a wild leap to the idea of staging entire events.

2018-11-18 23:02:47 UTC

Yeah

2018-11-18 23:02:51 UTC

again, i'm not the kind of guy that believes that crap, but it's not hard to conceptualize of people who do

2018-11-18 23:02:52 UTC

I know

2018-11-18 23:03:54 UTC

But why there has the be a reflexive denial that something bad happens rather than simply reiterating that when shit happens it doesn't justify dumping more shit on shit. And then providing support and compassion to those shat on.

2018-11-18 23:04:06 UTC

like we have some photographic evidence of factions that were fighting in the syrian civil war of fabricating photos of dead kids (chicken blood and a cooperative kid). the goal being to stoke western outrage and intervention.

2018-11-18 23:04:33 UTC

But to deny the original existence of children is a very horrid form of evil.

2018-11-18 23:05:30 UTC

yeah, it is. but if you believe in one conspiracy it gets easier to build other conspiracies into it. everything trying to convince you the conspiracy theory is wrong is ***THEM*** trying to trick you. whoever you think ***THEY*** are.

2018-11-18 23:06:02 UTC

its it really that hard to conceptualize people believing highly politized events are false flags

2018-11-18 23:06:22 UTC

"That's a crazy conspiracy theory. You shouldn't believe in that kind of nonsense"
"GASP! You're in on it aren't you>?!?"

2018-11-18 23:06:46 UTC

before you know it, the jews are behind everything

2018-11-18 23:06:57 UTC

False flags can happen. I won't deny that it is important to investigate the actual facts behind terrible acts.

2018-11-18 23:07:19 UTC

It could probably be pulled off, if someone put in a lot of effort

2018-11-18 23:07:23 UTC

But to deny that the terrible act happened in the first place when we have corroborating reports is damaging.

2018-11-18 23:07:28 UTC

but it would need to have some sort of payoff

2018-11-18 23:07:48 UTC

We need more actual reporters to actually physically go on the ground where events happen and film the details themselves. But that doesn't make money. Hyper-partisan commentary does.

2018-11-18 23:07:53 UTC

typically the problem with most conspiracy theories is the amount of money and people who would need to be kept quite.

2018-11-18 23:08:23 UTC

So we have a dozen left-wing talking heads all regurgitating information from one or two sources at best, which is quite easy to manipulate.

2018-11-18 23:08:23 UTC

The larger the conspiracy the less likely that it can maintain itself over time

2018-11-18 23:08:52 UTC

Yes, for sure. But that's not the only problem.

2018-11-18 23:09:11 UTC

Like we've known about JournoList for years. But if you try to tell someone about it they think you're nuts.

2018-11-18 23:09:18 UTC

Demoralization has taken hold.

2018-11-18 23:10:15 UTC

Tried to explain to my mom about the Podesta hack and how it exposed collusion between the Hillary campaign and the media. She wouldn't believe me even when I showed her the emails.

2018-11-18 23:10:41 UTC

Also, depending on how people get the news, hearing contradictions later by sources they don't trust, they would continue to believe the lie

2018-11-18 23:11:20 UTC

Like we've see shit where outlets report fake news, and they never correct it

2018-11-18 23:11:25 UTC

even when disproven

2018-11-18 23:11:47 UTC

Shitty news outlets publishing information without vetting and then neglecting to correct.

2018-11-18 23:12:13 UTC

Like 9/11. All the completely unfounded rumors that were spouted on air as if they were verified fact.

2018-11-18 23:12:40 UTC

Every shooting or terrorist attack they always, always mention a possible second gunman even without a shred of evidence.

2018-11-18 23:12:55 UTC

Have to be the first to get the scoop so you make the money.

2018-11-18 23:13:20 UTC

And the truth is nearly irrelevant as far as their bottom line is concerned.

2018-11-18 23:14:34 UTC

We're awash in so much contradictory or untrustworthy information that we can't tell fact from fiction even when we're presented with the verified truth. Demoralized.

2018-11-18 23:15:33 UTC

On the left people believe to the core of their being that the Proud Boys are nazi skinheads or something, even though every five minutes they're saying they're not and some of their leadership are Latino and Native American.

2018-11-18 23:16:16 UTC

Just sayin the town Bielefeld does not exist. /s

2018-11-18 23:18:00 UTC

People build, maintain, and *defend* a narrative despite any objective facts to the contrary, because in our chaotic partisan information-overloaded world that's the only way to stay sane.

2018-11-18 23:19:35 UTC

Some of those people, who are probably not particularly stable or intelligent to begin with, build narratives based on conspiracies. And they will just keep maintaining them and defending them regardless. You can present them with the best information, audio, video, testimony, whatever, and they'll use that to reinforce their existing view of the world.

2018-11-18 23:19:49 UTC

We all do it to a certain degree.

2018-11-18 23:20:46 UTC

Watergate started as a conspiracy theory that turned out to be right.

2018-11-18 23:22:32 UTC

Up until Snowden the NSA monitoring everything you do was a nutty conspiracy.

2018-11-18 23:22:50 UTC

So yeah, it doesn't help that sometimes they're true.

2018-11-18 23:23:34 UTC

We desperately need the news media to return to boring, unbiased, non-partisan reporting of the facts, as recorded by their own employees on the ground.

2018-11-18 23:24:23 UTC

Wire services and freelancers are great and all, but if the entire industry is using one source then that's a problem.

2018-11-18 23:24:48 UTC

I doubt it will happen since the MSM have reduced their correspondents corps.

2018-11-18 23:24:53 UTC

We need fewer $100M studios and more boots on the ground.

2018-11-18 23:25:21 UTC

Totally agree

2018-11-18 23:25:40 UTC

_starts cloning Timโ€ฆ_

2018-11-18 23:25:58 UTC

How do you convince the left to relinquish such a powerful tool of manipulation though?

2018-11-18 23:28:36 UTC

Anyone remember TheKnife media? Kind of ironic that they had exactly the sort of reporting we need to restore normalcy to America, but they turned out to be run by a secret sex slave cult.

2018-11-18 23:29:52 UTC

2018-11-18 23:33:51 UTC

There's also people like Tim trying to freelance it

2018-11-18 23:59:36 UTC

i don't think news was ever unbias or boring. the trope of news being sensational is as old as news.

2018-11-19 00:03:03 UTC

Yellow Press. Exactly.

2018-11-20 04:16:01 UTC

Reminder that even in the "Free" land of 'Murica you can still be sent to jail for investigative journalism, if you investigate too deep.

Sensationalism backed by a multinational corporation pays well. Actually having integrity and a will to find out the truth, not so much.

2018-11-20 05:24:32 UTC

Who got sent to jail?

2018-11-20 10:24:45 UTC

Look at the Journalists that the Lefts favorite black President sent to jail

2018-11-20 11:57:51 UTC

who got sent to jail tho?

@Misomania you sir ~~ are a liar and spreader of fake news ~~. Euthanasia is illegal in denmark. I Would like for you to source this opinion you are spreading.

2018-11-21 19:44:06 UTC

@tritrium you have been lied to

2018-11-21 20:45:11 UTC

2018-11-21 21:12:12 UTC

@4AM_critter ๐Ÿ‰ you from denmark then?
I have no idea about denmark i only know its possible in belgium but under very strict conditions

2018-11-21 21:13:11 UTC

Yep, as the Americans say. I am a sugary piece of pastry

2018-11-21 22:04:29 UTC

Addendum:
It seems there was a mixup between denmark and netherlands, two tiny european countries.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euthanasia_in_the_Netherlands

2018-11-21 22:05:19 UTC

you mean two, don't you?

2018-11-21 22:05:35 UTC

Yep just edited ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

2018-11-21 22:07:47 UTC

Danes and Dutch. The classic mixup.

2018-11-21 23:39:15 UTC

was juggling another article about the suicide tourism industry actually at the same time, and others about how certain advocate's activities are promoting the allowance of it's spread and others about the expansion of those cases in existing national laws and how they seem to be gaining traction as it spreads through other nations (canada and the US as well). Just swapped two of them in that giant stack of articles I was cross referencing.

2018-11-22 03:25:57 UTC

https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/newspolitics/canadian-public-opinion-of-us-hits-38-year-low-survey/ar-BBPXCpp?ocid=spartanntp
I absolutely *love* articles like this. They hit you with the results of the poll right in the headline (which too few people will read and move on without going through the article). Scroll down a ways and you find out they only polled 2,000 people to represent all of Canada (36.7 million people). The article isn't worded to inform people either, it reads as though it is attempting to convince me why the poll represents the truth (whether it does or not).

2018-11-22 03:34:11 UTC

And of course more Canadians wouldn't support Trump. You guys in the U.S. have an America First president, while up here we have a Canada Last prime minister and as a result Trump can pretty much have his way with us because there's nobody to fight him on it. When Trump tries to get the best deal for the U.S. it will mean that Canada probably won't come out on top which is enough to make a lot of Canadians dislike him at least somewhat. Our media also doesn't really like him either (not quite CNN levels of partisanship, but getting there) which doesn't help Trump in Canadian public opinion. I'm actually surprised that public opinion of Trump isn't worse up here.

2018-11-22 03:44:37 UTC

I bet it is lower tbh

2018-11-22 03:45:24 UTC

I used to be able to convince people that it wasn't as big an issue as they thought but after we got re-shafted on nafta that stopped

2018-11-22 03:45:35 UTC

We need a Canada First party

2018-11-22 03:47:27 UTC

As much as I'd like an actual Canada First party, those kinds of things have a tendency to attract the wrong type of people unfortunately. I'd much prefer a Common Sense Party of Canada, comprised of center-left and center-right libertarians looking to get rid of political extremists and ideologues so we can get back to focusing on actual important and relevant issues.

2018-11-22 03:48:20 UTC

by "get rid of" I mean specifically to eliminate their ideas through debate

2018-11-22 03:50:20 UTC

I'm just gonna throw my weight behind Mad Max

2018-11-22 03:54:16 UTC

@H E C K , I want such a party here too.

2018-11-22 03:56:14 UTC

@H E C K shame that those ideas cannot be argued because of the sunk cost fallacy. Proving them wrong in their mind makes them right

2018-11-22 03:58:53 UTC

just a shame that debate often causes those your debating to double down even harder in the face of overwhelming evidence that they are wrong, it's a wierd result

2018-11-22 03:59:13 UTC

The people being debated may not have their opinions swayed, but the people watching the debate could be convinced. Perhaps not all, but some. Of course there are people with crazy levels of bias that they could never accept that their position is wrong (I've seen some shit like this on Dr. Phil), but they will be a minority.

2018-11-22 04:00:43 UTC

On the other hand, silencing these people instead of debating them will not only confirm their beliefs to them but it will convince others that they are right. At least debate will keep the amount of political extremists to a minimum

2018-11-22 04:08:34 UTC

I'd like to think there is some opinion adjustment going on here. I certainly have been putting a lot of thought into what I have heard here.

2018-11-22 04:13:20 UTC

Same here. My opinions have changed dramatically over the past two years, originally starting on the center right and listening to Ben Shapiro and Milo Yiannopoulos. Now I'm center left, listen to Tim (obviously) and other people on the left. I'm even starting to purchase some books on politics and philosophy which will probably change my opinions even more. I think people can change their opinions quite fluidly when they become cognizant of the tribalistic workings of their brain.

2018-11-22 04:13:48 UTC

It's true, opinions rarely change over the course of a conversation, but seeds can be planted.

2018-11-22 04:14:57 UTC

the other big issue is the massive numbers of personal attacks.
You will not change anyones mind by attacking them.
But that is largely how people treat politics now.

2018-11-22 04:16:09 UTC

I had a friend that decided to never speak to me again for pointng out when they were spouting propaganda and giving them links to sources like snopes to show them what the truth was, but they just said I was a dirty trump supporter and a bad person who hates brown people.

2018-11-22 04:22:22 UTC

That's likely because the only people who attack others based on politics are not interested in finding truth regardless of where it lies, but rather they simply want their tribe to be right. I don't blame them entirely, it's a function of the human mind that once served us in terms of self-preservation. When you are completely disconnected from any group, then you won't have that drive to see your tribe win. In my opinion, it's one of the best ways to ensure that your own political biases are kept to a minimum. As for your friend, it's really unfortunate to hear that they were willing to give up a friendship over politics. Back in high school I had a friend who was a self-proclaimed democratic socialist. At the time I was center-right, which he knew about. We never had any issues in our friendship, political or otherwise.

2018-11-22 12:46:12 UTC

@Beemann mad max all the way!

2018-11-22 12:46:45 UTC

It's hard not to think that the Liberal Party has open disdain for the average Canadian

2018-11-22 12:47:06 UTC

Are they that power drunk or just malevolent?

2018-11-22 12:47:18 UTC

The US is definitely a more attractive option

2018-11-22 18:52:50 UTC

@The Yellow King you showed them Snopes, of all websites, and they still called you a dirty tumper? Yikes.

2018-11-22 18:53:38 UTC

Yeah

2018-11-22 18:55:04 UTC

That is like, cult level of delusion. Not easy to keep as a friend or even reach.

2018-11-22 18:55:22 UTC

It's like they turn off their brains and don't want to think because it hurts too much.

2018-11-22 18:58:31 UTC

Yeah I don't really care at the end of the day, they were a shitty friend in retrospect.

2018-11-22 18:58:40 UTC

The kind that would borrow from you, but never help you.

2018-11-22 19:00:57 UTC

Just like their hero Marx

2018-11-22 22:51:08 UTC

https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-thanksgiving-statement-thankful-himself-1228390 Im putting this here cause its mostly a sensationalized non issue imo but Trump be "humble" bragging.

2018-11-23 00:45:20 UTC

Yeah, as someone from Clark Country, was can attest that there is no doubt in my kind this is a local sherrif trying to avoid bad publicity on one hand and a lawsuit on the other

2018-11-23 00:46:15 UTC

They don't speak for the FBI. And if an FBI agent said what they say was said d, it could just as easily have been a personal statement and not something that is FBI policy

2018-11-23 00:46:59 UTC

I'm sitting here in Clark county right now and nothing against them but this is a pretty hick place

2018-11-23 06:16:52 UTC

if Trump come out and publicly endorse the proud boys, i would lose my shit

Great video on Battlefield V rewriting history
https://youtu.be/BAlAITCBprI

2018-11-25 16:29:23 UTC

Wow. It is a bigger shit show than I expected

2018-11-25 17:34:29 UTC

we waz kangz

2018-11-25 19:22:12 UTC

That video was a good watch. As someone with an interest in history of the early 20th century, it really is a shame what they did with Battlefield V. All EA had to do was to remake Battlefield 1942 (their first battlefield title) with new graphics and gameplay, but they couldn't even do that.

2018-11-25 19:23:12 UTC

There is nothing EA can't ruin.

2018-11-25 19:24:33 UTC

@H E C K then you will loathe this vid.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88jhgNtZ4UY

Just donโ€™t show to any history majors or anyone with a decent interest in history

2018-11-25 19:27:38 UTC

Even in the Battlefield 4 campaign when you were steamrolling through enemies like they were nothing and turning everything that moved into swiss cheese, at least it could be explained by the fact that you were an elite team of special forces soldiers with superior weaponry and training. Somehow two untrained women are better suited to combat than a group of 3 highly trained men and one highly trained woman.

2018-11-25 19:31:19 UTC

EA can't ruin my lunch

2018-11-26 20:03:52 UTC

Those vids are pretty good

2018-11-26 20:04:04 UTC

made me think about doing something similar

2018-11-27 22:58:35 UTC

Don't forget that those two women were a squad of men in real life.

2018-11-28 04:26:50 UTC

This angers me to no end, endlessly

2018-11-28 04:27:03 UTC

Actually I don't really care but it is still stupid

2018-11-28 04:27:33 UTC

I stopped buying shooting games a long time ago. The gameplay maxed out with the first call of duty over ten years ago

2018-11-28 04:27:48 UTC

A squad of men has good uses for two women

2018-11-28 04:27:53 UTC

Oof

2018-11-28 04:28:03 UTC

Bad taekahn

2018-11-28 04:28:18 UTC

Oh wait they could like bake cookies for the squad

2018-11-28 04:28:20 UTC

Silly me

2018-11-28 04:30:26 UTC

what, i'm just saying that women can do the same jobs as men

2018-11-28 04:30:32 UTC

although cookies are nice

2018-11-28 04:30:53 UTC

damn it, now i want cookies

2018-11-28 04:31:07 UTC

and i have no women around ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

2018-11-28 04:33:40 UTC

You must now take the long trek into the wild to the next village and take their woman folk by force.

2018-11-28 04:34:49 UTC

Only women can makes the cookies?

2018-11-28 04:36:47 UTC

the tastiest of them, yes.

2018-11-28 04:36:56 UTC

unless we're talking first class cooking, in which case only men can do that

2018-11-28 04:37:18 UTC

but how many gordon ramsey's are there in the world

2018-11-28 04:42:20 UTC

Ah I see

2018-11-28 04:42:46 UTC

Most women cook better than men, but the best cooks are men

2018-11-28 04:55:49 UTC

Idk, i think i could run around yelling at people for being bad at cooking for a few hundred thousand dollars per year

2018-11-28 05:31:55 UTC

>gameplay maxed out with CoD
CoD isnt even that good m8

2018-11-28 15:10:19 UTC

Fortunately neither CPP or I take bait ๐Ÿ™„

2018-11-29 17:10:43 UTC

Wonder how long before it's found out it was a left leaning person

2018-11-30 04:07:39 UTC

This has nothing to do with the story but my god this guy could be Alex Jones' body double

2018-11-30 12:21:44 UTC

@Grenade123 most likely a hoax

2018-12-03 04:49:01 UTC

I have no idea how to respond to this

2018-12-03 04:51:25 UTC

Yeah, who do they think they're foolin' with this one?

2018-12-03 04:56:43 UTC

black people??

2018-12-03 11:49:31 UTC

Yeah, sorry mate

2018-12-03 11:49:41 UTC

That's exactly what a clone would say

2018-12-03 16:20:40 UTC

HUH

2018-12-03 16:20:42 UTC

Canada's economy is going to shit but its okay because house prices will remain unaffordable... oh wait

2018-12-03 16:21:17 UTC

our abnormally low interest rates are the only thing keeping people in their homes

2018-12-03 16:21:35 UTC

but its also the only thing keeping house prices up

2018-12-03 16:23:52 UTC

Dat bubble gotta pop

2018-12-03 17:28:03 UTC

Yeah

2018-12-03 18:06:11 UTC

Our bubble popped a decade ago, yours will too

โ€œ Tucker Carlson, neo-Nazi favorite โ€œ changed to โ€œ Tucker Carlson, the Daily Stormerโ€™s favorite โ€œ
By Erik Wemple on The Washington Post

WP attempts to associate Tucker Carson with Nazism using a shady anonymous study by Buzzfeed. They walked their claims back a bit with a stealth edit of the article title. Archives provided for both versions

2018-12-04 00:37:27 UTC

yeah, he's only hosting and listening to the other guy

2018-12-04 00:38:08 UTC

Still. JF is gay

2018-12-04 00:38:14 UTC

He's french ๐Ÿ˜›

2018-12-04 00:38:17 UTC

*scnr*

2018-12-04 00:38:31 UTC

Guy named AltRight Truth also sounds mega gay

2018-12-04 00:45:40 UTC

But from what I heard about Charlottesville looks like its a total shitshow from the Media. If it is ruled that James is innocent, more so....

2018-12-04 01:19:07 UTC

Yeah that specific story is questionable, but JF and "AltRight Truth" are literally Alt Right ethno nationalist retards

2018-12-04 01:26:39 UTC

There's a ton of them, millions, just not for most people, only for a certain circle

2018-12-04 02:19:09 UTC

Reminder that JF isn't even principled about his ethnostate. So on top of being an Alt Retard, he's a flakey one

2018-12-04 02:24:02 UTC

Who is JF?

2018-12-04 02:24:11 UTC

Oh no, is it Jeff Foxworthy?

2018-12-04 02:25:00 UTC

The cringey French dude Warski had on his streams all the time

2018-12-04 02:31:41 UTC

What the fuck happens to Andywarski

2018-12-04 02:31:57 UTC

I remember when he was just a normal anti-SJW that had his Asian friend on all the time

2018-12-04 02:32:05 UTC

Is he like a white nationalist now?

2018-12-04 02:36:02 UTC

He's willing to talk to them. That's good enough for most.

2018-12-04 02:37:57 UTC

Looking at his recent videos it seems like he just makes beef with every other country culture YouTube

2018-12-04 02:38:26 UTC

He's not very bright but talks all the time. Put 2 and 2 together :^)
